Tips I can give when playing runefactory 4 1. do the requests they are tied to getting new seeds and other things like your first tools for free and so on. 2. get a cooking table and fridge soon. Food items can’t be stored till you have a fridge and cooking pickled turnips which are great to restore rp and some hp early on. 3. Finish the second dungeon fast it’s tied to unlocking your other crafting bench’s. 4. the best way to level blacksmithing is to take an item you made and then upgrade it with anything, it does not matter. You get pretty much the same exp or about 1/5th your exp bar per upgrade. This is best done as a way to use up the last of your rp in a day. I’m not kidding if you go at it none stop you can reach level 100 smithing in a day it does not have diminished returns or if it does very little. 5. If you combine a magnifying glass into a tool it will let you see the quality of crops and soil it’s planted into as well as how close it is to being done. 6. Fertilizer and the other soil buff items are amazing when you can afford them it’s worth it to grow higher quality crops at a extremely faster rate. For example some of the crops I won’t spoil take longer then a month in game time to grow but by having maxed out fields it will grow in about 1/4th the time or faster. 7. There are effectively 3 story arcs so when it seems you have beaten the game you most likely have not and there’s more. I know it’s a mind fuck my first playthrough I went in blind and about a week or so had more story at my door step and was like wat? 8. date everyone, even though it seems wrong as long as your not married there are no down sides to dating more then one person other then the occasional back handed comment justly so :\. The more people your dating the more likely a new person will say no so you will need more fp friendship points to get them to say yes. Think of it as the amount of hearts you have adds to a % chance of them saying yes. 9. crafting is deeper then it looks but to get the most out of a weapon or armor here’s what you do(warning this will destroy the early difficulty by a lot 0-0) get to level 50 in crafting gear then make the best sword you can then get 10 level 10 items does not mater what upgrade that sword to level 10 now take said sword and combine it with a lower level sword possibly one you like the looks of for example the starting sword now upgrade the combined sword to level 10 with what ever level 10 material you like the bonus of till said sword is level 10 and then look at the stats. To sum it up if done right this will take a 100 damage sword and jump it’s stats from 100 to closer to 2000 and the better the sword you combine into it or armor will give it much better stats. This is how runefactory 4 expects you to handle the end game there’s people who explain this much better then I could but think of this as master crafting gear. 10. Enjoy the game don’t try to go meta or anything right away the majority of the story does not really need you to be meta or god tier so feel free to experiment sense using different weapons or trying different activities only benifits you because every level in a skill gives you bonus stats but mainly what you want from said level is RP bonuses from each level. That rp bar by end game will be pretty jacked trust me that 100 you start with will get much larger so relax enjoy the game and then question where the hell the last 100 hours went. BONUS TIP: for you meta hounds out there when you have a child with your wife or husband you can do what any respectable mom/dad would do and have them fight with you and what skills they learn is based on who you married. Also your child is the best NPC companion in the game stat wise and even AI wise think of them as basically a little you .... I mean that’s technically what children are but this game takes that to the extreme thunder Dome style. You be horrified watching your 5 year old child rip a god dragon to death with a great sword 3x their body size. Thanks for reading through this poorly written tips comment and if you liked any of these tips be sure to like this video and give this creator some love. Also the level cap is fucking massive so don’t worry about reaching max level before beating the game because it’s not level 50 ....or 99..... or 100..... or even 3000 are you ready to drop your jaw it’s 50000. So have fun devoting the next month to leveling (there’s a food item that gives you a level every time you eat it sooooo...yeah) why do you torture me Rune factory :-:
Also I don’t remember if it does or not but using level 10 items to upgrade stuff like level 10 iron may give more exp per upgrade. If so the best and cheapest item to use is turnip seeds just get them to level 10 and you can buy them for dirt cheep in bulk. If you did not already know by finishing requests you unlock the ability for shops to start selling higher level seeds based on the highest level version of said crop or seed you sold them.
Woow thanks so much for sharing your playthrough experience in such length! It's very helpful and my mind is blown by the fact that this game has SO MUCH CONTENT. TRULY AMAZING! I can't wait to make more progress!
Tip 1: using sickle... Buy one crop, grow it to fully grown, chop it down and then replant, keep doing that until it is level 4-10 and then grow it full, harvest and ship the crop, blossom will then sell that level seed

Regarding the time-saving tip by doing as much as possible during Vishal's tutorial, you actually CAN get level ups. First of all, DO NOT pick anything up since you won't get level ups yet. @@goldengryphon I don't really understand your reply to my comment. When you get a drop from a monster or out in the wild SELL IT!! Sell the first one you get, as you’ll be able to buy it from a character in town afterwards, as many as you can. Especially later in the game with boss drops and such. You can check to see if you’d shipped something in the little menu that pops up when looking at the item in your bag. It’ll say ‘unshipped’ if you haven’t shipped it yet! Have fun playing!!

This game has a steep learning curve but it's a very rewarding game imo. The fact that everything you do builds xp is nice as you're never really not progressing, also all the little things you learn along the way shows your progress. This game has so many different avenues of play though it can be difficult to make a decision what to do next ( I guess I probably shouldn't romance clorica then )!
I'm a bit late but, after the end of the second arc (you'll know when you finish it because something major happens) there is a third arc which triggers via a random event called memories, there is a way to get this event to trigger faster and that is to level up your friendship with Dylas and Amber to level 7 and then sleep with them in your party if they say they have to be somewhere and they go to the flower shop you will have triggered the event
During the Vishnal tutorial I was bored and decided to take one of the rocks/branches and started throwing it around the field to increase my throwing skill to raise STR, VIT, and ATK early on. Coulda done it forever if I didn't accidentally throw my rock out of the field lolol
I appreciate the tips. I ended up picking this up a few days ago... half way through fall. This was a huge help and I appreciate those who are putting out videos to help new players like myself. Thank you.
Apart from the tip that Nate Teo give, after planting the first seed, if you eat the brown weeds, you can get Resist Poison, but use the antidote before you leave the area. Then till all the land and then water it, to get farming, water and earth skills. Then, go to the top right and destroy the sign and pond, this will level up your sword skills. Then if you want to spend some time to level up your throwing skills, have one item in hand and keep walking into the fence and throw the item until you decide you have a high enough level for throwing or you decide it's taking to look.
My tip is to steal the fodder from the huge birds every other day. Eventually, you'll be able to kill the birds in like four hits, but just run around them when you're low level
You can throw dead grass directly at them and it posions them killing them in under a minute no matter your level. Just make sure you're agile enough to run circles around them lol.
Oooo great tips and great video too! I mean, I’m a RF4 veteran so I know all of these things (except I didn’t think about abusing the farming tutorial!) I can offer some more too! - I personally try to buy things in multiples of either 4 (usually for seeds) or 9 because each item “stack” goes up to 9. And 4 of course because each plot of land in the grid can have 4 seeds. It just keeps things organized in my opinion. - I believe Forte is the only character that can join you right away when you first start the game (no need to raise friendship), and she’s really strong to boot so she can give you extra help if you need it. - When you see a treasure chest, try not to break it, especially the blue ones. I’ve gotten amazing weapons through the blue ones to get me through the final arc of the game (that I never once completed in the original T^T I was so happy when I did it the other day) - Doug just won’t like you for a long time. His friendship/heart level will be stuck at three, barely but not quite 4 and if you wanna raise it and pursue him, you gotta finish the second arc of the game, which is quite the difficulty spike, just a warning. But nonetheless, I always go for him and go through that pain every time lol but it’s worth it in the end because I think he’s great. - lastly, don’t concern too much over RP! If there’s something you can’t cook, craft, forge, etc because it costs too much RP, the best thing to do is raise your skill levels! You’ll find that the item you wanted will decrease in RP cost and you’ll be able to craft it. Also making things that cost almost all of your RP can help raise your skill level too, which in turn makes things cost less RP. It’s a pretty great system.
I didn’t enjoy playing rune factory on the DS. But now it’s on the switch I really enjoy it 😅 maybe I just needed a bigger screen. Thanks for the tips and hints!
Expanding on the seeds thing: Make sure to keep you fields fertilized and use Nutrient. The seeds are only a higher quality if the vegetable itself has a hogher value. Ship one of those seeds to upgrade the shop stocks. Rinse and repeat.
Just bought this today on sale for Switch, it's my first time with this series, these are helpful tips but I didn't realise you could get monsters to join you in battle 🤯 I know the intro mentioned you could get monsters for a barn I think but yeh, cool😃
Couple days ago I got this game as I loved the original rf on ds nd haven't played any others since I thought I'd revisit the game and I'm absolutely loving it, I could spend hours at a time playing (kinda annoyingly good lol). Its one of the cheaper switch games in the uk at least but it's full of content, it's mainly a 3ds port with some bonuses and some upscaling but its certainly better than 95% of the crap on the e store!
Im just amazed on how hooked i am on this game now. Playing it for the first time on gamepass i didn't think i was gonna like it found myself playing it for almost 10 hours straight, feels like i didn't make any progress tho 😂
I just bought it for 30$ and having stardew valley not be my jam i liked the way this looked and kinda knew it would be like stardew, but i thought id give it a try but reading all this makes me not bother😂this is like a chore game.F 🤣 owells i guess
One thing I've noticed is the request to get level 1 friendship with all townsfolk won't complete under some conditions and the reason why stumped a lot of people. These requests have a linear order as far as I can tell and canceling just gave me the option to do it again. I'm playing the DS version. I'm not sure if they fixed this in special/switch. (Remember you need all the starting townsfolk, amber, and at least one monster.) I restarted a few times to try and narrow down why. My current theories for the bug and getting it to work are: 1) Other events going on. (I saw this listed for reasons other things won't trigger.) The time I couldn't get this to work the townsfolk had said they saw the trigger to start towards the 3rd boss, but I hadn't done the cutscenes. 2) Who you talk to and meet. The time I got this to work I hadn't gone back to dylas to wake him or spoken to any of the sometimes visitors/merchants. Everyone says you only need starts/amber/1 monster, but it may be that they didn't speak to people that rarely show or some other factor. 3) You already have level 1 with all of them? The times I got it to work I accepted the quest with someone at zero, leveled them to one friendship and then turned it in. Most quests don't work this way, but it was a condition that was different so it is worth mentioning.
Trying to decide what Switch game I should get for my niece who is in 3rd grade. She is not a fan of fighting or platform games. I thought maybe more of an exploration and/or story-based game. However, she already has Animal Crossing and Minecraft. Is this game too much like those two games?
I started playing it because there was a free test version in the eshop and I just got really into it and bought the game. I never heard of it before but it's great! and this video is really helpful, I wish I watched it before I started playing but I can obviously still do these things now c:
Sorry if this question has been answered, but is there any strategy for the recipe breads? Is it better to experiment to find new recipes instead of eating recipe bread and should I have all the cooking tools before using the bread to get the most out of them? Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you!
I have a question that we can miss things during our games??? rare item or trophy?? Are there things absolutely not to be missed??? thank you if you answer me 🙏🙏 otherwise good video+1 like
New to rune factory just got rune factory 4 and I'm kinda into it but abruptly felt ehhh into it as a farming and action aspect I love. I thought maybe I was doing it wrong or not seeing the real love in it. I didn't know feed back would be greatly appreciated cause I have heard so many great things about it.
I have a question on increasing crop levels! I just got the request to ship a level 5 crop and I can’t seem to get past level 4. I upgraded my sickle to iron, but Im only getting level 4 seeds. Do I need to upgrade the sickle again, or switch my focus to leveling soil with greenifiers? Thank you! (And I really appreciated this video, it helps a lot! ❤️)
I would focus on leveling your soul with the greenifiers. If you don’t have it already you can get the magnifying glass to check soil levels. And it doesn’t hurt to upgrade your sickle again. Thanks for watching!
I have two monster barns and I caught a cow recently, however I can't find it. Where do your monsters go if you don't have room? Can you swap monsters for others?
Hmm do your barns have additional rooms? If they’ve been expanded at all you could try going to the left/right of the barn to see. If you want to swap one for another you’ll have to release the monsters you don’t want before catching new ones.
You just walk back to the area on the map/room where you fought said boss and you can fight them again, but you can only fight each boss you've already defeated once per in-game day. Look out for items the bosses drop too because they are valuable!
@@TeaLeafProphecy you're very welcome! Next time you've a chance, just say "Me..? A..princess?? Shut. UP!!" the same way she did in the movie, and see how even more identical you'll both sound. 😋
Basically make Clorica and Kiel your friends so you can take them with you. Also ride a beast so you do not accidentally eat their food items. You will become rich in a small amount of time
Yes, it's absolutely worth it. I think Rune Factory 4 is still better than 5 even though it's the older game. It has way more content and is more lively than Rune Factory 5. The graphics are still good and the top-down view in 4 is more clear for farming and stuff than the 3D style in 5. So I'd recommend buying Rune Factory 4 over 5.
befriending boss? you can do that? OAO is that considered breaking the game bc pretty sure that's not what you're supposed to do. I can't even tame a cow for the milk. now that I red somewhere a barn can only hold 4 monsters that explains it. also can anyone give me a heads up on different size of loot? for example I got lucky and my chicken gave me egg(L) first time and only once. I anticipate you need to have it in quarantin sorry I mean a barn to itself for that to happen again. right now I have 3 chickens+1 apple and one barn
Befriending bosses are possible if you beat them once. They're just much more difficult to tame than regular monsters (for obvious reasons) The monsters give you larger produce if you increase their friendship level. You can check it on the menu on the same page where you can check the friendship levels of the villagers. To increase it, just brush them and give them items everyday.
I love this game. Although I'm kinda disappointed that I can't have a same gender romance. There is a 'work around' involving using Prince/Princess Points to magic yourself into the other gender, but you're still the gender you initially picked. I hope this is addressed in Rune Factory 5 in that we can pursue which ever gender we want.

Doug is so stubborn but I love him so much! He’s definitely worth the wait to marry.
Awesome tips! Glad to meet more veterans of the series.
I didn’t enjoy playing rune factory on the DS. But now it’s on the switch I really enjoy it 😅 maybe I just needed a bigger screen. Thanks for the tips and hints!
I had 842 hours on Rune Factory 4 before I broke my 2DS, I really needed this to refresh my memory as I'm getting Rune factory 4 special tomorrow
sorry your 2ds broke! Thank for watching :)
OMG I HAVE NINTENDO SWITCH AND RUNE FACTORY 4 SPECIAL!
Thank you for this video, your voice is so soothing!
Couple days ago I got this game as I loved the original rf on ds nd haven't played any others since I thought I'd revisit the game and I'm absolutely loving it, I could spend hours at a time playing (kinda annoyingly good lol). Its one of the cheaper switch games in the uk at least but it's full of content, it's mainly a 3ds port with some bonuses and some upscaling but its certainly better than 95% of the crap on the e store!
fredhair I really love how cheap it is in comparison to other switch games! Especially since it’s such a huge game!
Great tips this is my first rf game and I'm loving it! The comments are so full of good info too :)
You have such a calming voice!
Ty!!
love the video! just started playing RF4S and these tips are great! i cant stop playing this game
Glad you’re enjoying it! It’s a very fun and addicting game ✨
I like your voice. It's always nice to find yt vids that have nice, calm, and elegant voice rather than noisy "excited" screams..
Congrats I'm your 100th subscriber. Best of luck in the future.
Bakugo Katsuki thanks for the support!
@@TeaLeafProphecy No problem
I'm waiting for Rune Factory 5!!!
I hope we hear some news about it soon!!
I just started the game this morning! Thanks for the tips! Looking forward to putting some time into this one.
I played the original and just started again on the switch thanks for getting me caught up again!
My only gripe is that I loved the original 3ds opening. I wish that played as well.
I think woolies actually like clippers, not wool.
How do I get more tools to farm? I keep picking up the wood and sell them when I realize that I need wood to upgrade
This will be my 3rd Rune Factory game
I changed main character name to eve and i really like the game . It's fun . I can't wait RF 5 comes to out .
Im just amazed on how hooked i am on this game now. Playing it for the first time on gamepass i didn't think i was gonna like it found myself playing it for almost 10 hours straight, feels like i didn't make any progress tho 😂
Really good tips! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
Regarding the friend like to adventure with you. i noticed that forte will actually join you even if you have level 0 or 1 friendship with them
this was a awesome beginners guide thank you :D
Nice tips and
nice voice :)
Your voice calmed me😌
I've been playing since the very first rune factory and have both versions of rune factory 4 and never caught on to the dialogue box color, lol.
It wasn't until RF4 special when I realized it too haha
Thanks for the video, I’m thinking of getting this on sale on Switch!
I just bought it for 30$ and having stardew valley not be my jam i liked the way this looked and kinda knew it would be like stardew, but i thought id give it a try but reading all this makes me not bother😂this is like a chore game.F 🤣 owells i guess
Tip 1 was not aware of that thank you
One thing I've noticed is the request to get level 1 friendship with all townsfolk won't complete under some conditions and the reason why stumped a lot of people. These requests have a linear order as far as I can tell and canceling just gave me the option to do it again.
I'm playing the DS version. I'm not sure if they fixed this in special/switch. (Remember you need all the starting townsfolk, amber, and at least one monster.)
I restarted a few times to try and narrow down why. My current theories for the bug and getting it to work are:
1) Other events going on.
Yeah it’s definitely frustrating to have to try and trigger the requests! I’ve seen mixed methods too on how to trigger them but end up just not haha
Trying to decide what Switch game I should get for my niece who is in 3rd grade. She is not a fan of fighting or platform games. I thought maybe more of an exploration and/or story-based game. However, she already has Animal Crossing and Minecraft. Is this game too much like those two games?
Very helpful, thanks!
I started playing it because there was a free test version in the eshop and I just got really into it and bought the game.
I never heard of it before but it's great!
and this video is really helpful, I wish I watched it before I started playing but I can obviously still do these things now c:
I hope you enjoy it!
@@TeaLeafProphecy thank you so much!
Great video
Really great video! Thanks for the tips!
Is your voice pitch shifted or is that your mic?
a very helpful tips. thank you
Thanks for the video I just subscribed. :)
Any advice on raising the level of possible party members?
Sorry if this question has been answered, but is there any strategy for the recipe breads? Is it better to experiment to find new recipes instead of eating recipe bread and should I have all the cooking tools before using the bread to get the most out of them? Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you!
Hi! first time player, do you recommend playing with a controller or mouse? (I have the game on PC) Thank you! :)
TeaLeaf Prophecy Thank you so much for responding! (And I finally got the level 5 crop, yay!!) I’m glad I found your channel ^-^
Subbed for the ASMR voice over.
great vid thankyou!!!!
A great video
Is it better to wait till after the game's main story to start dating or does it not matter at all 🤔
I have two monster barns and I caught a cow recently, however I can't find it.
If I progressed passed the fairy boss into the tree boss is there a way to get the fairy boss again
You just walk back to the area on the map/room where you fought said boss and you can fight them again, but you can only fight each boss you've already defeated once per in-game day. Look out for items the bosses drop too because they are valuable!
Thank you I just started playing it's my first Rune Factory so far I love it do you have any tips on how to make money
Thanks for the tips! And lovely and soothing voice, btw. Reminds me of Anne Hathaway's in "The Princess Diaries." ( The first one.) 😊
haha thank you! To even be compared to Anne Hathaway is stunning
@@TeaLeafProphecy you're very welcome! Next time you've a chance, just say "Me..? A..princess?? Shut. UP!!" the same way she did in the movie, and see how even more identical you'll both sound. 😋
Could this also apply to the 3ds version?
Most of it should be the same!
@@TeaLeafProphecy cool, thanks for making great content
A event when Doice comes in your room and wants new clothes for pico, what are you suppost to do?
Basically make Clorica and Kiel your friends so you can take them with you. Also ride a beast so you do not accidentally eat their food items. You will become rich in a small amount of time
Is this still worth playing now that 5 is out?? How are the graphics ?
Yes, it's absolutely worth it. I think Rune Factory 4 is still better than 5 even though it's the older game. It has way more content and is more lively than Rune Factory 5. The graphics are still good and the top-down view in 4 is more clear for farming and stuff than the 3D style in 5. So I'd recommend buying Rune Factory 4 over 5.
Is there new game plus?
I just got my hands on a copy and this video was super helpful! Thanks for the all the good tips
The bosses only accept specific gifts. Like marionetta only like apple pie if I remember.
YO you got mad radio voice mega jealous lol
Is rune factory better than story of seasons friends of mineral town?
Yes. The remake isn’t very good.
does the boss and element x exploits still exsist?
I haven't tried to use it on any bosses yet, but you can still craft it. Will definitely try it out and see!
aww i can befriend the boss monsters thats awesome
how do i get big seed?
You have such a great voice
Your voice is relaxing
So this game like harvest moon and legend of zelda if they was together
Wish rune factory was as popular as animal crossing
Hopefully more people will discover it when Rune Factory 5 releases outside of Japan next year! 💕
I got olive town and after 3 days i wish i just replayed rune factory 4 instead of wasting 50 euro.....
befriending boss? you can do that? OAO is that considered breaking the game bc pretty sure that's not what you're supposed to do. I can't even tame a cow for the milk. now that I red somewhere a barn can only hold 4 monsters that explains it. also can anyone give me a heads up on different size of loot? for example I got lucky and my chicken gave me egg(L) first time and only once. I anticipate you need to have it in quarantin sorry I mean a barn to itself for that to happen again. right now I have 3 chickens+1 apple and one barn
Befriending bosses are possible if you beat them once. They're just much more difficult to tame than regular monsters (for obvious reasons)
The monsters give you larger produce if you increase their friendship level. You can check it on the menu on the same page where you can check the friendship levels of the villagers. To increase it, just brush them and give them items everyday.
@@hikarikiiro2400 thanks but I already found out. how long do I wait until the size upgrades or does it occur randomly
@@chunghwapuppet6078 from my experience, they usually give the largest size when they reach friendship lv 15
@@hikarikiiro2400 thanksOvO
Hey liked your channel very good voice btw it is easy to edit sound it would be nice to equalize in both sides or copy de left part on the right
Naise
Ah yes baby talk into my left ear
I love this game. Although I'm kinda disappointed that I can't have a same gender romance. There is a 'work around' involving using Prince/Princess Points to magic yourself into the other gender, but you're still the gender you initially picked. I hope this is addressed in Rune Factory 5 in that we can pursue which ever gender we want.
Agreed! I would love to see same gender marriage in RF5
Every character is bi in tune factory 5 !!!!!
hmm
BOX FULL OF WEED o_o
then theres me filling my ego, being the rune factory master expert god that i am, by going “heh... i knew that.”
I just dont understand how anyone can play this genre style of game
