Just get a pac safe backpack. I've had mine for over 10 years now, still in great shape. Cut proof, zippers have a little latch to lock them together and you can also lock them down in a hidden pocket so it's quite a pain to undo and unzip. Love mine.

Backpack zippers meeting at the top? Usually, when we see someone walking with a backpack that's open and their stuff falling out, leaving a trail behind them, it's because the zippers split from the top and worked their way to each side. Clamshell wide open. I choose to zip them both to the right or to the left. Just sayin'

I haven't seen that but if the zippers themselves are loose, a small zip tie or fastener works great.

Baby safe diaper pins (by Dritz) are fantastic for locking the zipper pulls…they have a slide locking mechanism that doesnt come undone if you push on them
