    Great idea of using old blades for doing a first trim and the new ones for the last trim.

    It’s great to find a “regular guy” giving a really great review..... not one of the “wassup guys” type of reviewer!
    I found the review very interesting and having changed from a Philips Senseotouch 9 series I find the shave far superior. The really interesting thing is I usually come out with razor burn with a foil razor but not with the new Braun 9390cc.
    If the head on my Braun lasts 12 months I’d be very happy as my Philips Senseo 9 last about six months! ..... If I get 18 months I’ll be ecstatic!
    I’ve subscribed to your reviews as I found your delivery so natural.

    On the cleaning charging stand, I have the Braun Series 9, 9370cc and I have used the cleaning and charging stand since day one. It ALWAYS get the razor super clean, and there's no gunk or residue inside afterwards. I do dry shave, never use any lotion or gel, or shaving cream. From my understanding, if you do, You have to wash the razor out afterwards to remove the cream or gel, then place in the stand. The only thing i do after shaving is I remove the head, tap it out in the sink, then blow a few breaths at the razor body and shake it over the sink. Replace the head and put in the cleaner/charger and press on! Takes 15 seconds! Then walk away and let it clean, disinfect and charge the shaver! I never see anything inside afterwards...

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  2 года назад

      Yes it can all go into the base where the cleaning liquid sits. Sometimes it might gunk up in the entry where the razor sits but as you found it’s unlikely.

      I cover in my videos in the shaving playlist that going slow actually takes longer. And pressure is actually in electric shaver manuals to say to increase it. It all depends on your skin and what you are trying to achieve. After all these years I think I know my skin better than you know my skin.

    I bought mine without the cleaning station and agree it is not necessary. I continually rinse the blade at least 3-4 times per shave under cold water. Once after the neck, once after each side, and once after the chin and moustache. When I'm finished, I remove the head and rinse it under hot water then leave it on a towel to dry overnight. In the morning I put it back on and spray Andis Cool Care while it's running to sanitize and lubricate, then put a drop of clipper oil on my finger and rub it all over the foils before storing it until the next shave. Mine definitely looks cleaner than yours in the "after cleaning" pictures you showed, but I'm doing my best to really make this thing last a long time.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  6 лет назад

      Sounds like you wet shave with it, using foam/gel? Thanks for sharing your routine. More info is always welcome.

    • @BlakeSuperior_Beats
      @BlakeSuperior_Beats 6 лет назад

      Yes, I apply a clear shave gel prior to shaving and it softens my facial hair and allows the shaver to glide smoothly against the skin without causing irritation. I found for my coarse beard I can go 3 days MAX between shaves, but every other day is optimal. If I try to shave every day with a regular razor my skin gets very irritated, and even every other day can cause some irritation, but with the series 9 I could shave daily without irritation, though I hardly ever do.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  6 лет назад

      :) good to hear you found a way that works as I know the pains of irritation. I had it when younger but now not so much though I doubt I could ever wet shave with a double edge razor daily. I can dry shave daily with the series 9. I may try what you do with some oil as I have found sometimes my hair gets too dry to be caught in the razor and applying some castor oil or something similar (wrinkle aging product etc) to my face allows the razor to catch more hair the next day.

    I have used my braun series 7, 1-2 time per week and i have changed my first set of blades after almost 3 years. Braun electric shavers are the best in my opinion , followed very close by Panasonic.
    PS. There is no point of changing the blades before you hit the 2 year mark ...

    All you have to do is rinse the razor with the foil off over the blades and foils, then put It in the docking station and run the clean cycle. It still sterilizes the razor, lubricates, drys and recharges it. It takes an additional 10 seconds to rinse it first but you can assemble it, dock it, run the cycle and not think about it again. Always rinse so that it keeps your station, and razor even cleaner.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  6 лет назад

      I do that sometimes but rinsing waters down the cleaning solution so you don’t get the fresh clean smell and doesn’t clean it as good.

    • @michaeldodd9671
      @michaeldodd9671 6 лет назад

      Not sure we're talking about the same thing.. I just mean rinsing the razor before using the cleaning station. This way it rinses off all the loose hairs first. Then using the cleaning station after the rinse will do a much better job of cleaning, lubricating, drying, and then charging the razor. Your razor will be VERY clean this way. I don't recommend watering down the cleaning solution. This also keeps the cleaning station VERY clean.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  6 лет назад

      Nope we are talking about the same thing. Oil and water don’t mix.

    • @mad3max3
      @mad3max3 6 лет назад

      I started doing this. The problem is the cartridge runs out whether its clean or dirty putting it in the docking station.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  6 лет назад

      Madd Maxx It will run out. If you feel the cleaning fluid is still good for more uses have you tried taking it out and putting it back in? remember oil and water do not mix so if you are putting a wet shaver in the cleaning station you will be mixing the cleaning fluid with water.

    I bought the Braun S9 Pro a couple of months ago. Loved the shaving experience. However after each shave it indicated the water drops to clean it in the station. No matter how much I clean it, the water drop only disappears after I use the cleaning station. Exchanged it to a new one because the shop said it must be faulty.
    The new one 1st shave out of the box for the same. And then after the clean I shaved in 2 days. Again the same result. No matter how much I clean it, the indicator only goes away after cleaning in the station. Is this normal?
    I sadly returned the 2nd unit and got the money back. But really loved the shaver. Want to clarify this. So I can buy this again.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  Год назад +1

      Yes that’s normal. Just their way of getting you to buy more cleaning station product. Don’t fall for it. You don’t need to clean it in the cleaning station that often if you don’t want to. Hope that helps.

      Thank you so much for your reply. That makes sense.
      The weird thing was regardless of how clean the shaver is, it always suggested the deep clean with the 3 lights on the cleaning station. Not sure how the "smart sense" works suggesting the different cleaning levels.

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54  Год назад +1

      Yea the smart sense doesn’t make sense. If I remember correctly in the base station it only tells you if the cleaning solution is dirty and needs changing, then the cleaning station stops working until you change the cartridge.

    mate, if you want better results, then wash your face (just water will do) before shaving, pad dry with a towel, then wait for about 4 minutes and apply electric pre-shave lotion on the face, wait 10 seconds and then shave .......... I promise you, the shaver will glide on your face without any discomfort, and also it will give you such a close, clean, smooth, and redness free shave thanks to the electric pre-shave lotion (I have been using electric shavers for more than 30 years) and at the beginning, I shaved without pre-electric lotion; it was very uncomfortable and the irritation I used to get was really bad, then I discovered the electric pre-shave lotion ......... it was the end of irritation, redness and now I get the most comfortable electric shaves ever.

      the pre-shave lotion works better on dry skin (it get rid of the oil on the face) and at the same time lubricating it, leaving a layer on where the shaver glides and cut the hair effortless, gaining a much closer and smooth shave; 4 minutes is just to make sure your face is complete "dry" and cooled down as the skin contracts with the cold water (in other words it gets tense) so when relax the skin is less prepense to redness and burns that occur when the skin hasn't had enough time to relax period to shaving.
      This works for me, I used to put the pre-shave lotion right after washing my face and it was not doing any good to my skin then I tried leaving the face to relax a bit (3 to 4 minutes) following some advice about shaving with electric shaver on the internet and it worked perfectly; but you can do the way that suits you better.

Every time 3 drops show on the cleaner (max clean) and the cartridge is empty now after 6 weeks. Fluid not very dirty at all. Does yours show 3 drops every time you put it in? Can you change the cleaning program from max to quick? Thanks

      I put mine in everyday and sometimes it shows 1, sometimes it shows 2. It depends on how long you shaved for to how many drops it shows. If you do a quick shave it will show 1 drop. You are seeing 3 drops because you have used it a lot. Its probably fixed to make us buy more cleaning fluid ;-)
      You can always make your own fluid mix at a cheaper rate, but you will invalidate the warranty as Braun are being A holes.

      Not bad. I’ve used it in the shower before. The best is to make sure your face isn’t dry. Your skin isn’t dried out. If you dry shave all the time putting some oil on your face helps the razor pick up the hairs easier. I put castor oil on my face every now and then just because I happen to have some. Oil on before bath/shower, shave later or in morning.
      I don’t use shaving cream that often as I like the ease of dry shaving.

    He must have gone over the same areas 15 to 20 times, even with the brand new blades. It looks like an ad of why not to buy an electric razor.

      Tom Chesney any perceived negatives are worth it when you can walk round the house or sit and watch tv whilst shaving meaning you can do other things. You can’t do that wet shaving.

      @@experiment54 I'm in the process of deciding which shaver I want to get I currently have a Norelco three head shaver but it's broken and I won't be able to open it up to clean it again. Because he's using one of the most expensive foil razors I wanted to watch and I left my comments because somebody else said he was shaving too fast and that's why he kept going over and over and over and over. I'm still trying to decide... If you have an opinion of foil over rotary I'd love to hear it.

      Tom Chesney I have more videos in the shaving playlist on my channel. The arc5 from Panasonic is the closest shaver I’ve ever owned but it can take longer to shave than the braun you see in this video due to how close it shaves. Maybe give the other videos a view they may help you decide 😊

      @@experiment54 lol. its all about timing. is you go to fast it doesnt give enough time to do its job and you go over the same spot repeatedly. thanks for review!

      Nah mate. Going slow makes no difference. Infact in many cases it increases the shave time. I talked about it before in other videos. But thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it 😊

      @@experiment54 ok I am new to electric shaving. yesterday was my first. I bought a 9290cc and was very surprised, not as close as a blade but was very close. happy with the braun, they dont include oil or case that holds charger too. only complaints so far. are you in Australia? I am from the states and am half English, maybe were cousins..lol

      I’m from England, Plymouth. We could be related somehow 😊
      I had the braun 9 series then bought the Panasonic arc5 (I have a review of it in the shaving playlist) and it shaves closer. I prefer the convenience of an electric shaver over the mess and time consuming nature of a wet shave.
      Enjoy your shaver it is a very good model 😊

    Better off with a cheap razer ya won't feel robbed then, plus like I said about that rubbish Panasonic these premium razer's are made to Robb are premium money. At the end of the day the truth is my Remington and my cheap aldi £15 razer is as good as that German made plastic rubbish. 👍👍 Thrust me we are ripped of by these premium!!! Robbers

      The Braun is a more substantial build than the Panasonic thats for sure. It feels German in the hand, well built, tough, solid. Nothing like the Panasonic.
