Hearing the start of this about breaking down WWEs current televised format makes me think of a theory I had when the WWE first announced that they had changed the name of the Pay Per View events to Premium Live Events. I think the WWE knows that RAW and SmackDown's sole purpose is to be pushing stories along to get the fans to the Premium Live Events. That's why the PLEs feel bigger and have more of a focal point on the wrestling aspect and in turn its why RAW and SmackDown are more focused on promo time instead of in ring time. I know that was long winded but if anyone read it, I hope it makes sense

I grew up in the Mid-South territory. There were 2 local stations that played the weekly Mid-South shows. 1 was on cable for some reason & the other was on regular broadcast channels. The cable show was 2 weeks ahead of the regular broadcast show. My neighbor had cable so he was always 2 weeks ahead of the rest of us. He was pretty decent about it, but sometimes would be a dick & spoil what was about to happen. Or he would blatantly lie about something that happened. It's really impressive how they were able to keep the live shows on par with a TV show, that as Corny said, might take 5+ weeks to circulate through the whole territory without ruining anything.
memphis did something sort of like that, indiana and kentucky if I'm not entirely mistaken were usually a week behind with their tv's and TN would be a week ahead of us.

I always get bored with how every match in modern pro wrestling is 20 minutes long (if not WWE or the WWE format of 2 minutes, go to the break, etc. However, even the format for this show is short matches with a long main event which is fine as to me. the main event is supposed to be what you want to tune in to see...this match on paper sounds like it was really cool to check out back then and to this day
Jim Cornette has forgotten more about professional wrestling than I will probably ever care to know, much less try to learn, but what he doesn't realize is that good strong opener he described is what AEW is usually trying to lead there shows with. It's fine to not like it, I often don't myself, but for some reason he doesn't seem to realize the intent. Yeah, I know AEW gets enough free advice they don't listen to already, but maybe some of the other would be bookers listening to Cornette could learn from the constructive criticism.
