it's funny at how unturned started because of nelson's hatred for roblox's garbage anti cheat. literally enough to drive him off the platform, and abandon all games he worked on (another was battlefield that was front page and used DZ's core scripts) giving power to the DZ modders that were getting better player counts than his own game anyways. apocalypse rising 2 long fell off ever since unturned releasement. the 100's of arguments i'd see in the old roblox comment section of deadzone saying "copied game bad game etc" are now dead when unturned is vastly greater than AR2 both gameplay and player count.
Tbh Nelson is still right for leaving as Roblox anti-cheat still sucks to this day. The platform still has a lot of cheaters and a lot of account compromisation who could blame him for leaving. Most of the time they just don't really care to fix it. I do recall there being a lot of arguments about how AR > Deadzone but when looking on Froast (Roblox forum archive) I couldn't actually see that many unless more just scattered around RUclips and Roblox in general.

It really sucks that Nelsons mental health dropped because unturned 4.0 is so promising and so cool i hope he can mange to get back into the swing of things
@@Founder- the funny thing is that the community and few devs are the ones that risen the game back to its glory again due to the amazing curated mas and talented groups while Nelson is just monitering from close and afar doing what pleases his community and balancing the game such an amazing dev team and community we have in unterned(speaking about the good side only)

man I remember loving Deadzone, I was devastated when it went offline. I played recreations and copies all the way up until 2019 when the genre mostly died. had no idea the same creator made Unturned, another game I have 300+ hours in
Great video, Ironically enough I grew up with Nelson basically, in terms of his games. I loved deadzone on roblox it was a great experience, it was very unique with its gameplay, had toxic zones and the safezone was a plus. When it was shut down I was very sad, Web browser unturned however was incredible. I remember it like it was yesterday. The game was not perfect by any means but the map and art style was extremely comfy and it just felt great. I honestly prefer the web browser unturned as it was the OG, PVP was crazy fun too, ghillies sitting on hills with snipers. Man I wish I could go back and play on a server.
I did play a bit of Deadzone on Roblox before it shutdown in the video I found a faithful recreation of the game called Deadzone Classic. that played like the original I did find it interesting it had safezones and toxiczones which restricted areas unless you had protection to get through it. Tbh when I played the web version it was pretty janky ngl but that was to be expected but everything else was there for the later versions of Unturned to build on and refine like the artstyle. There might still be servers running of the game I'm not too sure but does seem possible if someone wants to set it up it should work fine.
i will never forget browser unturned. so crazy, the amount of pvp was amazing. duping with lockers and that little sick house just behind the cliff everyone could base at. we probably exchanged shots back then on those hills.
I loved Deadzone so so much, and also that one battlefield/CoD-like game that he made, I forgot the name of it but literally everyone on Roblox was playing it at the time. I remember playing the browser Unturned version before it was even remotely ready, all I could do was eat some stuff and use a flashlight and there was pretty much nothing anywhere else on the map it was just some field you spawned in each time lol then I have the 2400 hours of Unturned I could go hours on hours talking about as well... good times.
This was the first game I got to play with friends while in school. Made things a lot easier to enjoy something with friends, especially when I was so much younger. Grateful for unturned 2.0
This is actually the game that introduced me to the Internet, its bizarrely important to my life lol. God I remember finding forums and talking to others. It was so incredible.
@@Founder- I’ve taken the occasional break (although I think everyone has). And I think it shows his drive as a creator! I hope he has a long career in the field.
I was part of the Beta guys that played Unturned 2.0. I remembered having to install Hamachi just to play on servers with random people because it didn't had a dedicated server. I left during somewhere the phase of 3.0, I stumbled on your video and all the memories I had playing this flashes. Awesome video
Damn, that's so cool. At least there was some way to play with other people as that's what makes the game good. Thank you very much for the kind words.
Man I remember first playing in Unturned 2.0 back in mid 2014. Got introduced to the game by PSJ and played a ton on the Tribros RP server. It was a ton of fun. Started falling out of it in 2016 and came back in 2022 to play with friends but didn’t play much. I hope Nelson is doing better. His game was a chunk of my childhood.
This game is what brought me to PC gaming, and I will forever cherish it in my heart. and thank you for the video and keeping me up to date, as personal life has become so much that I haven't been able to play in months. Thank you Founder, and especially you, Nelson.
I played apocalypse rising SOOOOO long ago and until seeing this video I had forgotten all about it! That game was probably what got me into the survival genre and is why I downloaded Unturned back in 2014, to this day I have over 2k hours on Unturned and can't wait for the sequel.
I really thought this channel was really popular because of the good interaction of audience but i didnt know it was this small but i think you deserve more subs
Thank you so much for this documentary! I remember playing unturned like 5 years ago, and I fondly remember the bootleg RP. I thought the game would've been dying by now but I was more than pleasantly surprised to see that the game is still alive. The community might be different by now, but I'm more than glad to see that they still have one-
Great video man. Keep it up. I always loved playing battlefield and was angry for losing all my progress, but seeing his last forum posts, it illuminated more issues that roblox had and it taught me to only make games that I was willing to let be stolen. Roblox to this day has people stealing other people's games and people's assets and calling them their own.
Thank you very much. I think I did play Battlefield as well it looks familar I know I had played Deadzone by him for sure and yeah I understand the issues he faced with his games he pount countless hours into getting stolen and other people clamining as their own thankfully its not as big as it was back then on Roblox but still happens on ocasion which is still troubling.
there was a similar situation like this to a non popular game called IMind ACS gun testing. the guy with multiple devs work a lot on the scripting of guns, medical system, vehicles, and etc. And, it had one dev, which im not saying his name for his own sake. This particular dev was lazy, he barely did anything, and the assets he claimed that were "his" were actually riped off from another creator. So, basically, this guy got the game shut down because he reported to roblox that the "blade of grass" was his, which somehow worked. so, roblox shut down the game, and then the owner literally said "bro its not his, he stole it from someone else" and somehow roblox let them bring the game back up. Up to this day, the "lazy dev" even COPIED the game's old map, which was only dev accessible, meaning it was never meant to go out, and he unlocked it so people could STEAL it and claim it theirs. Just to show how many bad people there are, theres the ones that disguise themselfs that do barely any work and look like they're working, and the ones who just want anything by any means Like many people quoted, "Nothing is worse than a man that has nothing to lose."
@@NicoLas-xy3ew sheesh, yeah I've never been a fan of roblox's way of handling these problems. And it doesn't look like it'll improve any time soon because they barely even publicly acknowledge such issues.
@@cmf1402 considering one of my friend's VC was disabled because he played a frying pan noise from L4D2 and got tagged as "racism" i can agree. Roblox will TARGET the fuck out of you if you dont tell them "this shit aint a ban worthy or a warn worthy g" Matter of fact is, a lot of people that posted memes and beef were banned for racism as well. Turns out they never overhaul'd their moderation system as they promised. They dont do any research either, as someone sued roblox for 10k for "stealing" the oof sound, and, the origin of said sound, is unknown, and the guy who claimed it was his, is also unkown. Roblox could have paid or easily win the case, but didn't. This is why roblox is just going downhill.
@@NicoLas-xy3ew a friend of mine got perm banned for saying something in VC, in the future... I kid you not, on the ban screen it says that the ban was reviewed at 2pm, and that he was banned for something he did at 7pm on the same day as the ban review. He still hasn't gotten a response from roblox for weeks.
barely played unturned but Deadzone was the best alternative to apoc rising. i don't even play roblox anymore but this got me very nostalgic. this makes me want to give unturned another try. i still love these zombie survival + PVP games.
i remember when i was like 14 and my friends would come to my place w their laptops and stood all night just playing Unturned as well as Minecraft because it was so easy to set up servers on LAN. seeing the images from the early access gameplay brings me a lot of memories, i hope the best for Nelson
Unturned when it hit steam changed my life. I remember enjoying DayZ but never being able to run it on the laptop I owned at the time. Unturned was very similar gameplay wise, but the graphics made it accessible. At the age of 14 I was hooked, I ended up starting a youtube channel and creating content from the same laptop and remember feeling so disadvantaged yet, I was still able to graft an audience and succeed/work for youtube. I currently still love media and content creation, and do so for a living elsewhere, but this game really altered the course of my history
Thats awesome it was the game that acted like dayz but worked on low spec hardware and got you passionate enough to start a youtube channel. I'm glad it helped grow your passion for what you do today
I started playing deadzone as soon as it came out on roblox. Absolutly loved it! I played deadzone all the way up until its untimely demise. Makes me sad but some of my best roblox memories were on deadzone. I switched over to Unturned and its now my most played game on steam. Nelson will forever be apart of my childhood.
It was probably my favorite game on Roblox at the time, I would get home from school and play it every day. I never knew the Unturned creator made deadzone, which kinda amazes me, because I also got hooked on Unturned for several years as well
Man i remember watching my favorite youtubers playing Unturned together, Good times of 2016 Also Your skills in editing and video making are seriosly underrated! you have 1 new subscriber :)
You have no idea the amount of time me and my friends dumped into deadzone, I was absolutely heartbroken when I wasn’t able to play it anymore, all of the rare items you were able to acquire and the base building completely sucked me in as a kid, unturned is a very solid, fun game but nothing will ever capture that nostalgia that deadzone carried in those days
A lot of old games people will remember more than modern days because of all the time they spent on the game as well as nostalgia purposes making it a fond memory of your past.
I literally got this video on recommendation today. The game is now officially 10 years old! You can get Classic items to Celebrate Unturned's birthday!
I remember playing this game back in 2015 in middle school. I pretty much spent my whole summer playing Unturned with my brothers and cousins. I remember just owning people in servers with my brothers and cousins and staying up all night defending our base from people. I remember in the original map, I stayed up the whole day and night raiding this mini-island with a castle. The good old days, before Nelson decided to add in bullet drop and that's when I decided to quit the game. So did my brothers and cousins. Overall, I was pretty sad that Nelson decided to add in bullet drop but I'm happy to see the game getting the attention it deserves and seeing it get better.
Honestly sounds like you had a blast and I don't honestly think bullet drop is a bad thing in games as it adds detail a game and sense of depth on how the far the person is which does makes it more skill based though.
@@Founder- Yeah, I was just a kid back then and a less skilled one at that. I still pretty much prefer no bullet drop just because it ruined the crossbow for me and took less skill to aim. I just remember using the crossbow one or two shotting people in the head but then again it's good that bullet drop was added because some weapons were too strong with no bullet drop.
God this hit me in the childhood. I was a dead zone addict as a kid played a my brother. Played all the remakes deadzone 2 with all the crazy op weapons and events. Seeing unturned’s trailer made me so hyped as a kid
Very cool I used to play a lot of deadzone back in the day and it was sad to see what happened to his game that forced him to switch to a different platform.
I can't believe how most of games I used to play as a kid were all made by the same person, absolutely mind boggling. Thing-Thing arena, Unturned, the roblox games. Crazy.
One of the things that makes Nelson NELSON is his touch with the community, he pays attention to every single detail in whats happening in his game and that can be degrading his personal life. Anyways he will always be an amazing dev.
deadzone was such a trip playing that game. i remember i used to in contact with him and this group back in teamspeak. one day he added this script where whenever you die you would get a loud screeching noise or something. good times.
Funny thing: I met one of my bestest friends in 2013 when I played his Deadzone mod. We actually ended up forming a dev team mostly made up of former Deadzone modders who were self-taught in game dev from modding Deadzone copies. My friend is Indian so the money he earned from DevEx really made a huge difference in his life!
I remember starting this baby up in 2017. Had so much fun I played it throughout that year. Quit in early 2018 because the server I used to play on died out. Dancing Wolves was the name of the server. I made friends there, very hard to do these days because everyone's either your average sweat, or just doesn't care about making friends, and just wants to hoarde a lot of items before someone else kills him, and loots his stuff. Washington map, well I made my base near the military base. Fun as hell. Had a friend's base in front of me, fully iron, sentries, and whatever there were. Another friend's base closer to the base, and a couple more around. We had a full faction in there. It was so much fun.
Alright, NOSTALGIA TIME Deadzone was not only a very fun and exciting game to play, it is also a place where I met some of my childhood friends. One of those friends I still talk to to this day, and after 11-12 years of knowing each other, in a few hours we'll meet face to face as he's flying over to visit! Deadzone IMO was the better game of the two main zombie games on roblox (Apocalypse Rising being the other one). It had more interesting PVP and gunplay, pretty sure it had bullet physics too. You could save a certain amount of loot in your safezone and it was similar to Escape from Tarkov in a way, because you had to balance whether you wanted good loot or easy to find, cheap weapons and equipment. Do I bring a ghillie suit? Do I bring night vision goggles? Do I bring the Timberwolf, a very, very rare sniper rifle? Apocalypse Rising was very slow paced like said in the video. You'd die and you'd most likely lose all your gear and progress, and so Deadzone was more replayable. Clan battles were so much fun, especially when large player groups would accidentally meet each other and have a huge fight. Nelson was also just a super, super nice guy. Talked to him for a while on the Teamspeak server he used to chat on. He was really down to earth, even though I was 11 and probably very annoying. It was really sweet looking back at it, still grateful to him. I remember I donated 3 dollars for his Unity Pro license, and for the fun of it 7 or so years later I posted on the Unturned forums a message along the lines of: "yo, someone contact Nelson, he promised me gold membership when the game came out on steam!" A lot of people were saying "haha you just want attention, get lost' but someone messaged him and he reached out to me, sent me a steam key, and we chatted about Roblox nostalgia for a bit. Still such a cool memory. Even though I lost interest in the genre when Unturned came out on steam, I'm still very happy for Nelson and I wish I still had some sort of contact with him. I'd love to be there for the journey like in the old days, chatting about video games and just geeking out on game development. Wish him all the best :) Edit: Another thing I'd like to add is, one of the other main reasons for Nelson leaving Roblox was Roblox's updates kept breaking his games. He was working on Deadzone 2 and had made good progress on it, but Roblox kept pushing out updates that broke the game frequently. It was very frustrating.
Man such a cool story that you met a lifelong friend in the game and going to see him very soon. When reading the comments I did hear a lot about Nelson all being really positive with people playing games with him and such but this is a really cool story and glad he did follow through and give you a gold membership. I do wish the guy success that he's currently getting and more. Honestly in 2013 I do feel his pain as Roblox kept updating their stuff and almost every game from the updates kept being dysfunctional and was really painful to be a dev at that time as you made a whole new update for a game few days later new Roblox update that just ruined most of the code in the game so it has to be redone.
This is great content! I love the clean editing and casual chatting of it. It deifnetly felt different then normal documentaries and I enjoyed it for that!
Thank you so much for enjoying it hopefully my next video feels the same way. I made a little teaser on my second channel just so it doesn't clutter main channel videos.
Also something to note that Apocalypse Rising 2 suffered the same fate as Deadzone that it got ruined by hackers and eventually lost its player count from 10k players when it released to only 1k concurrent players playing everyday compared to Unturned who branched off to unity
True in paid beta it wasn't as bad but once it went free to play it went to the roof as people could just use or create a new account and hack again and again.
this game actually inspired me to become a game developer on roblox, i remember studying this fucking game in studio, both inside and out. this game was the motivational breaker between me playing lego games as a kid back in 2013 when this game was prime and the game had gotten leaked/uncopylocked. and as a kid i had always been curious how a roblox game works so i would sit for months looking at this guys code and learn from it. i never knew the roblox developer wiki existed or anything, i simply just experimented and did progression as i messed with everything. this taught me a lot and gave me a position to start from. thank you nelson for inspiring me and others!
That's the way I learn the code if I'm being honest I was working on a game that used the Miners Haven open source code figuring out how it worked to modify the code to make it work for a game I was wanting to make which was a city builder sort of game.
@@Founder- yeah man it’s really lovely to realize these guys set a standard for us and they gave us examples on how to make amazing things on roblox with so little. the engine is way more advanced now and i’m glad we can see more games, i just wish they were as unique as deadzone once was.
Amazing video! I want to tell you there's a game was inspired by 2009 Deadzone called Project Delta created by Solter and it has been in development for 2 year and a half. Solter has other past games he made but 2 of his got DMCA by Facepunch because his 2 games have the same idea as Rust.
I did not know of this I'll have a look into it thank you. Does sound like a really interesting story and Rust itself was inspired by DayZ if im not mistaken
sadly, im pretty sure the "old one" was left, because they made a Project Delta in 2021, a copy of EFT(Escape From Tarkov) basically, ive played it with a few friends, it has the same systems. I cant believe unturned became what it is right now because of roblox, just to show you that you cant always trust popular sites.
Holy crap, talking about deadzone has unlocked like some sort of core memory of me playing that game, i didnt know it was made by the same guy that made unturned, which i ended up getting addicted to around 2017/ 2018 i think
I also remember playing AR1, and how bad that game got with hackers and exploiters, who would literally teleport you to them and shoot you in the head to steal your loot
Me and my friends actually played both of apoc rising and deadzone at the peak of its time and its amazing to see these games finally getting the reconition it deserves
I recall the beginning of all of this. It was wild, and I can relate having suffered a lot of childhood trauma myself. I don't remember very large portions of my childhood, pretty much everything before 12 is a blur, with occasional vivid memories that nobody else recalls. I dunno what happened to me to this day to cause all this memory loss, but I know whose fault it is.
Man... I remember back in the day where I helped him with his testing of new guns and such for the game. I was even one of the moderators for the game. Used to be in close contact with the guy, haven't talked a single day with him since in recent years.
@@Founder- I wonder too. Majority of my interaction was back during the Roblox days with Deadzone. VaseenThePie was the account I used at the time. I did help for a time with the testing phase with Unturned, but around late 2013, early 2014 I ended up moving on to the rest of my life at the time.
I'll definitely have to put one into the works then as a few people been asking for one so I'll have to read over lore of the game n write a script up at some point. Got like 5 video ideas 3 being on zombie history 1 being on immortal games that shown test of time and that.
Loved the video, Unturned is one of my favorite games, been playing it since time and existence. You NEED more subs dude, that's some quality content right here.
Unturned really has a special place man. It was the first game that allowed me to host multiple servers called "Fragile/Fragile Servers/FragileNETWORK" (if anyone still remembers lol) and have a form of success in. From there developing plugins for other server owners through RocketMOD like the Death-Messages plugin (again.. if anyone still remembers 🤣) doing insanely well racking up tens of thousands of downloads, even till extremely late in like 2020 seeing my plugin still being revisioned by other community members. I sometimes miss those days, entertaining players on our servers and having interesting conversations with other developers and server owners while programming some really ambitious projects really contributed to where I am today in terms of programming and server hosting. Thanks Nelson! :)
I love Apoc R2. I have hundreds of hours on it. They have a new map coming next month or sometime this year. However the exploiters really ruin the game. It sucks because there are many loopholes in the anti cheat and as soon as there is a patch, there are more and more exploiters. Playing unturned feels a lot better because there are hundreds of servers up that you can play on while also being protected by good anti cheat. Anyways just giving my thoughts on the games.
I remember deadzone as it was a game I always played with an old friend back when we were in grade school. Never had I imagine that unturned was related to it till I saw this video
I remember playing Deadzone when I was a kid with my brother. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but they even used to have bosses and magma rifles and snipers and it was so damn fun! The Nostolgia man ahhhh. Thank you, Nelson.
Yeah I'll be honest I do that a lot when reading a script always ends up happening. Hopefully I can sort that out overtime. Thank you very much for the support.
Never messed with Deadzone myself as around that time I was too interested in Tycoon games on Roblox. But at some point a random I was playing GMod with had me try Unturned 1.0 with him- admittedly it was basically just an excuse to kill me over and over to take any gear I'd get and turned me away for a while, but I eventually gave 2.0 a shot and ended up playing it quite a lot ever since then. Having racked at least around 500 hours into 2.0 before 3.0 got released, and now having close to 2.2k hours as of today. I had quite a lot of experiences playing Unturned 2.0 and 3.0- surprisingly most of it on private servers too, as none of my group cared enough to fight against other players when we knew we'd never be around. The game now sits in my steam library having not been touched in over 3 years however; as there's only so much we could do with it before finding interest elsewhere in other 'Survival Crafting Zombie etc etc' games, and eventually splintering apart some years after. The game did shape quite a lot of my formative years though, and I'm glad I played it as much as I did.
Damn that's a really cool story, you have played more or less all the stages of Unturned but yeah I can get what you mean after a while there's so much you can do in a game that you slowly distance yourself from it. Though that's one of the main reasons why I enjoy games that offer mod support as modding adds so much and can even extend the replay value of a game by completely reworking how the game functions.
@@Founder- For sure, our modlists for unturned got pretty big while we still played. But a while back we slowly started ramping back down as it were- bellcurve and all that; I actually went back and fooled around with it a little after commenting and tried the Arid curated map and was honestly having quite a lot of fun with it even with it being unmodded, because of how much it's changed the base gameplay loop
it is actually a really good video with good editing, however, unfortunately, I must point out that your diction is lacking quite alot. This will be fixed simply over time passing, but I really recommend you to read a lot and perhaps record it just for yourself to see if you made any mistakes that would potentially throw viewers off. It is going to improve video's quality tremendously, and man, I wish you the best of luck on youtube, cuz i can see a diamond in a rough right here

@@Founder- just don't forget to take as much tries as you need until it's good, speak out problematic sentences till you get em right and only then record
I will thank you. I do take a couple tries to even get the sentence right and I still mess up but in videos after current one I'll try as many times to get it right as well as try to make what I'm reading visibly easier to read to reduce it happening.

True just shows no matter what age you can give it a go and see where it goes. I do think the style of the game gives it the most charm and most Triple A games do feel similar and not have their set identity.
@@Founder- they feel simmilar becasue they are made on industry stanards, unturned on the other hand was made by one 16 year old person that wanted to make his own thing
I would like to say that I vaguely remember a sequel called Deadzone 2 from Nelson being a thing, however it was only like a loading screen. I think this was before the web version of Unturned was released.
God I still recall playing Deadzone back then when I was 13, same with Apocalypse Rising. Till it shutdown, and Apoc Rising signing it's death by moving on from Reimagined map and leaving it to exploiters.

I never even knew he made Deadzone on Roblox. I didnt like those types of games but Deadzone was my rare exception, and i ended up playing that game for a long time untill it became too old to update. If i still have the data, I have a excessive amount of good items.
I first started playing the game in '14 with 2.0, shoot I remember typing in 'OPERATIONMAPLELEAF' to get access to early 3.0. Might still have a ton of the old screenshots, it was a lot of fun and absolutely wonderful to have witnessed all of the development. I haven't really played it much recently, but I have received access to 4.0 and fiddled around with that - hopefully Nelson can get himself up 'n standing strong! He's a real cool dev, but should definitely take as much time as he needs. Burnout and mental health issues are definitely things that can really impact ya' having known from experience.

man I remember loving Deadzone, I was devastated when it went offline. I played recreations and copies all the way up until 2019 when the genre mostly died.
had no idea the same creator made Unturned, another game I have 300+ hours in
Glad you learnt something new. Deadzone was a really good game but it's understandable why it got shut down.
Deadzone Remade by Reyne was pretty fun after Deadzone went offline. but then like all games just die off.
@@krisgriffen6290 Deadzone Remade... my beloved...
game uses same art style but your brain doesnt make the connection lol
@@krisgriffen6290I genuinely miss deadzone remade because that was my exposure for deadzone
It for sure is one of those games that with people makes it 10x better than alone.
This is actually the game that introduced me to the Internet, its bizarrely important to my life lol. God I remember finding forums and talking to others. It was so incredible.
Man its going to be a game you will remember for life. A game that did that to me was like Minecraft as I played it so much.
Good job my man. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much I appreciate it.
Hallo team
@@Jemsie hi
I’ve played unturned since I was 14 or so; I’m 22 now. It’s crazy to hear Nelson’s still updating it
Damn you been with the game for along time and yeah its still good to see him continue to support the game.

I played apocalypse rising SOOOOO long ago and until seeing this video I had forgotten all about it! That game was probably what got me into the survival genre and is why I downloaded Unturned back in 2014, to this day I have over 2k hours on Unturned and can't wait for the sequel.
Damn nice they're pretty good games and I cant wait to see what he does with Unturned in due time.
from 2014 u managed to get only 2k hours???
I grew up with Unturned since late 2014. Its still a great survival sandbox game to play today.

Just to show how many bad people there are, theres the ones that disguise themselfs that do barely any work and look like they're working, and the ones who just want anything by any means
Like many people quoted, "Nothing is worse than a man that has nothing to lose."
@@NicoLas-xy3ew sheesh, yeah I've never been a fan of roblox's way of handling these problems. And it doesn't look like it'll improve any time soon because they barely even publicly acknowledge such issues.

i can agree.
Roblox will TARGET the fuck out of you if you dont tell them "this shit aint a ban worthy or a warn worthy g"
Matter of fact is, a lot of people that posted memes and beef were banned for racism as well.
This is why roblox is just going downhill.

barely played unturned but Deadzone was the best alternative to apoc rising. i don't even play roblox anymore but this got me very nostalgic. this makes me want to give unturned another try. i still love these zombie survival + PVP games.
i remember when i was like 14 and my friends would come to my place w their laptops and stood all night just playing Unturned as well as Minecraft because it was so easy to set up servers on LAN.
seeing the images from the early access gameplay brings me a lot of memories, i hope the best for Nelson
Man sounds like a blast. I hope for the best with him.
I never knew the Unturned creator made deadzone, which kinda amazes me, because I also got hooked on Unturned for several years as well
im pretty sure you are the first person ever to make an actaully well built video about story of easli 1 of the best games ever

You're welcome for that. Great games.

Excited for the project zomboid video, keep on putting up the effort into these videos, I found this video very entertaining.
Thank you very much and I will I plan on uploading soon hopefully this week then working on a Project Zomboid video.
Great video, really good quality and an enjoyable watch.
Thank you very much i appreciate it.
Bold of these people to say deadzone is copy of apoc rising when apoc rising is literally pretty much a carbon of the og DayZ mod for arma2
This video was so nostalgic, I havn't heard or seen anything about Deadzone in about 7 years
unturned will always have my nostalgia love
I can't believe how most of games I used to play as a kid were all made by the same person, absolutely mind boggling.
Thing-Thing arena, Unturned, the roblox games.
Crazy.
Crazy isn't it they started on a small platform then moved onto bigger n better things.
One of the things that makes Nelson NELSON is his touch with the community, he pays attention to every single detail in whats happening in his game and that can be degrading his personal life. Anyways he will always be an amazing dev.
Amazing video and "review" btw
I've heard a lot of good things about him in the comments from other people detailing him as a really nice guy.

Lol was doing a light bit of trolling even years ago.
Damn thats really cool at least the game helped him make a huge difference in his life.
Sounds like a blast glad you had fun on this game
Alright, NOSTALGIA TIME
Deadzone was not only a very fun and exciting game to play, it is also a place where I met some of my childhood friends.
Wish him all the best :)
Edit:
Another thing I'd like to add is, one of the other main reasons for Nelson leaving Roblox was Roblox's updates kept breaking his games.
Just a little note so no one gets confused, Roblox did not invent Lua or create it, rather they maintain a fork called LuaU.
Didn't know it was LuaU thought it was just Lua. But yeah you're right.
Dude gave me a memory unlock I havent had since one of the old yogscast videos popped up in my feed
Keep up the great work, you deserve more credit.

Damn sorry to hear that hopefully you start to remember the past or chose not to up to you but hopefully it goes alright for you.
Man... I remember back in the day where I helped him with his testing of new guns and such for the game. I was even one of the moderators for the game. Used to be in close contact with the guy, haven't talked a single day with him since in recent years.
Damn that's a really cool you got to do that. I wonder if he would still remember you.
Very nice video. Keep it up👍

The one detail about this video I appreciate most is the really old peggy song for the outro song
I love JPEGMAFIA and it just so happens that the ghost pop tape fit the style of music I was using in the video.

Underrated and you deserve a lot more subs
Thank you so much I do appreciate it.
Damn glad Unturned holds a special place in your heart that saw you develop plugins for the game and just had a lot of fun playing it.
It's really Roblox's fault for forcing developers to code their own anti cheat systems instead of providing one.
Awwww man, I miss deadzone. A game where I developed extreme gear fear and still have it to this day.
A lot of people are like that in Rust.
I remember deadzone as it was a game I always played with an old friend back when we were in grade school. Never had I imagine that unturned was related to it till I saw this video
You learn something new everyday how he's gone from Roblox to Steam is quite the leap.
I remember playing Deadzone when I was a kid with my brother. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but they even used to have bosses and magma rifles and snipers and it was so damn fun! The Nostolgia man ahhhh. Thank you, Nelson.
Got so much history with the game, glad it was really enjoyable for you.
You seemed to somewhat tangle and stutter as You spoke. But overall - It's very good and informative video. Keep up the good work!
Yeah I'll be honest I do that a lot when reading a script always ends up happening. Hopefully I can sort that out overtime. Thank you very much for the support.
Nice video, didn't expect to watch something like that today, but hey.
Wish a nice recovery to Nelson
How was DayZ not mentioned once
I do realize I should've talked about it with Apoc 1 as that was a major inspiration for it.
This game cannot fail unless it sells its soul to EA.
Probably not as long as its indie it shall thrive like look at New Blood. Ultrakill became a cult classic.
True
Unturned was part of my childhood. and i still love the game to this day. Thanks
You're very welcome.
it is actually a really good video with good editing, however, unfortunately, I must point out that your diction is lacking quite alot. This will be fixed simply over time passing, but I really recommend you to read a lot and perhaps record it just for yourself to see if you made any mistakes that would potentially throw viewers off. It is going to improve video's quality tremendously, and man, I wish you the best of luck on youtube, cuz i can see a diamond in a rough right here
I gotten a ton of these comments but yeah I 100% know what you mean I do tend to stumble on my words which I have done for many years now when trying to read stuff but overtime I'm hoping I end up sounding smooth.
I remember playing deadzone, it was my favorite game for awhile on Roblox. Had no idea the dude created unturned too.
Glad you learnt something new.
Brave opinion, Apocalypse Rising 1 is the best roblox game
The worst thing about it is that it got nuked by cheaters
@@myvalekcz6656 yes and I've gotten used to losing all my stuff to cheaters but when you do find a server that has like 7 people and no cheaters its fun
Nice video lad, you have alot of potential. Your commentery is very good.
Thank you very much that means a lot.
UNTURNED 2.0 is Gold
True it was pretty good.
What a throwback. I played ALL of these games never knowing they were all connected.
You learn something new everyday.
its a shame that unturned 4.0 has been cancelled it was so promising
It wasn't cancelled, what are you talking about?
@@mssagim nelson candled it about a year ago now
@@dbamproductions1519 It wasn't cancelled, It was postponed.
@@mssagim As of May 11, 2022 the game's development has been indefinitely paused.
Unturned is the game i grew up with, same as ton of my friends but i didnt knew he first started on roblox, and the fact he did it all in this young age is amazing and since i heard abount his problems i hope the best for this man!
i love how unturned has its own simple style and how popular it is among every AAA game, when you look at the steam most popular games it will always be on the high place and it should always be there
True just shows no matter what age you can give it a go and see where it goes. I do think the style of the game gives it the most charm and most Triple A games do feel similar and not have their set identity.
@@Founder- they feel simmilar becasue they are made on industry stanards, unturned on the other hand was made by one 16 year old person that wanted to make his own thing
Pretty much like New blood atm are massive because Ultrakill became a cult classic due to just how fun it is to play even while being in early access.
roblos transfred to styeam
Pretty much.
I would like to say that I vaguely remember a sequel called Deadzone 2 from Nelson being a thing, however it was only like a loading screen. I think this was before the web version of Unturned was released.
The dude created my favorite games for 3years consecutively =).
God I still recall playing Deadzone back then when I was 13, same with Apocalypse Rising. Till it shutdown, and Apoc Rising signing it's death by moving on from Reimagined map and leaving it to exploiters.
those were the times fr
This style reminds me of ahoy, keep up the good work man!
Thank you he is one of my favourite channels to watch with AveragePixel when he uploads after 3 years of working on a video, Lemmino and Cruppz for zombie world record histories.
first video ive seen, but i love it. you seem more natural than other creators and idk, somethings different about you. good job man and keep it up.
I don't honestly know what to say to that but I'll try be as natural as I can lol. Thank you very much for the kind words.
Hey man, this video is very well crafted! I was pretty surprised to see you only have 1k subs but anyways good work and im definitely looking forward to more vids!
Thank you very much for your support hopefully my next video will be just as good. I posted a lil teaser on my second channel if you want to have a look.
@Founder Yooo! I just watched it and i can definitely say im going to be a long time viewer and im hella hyped. At some point maybe you could make a discord server if you havent already for people to discuss various games and hangout or somthing.
I might set one up when I put out another video I'm in way too many servers lol.
damn bro can't believe you got only 250 subs keep up the good work this was an amazing watch
Thank you very much i appreciate the kind words
i played 1.0 and still go back to it from time to time miss the old days
I remember being 14 with 5 of my friends in my living room with me all of us on our laptops playing unturned those were the days man
I remember playing deadzone ages ago, I miss deadzone. It was a really fun game to be honest. I feel bad for his account being hacked. I loved deadzone.
But! I never knew it caused the developer to create unturned which I also use play a hell of alot ages ago. I never knew that he created deadzone which is really cool
i actually thought i was watching a large youtuber, how do you only have 800 subs??? keep making the good content man!
Will do thank you so much!
The apocalypse rising thumbnail gave me major flashbacks
Fr classic game
BATTLEFIELD was one of my favorite Roblox games of all time. It was so much fun, and I played it so much.
I definitely do remember playing it from a while ago and it being pretty good.
Crazy this is your most popular video your whole channel seems entertaining as hell, i wish nothing but the best for you sir keep pursuing and you will keep succeeding
Thank you so much I have a lot of things to get better on so I'm just thankful this video did propel my channel up but I still will continue to improve on the stuff I make.
I remember playing Unturned years ago, I had no idea it was still so popular. You don’t really see it talked about a whole lot.
Other than if you search it up you see a lot more but I didn't really see much on how the game got to where it was.
That is incredibly well made! good job my guy
Thank you so much.
Holy shit ur channel is so underrated. I tought i was watching someone with atleast 100k subs but then i realised u only have 300. Kepp up the good work buddy.
Thank you very much for the kind words. I will try to keep improving the videos I create.
