    I got this Yard Machines riding mower on trade and was told it ran and drive and just needed a deck spindle after hitting a root. Turns out he was right! In this video I put on a good spindle and do my best to show how you take off the deck and put it back on which is the hardest part of the whole job.

    Excellent job as always, replacing the spindle, getting it running again in order to cut grass. Lots of people like those as mudding mowers, MTD usually seem to be the primary choice for that. This is also a lesson in, watch where your mowing, otherwise you put a hole in your deck, and blow out your spindle!

    Wow this seems to be a really good running mower. Great fix on the spindle and getting it ready for someone's lawn. Make sure you show us the transmission swap on the next tractor. Thanks for the videos.

    That bad on mtd yard machines. I know how that deck is I had to do that on a yardman tractor I had to take it off to replace a drive pulley on it . It was a pain lol . Still a solid tractor there and good to have parts on hand to fix that spindle 🔧👍

    I have the same mower with the deck off. It is a real pain to do. I came here to watch you put it back on. You didn't show us, you just went by the important part to show us you cutting grass. NTG.

      Hey Murray, did you find a good site to show this? All I had to do was take some pics before taking it off. I don't know how my question gets to you, but I may be awhile. Roy

    Hello Casey. I have a question for you;, My MTD YardMachines mower is really similar to this tractor except it has the 21hp Intek engine and has the 46 inch mower deck with the PTO engagement lever on the dash console and the deck height lever to the right as the tractor in the video has. My deck is lower on the left side than on the right side in which in reverse I am getting the ridging more so than going forwards. I have the adjustment brackets that have the nut that is seni enclosed within the adjustment brackets in which I think that there may be 2 and my right side are the slotted brackets similar to the ones on the John Deere mower decks. Do you have any specific videos regarding these crazy adjustment brackets??? Otherwise the tractor works flawlessly. I have recently been having to mow at my mother and sisters residence and have really noticed the ridging this past weekend.

      I don't have vids on that but am familiar with what you're talking about I think. It's just a matter of trial and error with that nut setup on the side to side adjustment. They can be a little tricky to get level since you're kind of limited in what you can do.

      @@EllisMowersandmore I have really learned the hard way that with all of the many variations with the MTD mower decks that it is very hard indeed to ask what should be a simple question.
      And Yes, I appreciate my John Deere and vintage Cub Cadet mower decks even more than ever.
      Casey, Are the AYP/Husqvarna products similar in design to the MTD mower decks?

    • @EllisMowersandmore
      @EllisMowersandmore  2 года назад +1

      @@TheIronDuke502 The AYP ones seem easier to level because they have an adjustment on both sides as well as both sides in the front. Just lower the deck all the way down and you have a 9/16" nut you can loosen and tighten pretty easily.

      @@EllisMowersandmore Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. I’m thinking of replacing the mower deck wheels and some other minor stuff just for good measure .
      A few days ago, I found a really nice 38 inch John Deere mower deck on eBay in which it was delivered today. I had forgotten how heavy that the older style John Deere mower decks were.
      The funny thing was that I paid just a few dollars more for the whole entire mower deck than what the double stack pulley would have cost from John Deere. The mower deck which is in very nice condition seems to be just about as heavy in weight than what my 165 tractor seems to be. Man, I am pretty happy but yet worn out from tugging on that heavy mower deck.

    Deck removal 101 study the mower deck before you decide to go forward on this.matter I had to study long and hard on removal of the deck on my craftsman gt tractor the thing is make sure to take pictures of the belts for the deck

    I have the same mower but mine won't move and burns up the belt at the drive pulley below the engine.

    • @EllisMowersandmore
      @EllisMowersandmore  Год назад

      You have a stuck pulley somewhere. My guess is your varidrive pulley is not turning. It's under the panel where the shifter is between your legs. 2 screws takes the panel off and you can access it from there.

      @@EllisMowersandmore thank you. That's what I am thinking also after doing some research. This is my first ever riding mower. I took the deck off I am just using it as a go cart.
