I would love more videos comparing different small sustainable brands such as Ecos, Real Milk Paint, Clare, and Backdrop compared to "eco versions" from the classics like BM, SW and FB. pls pls pls and thank you!
I've used Backdrop before. Their paints are on the thinner side. I wouldn't call them zero VOC. Perhaps they're low VOC. Still if you intentionally try to smell it, there is a bit of odor. But it's not overwhelming odor, at least for me. Everyone else may still react differently to the same paint.
With low VOC paints, am I limited in regards to paint colors available. This is really important to me as I have a parrot and they are very susceptible to health damage caused by VOC's
Here's an interesting application you might not be familiar with: beehives. I'm a new beekeeper refurbishing an old hive. Bee lore has it that if you paint a hive you need to use low VOC paint and let it cure for at least 30 days. If you don't, the introduced bees may not accept the hive. They are olfactory/chemical critters, so it only makes sense. Cheers.
What is your opinion of milk and clay paints? Are they effective and are they the lowest toxicity of all paints? I've studied paint toxicity some, and found that even brands that advertise low or no VOC put in other toxic compounds like mildewcides, etc. I need something where I don't have to worry about opening windows at all where I live. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead.
Hi I am looking to paint or stain either existing mdf cabinet doors or replace door and drawers and safely change the look with color. I am very concerned about VOCs safety health and longevity for my bathroom renovation. Please guide me with these products including primer or finishing steps thank you so much!
hi here, I have a question here about the VOC limit if I had paint specified with zero amount of VOC and the contractor submitted a paint with a little amount of VOC according and complying with APE Organization is there any need to reject the material since the project was for a cancer hospital what i understand from you is the VOC content is affecting the odor and smell during the application
It can have negative effects on anyway that breathes them in, but patients with respiratory issues are even more vulnerable. That's why it's so important to go with low or zero VOC paints in those cases. I'm a fan of Eco-Spec by Benjamin Moore!
In most cases you will be okay to apply two coats of paint directly over a previously painted wall. However, if you are filling holes, have shiny walls or applying a colour that doesn't have good coverage, then I would recommend using a primer.
The manufacturing of modern day paint all have solvents and plastic. Most coatings are comprised of synthetic materials obtained from petroleum products. Over 50% of the micro-plastics in our oceans are from paints.@@MA-zg2pz
Volatile Organic Compounds were often equated with higher grade, older paint products. The thinking was, industrial grade paint products that could bond to almost anything also had VOC's that are bad for the environment. As the technology gets better, we are seeing higher quality products that work as well as the older stuff, but without all the toxic chemicals present.
Preach ....the same is with plastic used in foodwares...they put label that there is no bpa but these are replace by more or the same toxic ingredients

Nope, many low or zero Voc paints have the same colors available that higher VOC paints have
Important to know does BM low VOC or Zero VOC provide good paint coverage as those with harmless chemicals?

BM has discontinued the Natura line. Any idea why?

They always replace the toxic material to other toxic one
Why did they discontinue Natura?

Would you recommend the Benjamin Moor paint for a dinning table? Thank you!
Why hasn’t this video been updated that Natura has been discontinued since March 2021?

Does the voc have any toxic effect on patients with lungs problems?

Do I need a primer to paint over white interior paint (the paint was Behr Marquee)? I want to paint with a white no VOC paint. Thanks!

It's still plastic that we put on walls. There's still PFAS. These paints still contain petroleum products are still bad for you, and the environment.
What is “still plastic”? There are different formulas of paint. Why do you think paints have petroleum?

But do we eat the paint ?so how does pfas affect us
do you have any recommendations (besides benjamin moore) for good voc free primers and paints?? i’m US based.
ProMar 200 zero Voc primer by Sherwin Williams.
Do they sell Benjamin Moore paint in Kingman Az.
Put this question in google search engine…and you’ll have your answer
Why VOCs are in paints what the purposes of VOCs?

Benjamin Moore may be a "low voc" paint but that doesn't mean it's not off gassing other chemicals. They just swapped out the chemicals.

No VOC for me 😂😆
