- Join Kendall as he takes on the flight of adventure to Crissy Field. We will learn the rather unique story of this urban national park in San Francisco. From its time as a marsh land that harvest shell fish for the Ohlone people to an active airfield for the Air Corps during World War 1. We'll also learn how Crissy Field even got its name from Major. Dana Crissy, a man who helped paved the way for what would be the United States Air Force. There's also the story of how the National Park Service turned an old concrete runway into a great park for both locals and tourist. It's quite the adventure we'll be taking.
I have fond memories of my walks through Crissy Field when I lived in SF in the 80s and 90s. And my landlord (born in 1904) had memories of visiting the 1915 World's Fair as an eleven-year-old. Fantastic work as always, Kendall!
I love hearing personal connections about great places like this. Thanks for sharing.
Great to see you in my neighborhood! Welcome! Another really great and interesting video!
Thank you! I love the Bay Area.
Although I was stationed at Treasure Island back in the late 60's, I have never heard of Crissy Field. Thanks again Kendall for a very informative video. Loved seeing those old airplanes as well.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your service!
Another great video! Thanks!
My pleasure!
Great historical overview of the airfield. Visits to San Francisco always include Crissy Field. It makes for a great stop before you get over to Fort Point. Hoping a video is forthcoming about that fort.
I am working on Fort Point right now!
@@adventureswithkendall Look forward to your adventures there
WOW, SO NEAT!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
You are so welcome!
It's lovely to have discovered your channel. I live in the Richmond district of SF, just 2 blocks from The Presidio. Just last week my weekly walking group did another wonderful outing along the trail at Crissy Field - to The Bridge. How lucky we are!
That whole area is amazing! Thanks for watching.
Again, another interesting video, full of history! Thanks, Kendall!
Glad you enjoyed it!
