I fish that area a lot as I live in the village near there. It’s a surprisingly productive spot. We’ve had numerous double figure fish up to 15lb including bass, pollock and cod. There are a lot of big pollock there if you concentrate on the pinnacles!
Good fishing, fished the area for 40 years, you were down the east side ,the the bell bouy use to be there. We lost our Marks when it was taken away and sat nav came in. I never it much off long rock off downderry. You missed a couple of hot plots, good takable fish in the looe river. At the right time you. Good tip, low pressure and fast water. Early flood and late ebb , never bothered to go out on an easterly. I can go on and on about bass fishing out of looe for ever. If l didn’t land fish l couldn’t pay my mortgage. Loll. Best bass catch was 280 odd years pounds none under 8 lb couldn’t get a double out of any of them. Single tide trip. Rod and line caught, Also caught a big bull Huss on that trip..now at 87 putting my feet up. One other boats l built is still working in the river.
A pleasurable view as ever, thanks. I fish inshore waters in Cornwall further SW than you on my kayak. Catch loads of big double figure pollack and bass. I whince everytime I see you using that landing net. I take a much larger net (rubber mesh to avoid hook snags) in my kayak! Please get yourself a decent sized net before you lose that big double fish of a lifetime!
I quite often regret selling my 12' sea nymph[aluminium ] for a bigger boat, I could get out over the bar on low water and back in whenever, even if it means walking it through the shallow water. Much less of a window to get out on the water with a bigger boat
Great videos young un well done... I fish a lot of the same areas your do (I work on a charter boat) I see you use the fiish minnows a lot have you tried the Westin sandy Andy lure? If not you really should Keep up the good work enjoying the videos 👍
The sandy Andy is a lure which I don't see often in the shops I use but one I really aught to pick up. If it works as well as the crazy paddle tail and lasts longer than it ticks all the boxes as they cost a fair bit less I believe
@@obanonthewater7796 contact Tony at lizard tackle mate has them all in stock.... Been our best lure on the boat all year.... Some very good bass and pollock on them.. Send you some pics if you give me some way of contacting you mate
Fella i admire your unique confidence in a small boat so far out ..good videos 👍👍👍👍

Great videos. I would like to know why you call yourself Oban on the water, when you come from Cornwall?
Because my first name is Oban!
@@obanonthewater7796 I didn't know that. Cool name. Cheers
Great video Oban, lovely Bass. Can the water sometimes be to clear for lure fishing?
I don't think so although it can certainly be too calm ie not enough movement in the water from tide or swell
Where did you get your engine cover from, I have the same engine, Tohastu 20HP 4 stroke
OCA outboard covers in Australia. Costs more than you might like but the Quality is premium and its actually made over there
What brand SIB/raft is that?
