"Don't come in here with half a thing!" Gotta love the way Toby goes incoherent sometimes. Only thing that tops that is the "You wanna provoke the wrath of the whatever from high-atop the thing? Then go outside, turn around three times and spit!"
"That family is going to be able to get up the hill if we increase fuel efficiency standards." "That family isn't gonna get up the hill 'cos Dad's trying to pull the kids, the camping gear, Rex the dog, and what appears to be his den, up K2 in a Ford Falcon."
Toby could lower the temperature a little, but he's absolutely right. This is basic professionalism 101. Don't go to your boss to point out a problem, and then give a flat "no" when you're asked for a solution. At the very least, have some brainstorming done first.
I recall that Richard Schiff struggled with Sorkin’s dialogue until he discovered how to slow it way down. Everyone else rattles it off at hyper speed (especially Whitford and Janey) but Schiff found Toby’s voice in a more halting morose kind of manner. Except, when he’s ranting and it speeds up, but even then, there are pauses and breaks. These really show a nice range of emotion within a character that could have been one note. Over the years, Toby always seems to display a lot of emotion but it always comes across more subtly than say, Josh.
Don't come in here with, half a thing and not be able to you know, after you walked me to the brink and say we've gotta do this, its important though I have no earthly idea how! You run the risk of incurring the wrath of whatever from high atop the thing.
I love how the President's head speechwriter COMPLETELY forgets how to put words together when he gets worked up.
"Don't come in here with half a thing!"

"How did the Hollywood types get into this equation?"
"I don't know. How do they ever?"
Toby is incoherent but right. You don’t go to your boss with a problem, you go to your boss with a problem and a solution.
"Like one of those guys who buys a big new thing, then doesn't know how to get the most out of it." THE best line in the whole scene.
'Don't come here with half a thing..and, you know...after you've walked me to the brink...' True in life as in art.

Toby's saying, Bring me solutions, not problems.
To the posters below. The show was not canceled. They decided to end it when Bartlet's term was done.

"She looks worried because Dad is dragging a YARD SALE up Kilimanjaro, and she's thinking, 'Wow! I married an idiot!'" LOLOLOL!!!
Remember what made Toby this way.
"Don't come to me with half a thing..!"
My favorite ramt is the death tax episode where he has to compromise and he keeps repeating, "so i go to this meeting"

It didn't. It finished. Big difference.
Will was a welcome addition for someone who needs to vent.
There are days when I feel like Toby Ziegler. I rant and rave against the universe and I'm told I should get a dog. Nobody gets me.
the poster put an extra nasal filter on these guys.
