Old pro mechanics used to use diesel to clean drive trains, took off the old grease and oil but left a film on the chain and such, I dunno what that guy was using no doubt a Park product of some kind... judging his stand and tools were Park..After the chain is clean and dried, after you apply fresh lube you'll see the mechanic sealed the chain using grease, very helpful considering it looked cold and probably wet where they were racing.
I believe what they are doing is using degreaser then chain lube. But my mechanic said you can just run the chain through a cloth and just reapply chain lube. So your choice.
5:15 good grief. Blasting high pressure water inside bottom brackets and hubs will only expell the grease and cause wear. But hey, if you have spare cassettes lined up along with 20 spare bikes in case the first one brakes then blasting the bike won't probably matter.
I was thinking of my shimano 105 biopace chainring from 87 as well , good to see were still riding all those years later.... whats the difference between them and the rotor rings ? Same concept ?
Oh yea you definitely should do a full clean with degreaser. I guess if you have nothing else at the moment you could just run the chain through cloth and reapply lube, but you should degrease/lube soon.
correct me if I am wrong but not sure if HIGH pressure water is a good idea being blasted into bottom brackets and head tubes. Yes he wasn't directly on it but still!!
Well, this is a protour team that cleans like that. the bearings are not really an issue, because all bikes will be checked before each race. is there any water in the bearings they will just replace it. However for the rest of us, we might have to be a bit more careful with the high pressure washer..
so do you want to keep your chain clean or greased? and is that just water ? im a new rider! any tips to keep bike running well would be appreciated !!
I'm not sure that's recommended. Constantly reapplying lube without degreasing first would mean all of the abrasive dirt would still be there, which would surely shorten the life of your chain, chainrings, and cassette.
i love all the arm chair experts in the comments. what youre looking at is the culmination of decades of trial and error. save your home brew tips for your group ride buddies.
I rid my bike chain, cassette, and chain ring of grim with a towel drenched in gasoline, then i let it the components air dry and then i lube it with wet lube, dam does it shift so nice afterwards.
Tomas Kalyniuk LOL 😂 After putting on the race oil, he's rubbing waterproof paste (like Vaseline) on the chain so the oil doesn't get washed off in case it rains during the next day's racing. You can see the tub of Morgan Blue "aqua paste" on the side before he applies it, as well as some of it on his fingers if you look carefully. As pro race bikes get washed every day, the extra build up of chain grime from using the thick paste doesn't happen.
i have seen water like that sit in a rear hub for weeks whily riding daily. bad bad idea. unless you are going to break down hubs and cranks do not follow this vid. idiotic.

I guess that bike has to get its bearings regreased after that wash. Goddamn!
+massivejester water proof grease
Wishing I still had my Biopace chain rings from my first race bike in 1987. I'd be cool again.
Just goes to show, heavy rock guitar does indeed go with anything - base jumping to gently polishing a bike.

He's using Morgan Blue products made in Belgium, most pro teams use their
stuff even when sponsored by other cleaning product manufacturers.
baby can do this! you see his hands ? clean as a baby!
Thanks buddy ! is it just bike chain lube?

wash(with soap) bike stores have special products but you can use regular dish soap i believe. google if you can.
A private bike mechanic? Yeah, that would be great..

+MetalSlab Whatever lube they use. Oiling the pivot points. Common derailleur service.
+Will Blenkinsop He has to do 9 of them.
good job
Gorgeous

Does anyone know what the fellow sprayed into the Di2 derailleurs at 4:20? I thought they were supposed to be sealed maintenance-free units.
So much for never using a power washer on your bike. I guess they swap out bearings so much it doesn't matter. I would love to have that job!
I'm not sure that's recommended. Constantly reapplying lube without degreasing first would mean all of the abrasive dirt would still be there, which would surely shorten the life of your chain, chainrings, and cassette.
They would have to be, how else would it survive a rainy day racing?

Does he use grease instead of oil for chain lubing ?
good job team !
that bicycle costs more than my motorcycle
impressing...
I was still riding my Biopace chainrings up until January of this year; didn't make me cool...
is the di2 system okay to be subjected to such wet conditions?
I rid my bike chain, cassette, and chain ring of grim with a towel drenched in gasoline, then i let it the components air dry and then i lube it with wet lube, dam does it shift so nice afterwards.
why would you need to use a pressure washer to clean a bike?
just askin
People complaining they rush wtf! They will have 18+ bikes to clean, at 9 mins each that's a long time
What spray is he using??
seems like hes in a rush
I practically power wash my whole bike, and lube all the bearings and chain.
wash all parts, rinse, then dry, then re lube your chain.
genial
music in a loop
where can i find stand like that?
Its a park tool bicycle stand. You can find it on www.chainreactions.com
Ph-runner thanks Bro
Wasn't the chain rings. They tried.
no, every time I have a grimey cassette I take it to the manual carwash and powerwash it clean.
Probably because he has twenty more to go.
青い鎌みたいなブラシ欲しいなあw
What is he doing at 7:25?
checking the chain tension to make sure the chain doesnt fall off

てんちょの洗車より雑で安心した
Well you can't have one..........
Same brush for brakes/pads as for chain/chainrings/mechs?? And sponge from drive train to the frame??? No go!!!
guess more bikes to clean then just one.
I have one ;)
can u also clean my bike :D
cute, but that guy, got killed of long ago....
to rince it faster... i guess
How you clean and treat someone else's bike and not your own.....
cleans wheel. puts in dirt.
It's easier to clean then.
He messed up the chainrings! :)

自転車って結構ハードに洗っていいんだね
欲しいman POS でも乾かさないと錆びるよ。あとこれはチームのプロのメカニックだから出来る事
Mountain Bikes look bad when they're clean. Never trust a clean mountain bike.
No need to rush a bike like this, miss vital parts and the jobs not done properly? Even scratching the frame with the chain!
oooooooo Kkkk

my bike cooler

idiotic.
I have one too
Is the pistol from which the mechanic is spraying some kind of unit and what kind of brand is it?
