Interesting, and useful - including for using HA to automate ports for entirely different uses, namely opening ports to recertify SSL certs.
What I will also say however is that once I migrated to using Tailscale with HA and just using the Tailscale IP as the main HA IP in the mobile app, I never again needed to care about secure external HA access. It just ‘works’, no need to care about ports and unauthorised access.

Would it be possible to do the same, but with sending a shutdown command instead? If so, could you make a tutorial for that?
I will be integrating a UPS with HA, and would like to send a shutdown command to the UDM SE once the battery level reaches a certain percentage, in case of a longer term power outage

Ooooh, that's a great idea! I have a UPS here as well, and getting it integrated into HA is on my (long!) to-do list. Might be a while before I get to this, but when I do, I'll definitely make a video about it.
      Thanks for watching!!

The UniFi Network integration for Home Assistant provides a "switch" entity for each rule so you can directly disable or enable rules with a simple standard automation.
No reason to bother with URLs, CURL or JSON.
I don't have a Dream Machine, I just run Unifi server in a Linux VM. Anyone with ubiquity equipment should have a Unify server or Cloud Key providing the same features.

Yeah, that didn't exist 2 years ago when I implemented this, or even when I filmed it... LOL Robban just added that a month or so ago I think.
However, there are lots of other things you can do with this aside from simply enabling or disabling firewall rules. As I mentioned in the video, be creative, send other commands. There's another comment on here where a guy wants to be able to send a shutdown command to a UDMP-SE. I don't think Robban has added that to the integration just yet.
The same basic premise is used in a much earlier video that I mentioned, about automatically changing passwords on WiFi networks.
      Think outside the box! :)
      Thanks for watching!
