Great video, wonderful day. I think the second fish isn’t a smoothound it’s a spurdog. Have a word with Matt at SW Seabaits to confirm as he has had some monster spurs not far from where you were. Keep up the vids they are class.
New to your channel. Big fan already! You have inspired me not only to get a SIB and ditch the Warrior 175 but also not to spend the winter pining for April when my boat goes on the water when I could get out on a SIB any time and catch other species than Bass! The sense I get from your videos is that like me you're happy just to be out on a beautiful day and the fish are a bonus so it's very therapeutic to watch! I would love to see a video in Poole Harbour or out in Poole Bay if you fancy a challenge a bit further afield!
I hope you enjoy the transition! I’m so spoilt by the fishing on my doorstep in Cornwall I rarely venture further afield, that’s not to say I won’t in the future!
Spur dog . Your lucky with your hand placement. There pal . Smooth hounds spring to end of summer im English Irish waters . Spurs all year round in deep water. But in winter spurs do tend to move inshore
Good video. I like your plaice rig. Most rigs you buy have either one or both hooks above the weight which doesn't make sense to me. I've watched a ton of underwater plaice footage and they almost always go for the bait behind the weight.
I think the first ray was a small eyed ray (not a blonde) and the smoothound looked like a spurdog. Lovely conditions, you are very lucky to live local to that venue. My closest fishing is more than 10 miles away. Hopefully I will get to fish again once lock down is over.
Two species I've never encountered before! I don't take it for granted living in the part of the world that I do. It makes situations like the ones we're in at the moment a bit more bearable!
How do you find sand areas where plaice are ..does one just fish where no rocks are from the chart ....or are there certain areas of sand I should look for on chart Thanks
Do you trailer your Sib everywhere or inflate and deflate each time ? I have a an 11ft Dory style boat and it's not easy finding slipways or hard ground to launch from.
Dry suit and 150 N auto inflating life jacket. Under the suit I will usually wear thermals, thin fleece and medium weight down jacket. The down jacket usually ends up coming off but it’s nice to start toasty.
Another cracking day out on the water, great video thanks for sharing

Great video, nice to see the plaice lip hooked and not too deeply hooked

Cracking video, can’t wait to get my sib bought and be able to get out to the sea!

Hello from ireland and a clean and cook would be awesome for the plaice tight lines
Great session on the plaice Oban

hi thinking of getting a SIB to fish off the Ayrshire Coast do you need a licence etc to use the boat great video hope you put one up of the SIB setup
that's what dreams are made of i cant wait to get out in my new inflatable rib myself
Great video Oban. Does the Hydrus have keel boards?
great video m8 . :)
Any hope of plaice in summer months or just feb March .....is skerries only place worth trying ....

I’ve never trailered a SIB, in my eyes that defeats the purpose of them. I have often put them on a roof rack, this worked well for short journeys
It is definately a spur dog you had there, you can clearly see the spike on its back.
All good so long as a big smooth hound don't take your light gear.
Do plaice go further from shore ...guess that’s why you go 3 miles out
Hi mate great video is that sandbanks in Dorset? I’ve just brought a sib and have no clue on where in sandbanks to launch it
Baiter Park or Studland Beach!
Hi oban you done well m8 and it was a spurdog OK m8
Good video. What's the outfit you wear. 👍
