Replacing a BMW Clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel

- On this 2007 BMW 328ix, we replace the self-adjusting clutch. Once we got in there, we also changed the dual-mass flywheel. This battle starts out with removing all the ground plates and undoing the exhaust. Next, you undo the drive shafts and drop the transfer case. Finally, removing the transmission.
It was quite a job to get to the clutch!
Resealing and changing the fluids while we are this far in only makes sense, as was changing the flywheel.
With everything functioning correctly, it was time for a test dive!

The Husky was just the last man to try the jar. But wow.
So its been about year now since bought Husky set and I still have not been able to break them. And its not through lack of trying, I have used them on my impact guns and with 1/2" adaptors and they just keep hanging in there. Truly surprising to me.

@@klassikats If reusing old pressure plate, for removal, do I use criss-cross or circumference loosening pattern? Thank you!
@@KoenigsTiger957 Yes, you will also need the special tool to compress the press plate for installation. The issue is unless you plan on doing a lot of these jobs, an entirely new clutch kit is cheaper than buying the tool required to do the job. The new clutch pressure plates come with a temporary locking piece already installed.

what do you use to clean the inside of the clutch with?
I use MPS Solvent from Winzer for cleaning items that are not going into my parts washer. It may or may not be legal in your state though.

When you spinning the shafts was your transmission in gear or neutral?
Neutral.
