Hi
I know we are in different zones a bit( we are in 7b) and usually there is frost on the 30th of April or even in mid May. We are in oceanic / mountain climate. That being said, would you be planting anything like potatoes or beans in the garden in April? Ty

Thank you for the information. I have a question for you, I have a trellis in a very small backyard for my cucumbers. When I succession plant cucumbers, can I put them in the same planter with my other cucumber plants? Or is that begging for the young plants to be attacked by pests I only have a 20 ft by 12 ft backyard
Hi Millenial Gardener, I’d like to suggest something. I’m a novice gardener and I really enjoy your channel. Anyway, my yard is too small for a green house so I’ve been looking at mini green houses, which it turns out is called a cold frame. So I was thinking that if you’re into it, maybe you could figure out which type works well and do a video on it. This is just an idea in case you’re into it. Thanks for your great videos!
Doing yard work on my day off so I can eat vegetables. My younger self wouldn't understand......
If I didn’t have to work full time, it’s all I would do.
@@TheMillennialGardener Yes sir! Farmer by day, bass player by night!
Thanks for the chuckle
Right!?! Young me looks over at my excitement over last years asparagus plant poking through the soil and shakes his head 😂
My zone 7a citrus is alive and well using the water barrel/Christmas lights system. One concern is that it has shed a bunch of leaves on half the tree. Any suggestions?
Holy smokes this is a badass video… the flow is perfect for my adhd brain and it’s full of solid content, no filler! Straight fire!
It's nice to see these videos a full month ahead of my zone area. Gives me time to plan and be prepared. Thank you for your videos
Even if you're in a colder zone, I bet you can start getting the lettuce and brassicas in.
@@TheMillennialGardener lettuce yes but unfortunately cauli, broccoli and cabbage etc. bolt as a spring crop for me. We go from snow to heat waves so fast in southern Ontario I've given up on those. Lettuces for sure! Love me some salad greens!
Dale looks at his Daddy with so much love!! Blessings
He knows how good he has it 😅
Raintree is a great nursery! I live in the desert of NM & use Raintree nursery as my go to for mail order bareroot fruit tree purchases. Excellent quality!
They're very nice. We had a face-to-face chat for at least an hour.
Yes! I overwintered about a dozen cuttings from last year's sweet potato patch in my office at work. They've grown out a bit and I've been able to multiply the number of slips that will be ready to go next month, along with the slips I've stated from scratch at home. Looking forward to October already! 😂
Very nice, but please don't wish my spring away already 😂
I just started plucking off swwt potato slips how do you overwinter sweet potatoes. I'd love to try this thsnks!
@@Finchersfarmstead it's actually pretty easy, and totally worth it! Just cut about 4-6 inches off the ends of healthy sweet potato plants, snip off all but two or three leaves, and bury the stems into pots right up under the bottom leaves. Keep the soil moist and shaded if it's still pretty warm so the plants don't roast. I actually stuck 3-4 stems in some of the bigger pots, and even they've been happily chugging along in my office. Actually I've noticed the plants that are in bigger pots (like 8" deep or so) of seem to be much happier. I have a few singles in little 3-4" pots, and they haven't grown much, and have even yellowed up a little big, where the others in deep pots are as green as the day I clipped them. Those are the plants I've been able to propagate bonus slips from this winter.
I think I have probably 30 slips or so, counting the 6 I've only recently plucked from the sweet potato in my garage and have rooting in a glass of water. I'm about to put those in pots too!
I spent my Saturday working with my husband to put up the new hoops that you showed us in your video this year. I’m very happy with the way it came out, so thanks for sharing.
Outstanding! I'm happy to hear it!
We live in Tarboro, NC. A few hours from you. Been watching your videos for a couple of years. Thank you for always having interesting and informative content. Maybe one day we will cross paths.
I’m not coo coo for Cocoa Puffs so you know I’ll be out this weekend in my garden planting broccoli rabe, Napa cabbage, peas, potatoes and onions!! Oh and carrots! One thing I’ve always wanted to know, what is Dale’s favorite thing to eat from the garden?
When we first adopted Dale, he had serious issues with food. He was found wandering the streets. He used to eat literally anything. Raw figs, raw tomatoes, raw carrots, raw kale, raw peas. Now that he hasn't missed a meal in over 4 years, he won't eat raw vegetables anymore. We cook almost all his meals, so he's become picky and only wants gourmet meals. He loves every vegetable stewed in bone broth, but he turns up his nose at raw food. Out of everything we cook him, his favorite vegetable is carrots stewed in chicken bone broth, but he also loves cooked broccoli, cooked kale, cooked brussels sprouts...this week he's eating top round, butternut squash cubes, kale from the garden and white rice and he loves it.
My last year asparagus is poking out! My last year asparagus is poking out!!!😱😮😊😮🤯
Back in the day I'd never have thought I'd be this excited about that but here it is.
Thanks the themillenialgardener for making it possible 😊
Had to bring all my seedlings inside to protect them from all that rain today! I can’t wait to plant some fruit trees.
Could you plz do a little video to show exactly how you put the netting over the hoops to keep the bugs out plz
Yes please
I have a number of videos on that. This one will specifically answer your question: ruclips.net/video/XXzagZp6AoA/видео.htmlsi=o8eWqaFpJCozlZNQ
Farmer's Almanac has a great garden planting calender online that gives the dates for planting indoors, transplanting, and direct sowing for your zip code. I save it as a pdf on my phone so I can refer to it often... zone 5b here.
Thanks for all of your help. You are very encouraging and knowledgeable. Also, you are easy to understand. I'm 3 years into gardening, and you have a hand in this.
I appreciate it very much. I'm very happy to help.
Thanks for the shout out for us Floridians! It was such a learning curve for me when I moved here. I had to unlearn a lot about when to plant certain things. Love your channel!
Same here. Any site that isn’t Florida-specific and just uses frost dates almost always recommends planting things at the wrong times for us down here
@@HappilyAfterEver yup, 9b S texas is very different than other 9b areas.
re-watched 3 times, brought to the household garden planning meeting. huge thank you from us to you. we have limited space and capabilities.
Hey from central Florida can’t wait until you start your move here to learn a lot dealing with fl sand
Bought 9 fruit trees this year. My first fruit trees EVER. I bought 6 locally from a small nursery and 3 online. The nursery ones gradually got planted over the past 2 weeks but I was sick when the last 3 arrived so i had my son soak the bare roots for a couple hours then just temporarily 'plant' them in my giant 2yd dirt pile.
That has worked really great this year for a temporary 'up pot' until i could get plants in their designated area. Some i just felt were too small to handle being in their permanent home.
Another awesome video!! Thank you so much!!
I have heard you talking about when your tomatoes and other plants start doing bad mid summer you start a new batch. I hope you make a video for when to start new plants for the second round 😃
In central Florida here. Always enjoy your advice!!
I have come to really depend on these monthly videos this growing season. This is my first time starting my own seeds. I have previously dabbled with transplants from big box stores. Your channel and monthly crops to grow videos have helped me so much! Also ❤❤ for Dale!!!
Great information! Thank you! Dale is a hoot!
I’ve definitely decided I’m a Dale fan❤️🥰 Pets and veggies seem to go hand and hand… trying my sweet potato’s in pots this year in ground I haven’t had much luck😊
Mentioning the South Florida tip was very helpful, thank you!!!
Question: How do pollinators find the tomatoes? Thank you and keep up the excellent work!
Thank you for these videos. I live right outside of Wilmington, and I am trying to be a very productive gardener this year. I'm hoping to follow along and plant when you say plant.
I can’t wait for the peach tree video! I got my first fruit tree today, a contender peach. I don’t have a yard so it’s going on my balcony in a container 🤣
Your Fig Trees are way ahead of mine...and I am in Arkansas. 7b Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and grapes...all planted. Got my Sweet Potato slips growing. CHECK!
I'm in 8b, so I'm probably 3-4 weeks ahead of you. Once the buds break, it all happens very quickly.
We are big fans and we are in Central Florida but from Georgia and you are our favorite gardener.
Incredible video
Thank you!
Thank you MG! Always helpful 😊👍👍
You're welcome! I appreciate you watching!
So thorough
I am so thankful for all the information you always give us, it really helps to know what and when to plant. I appreciate all your hard work. You are such an inspiration. And thanks for sharing Dale with us, such a happy boy ❤😁🙏
I'm still waiting for the plants I'd be crazy not to plant in March to sprout!
Kholrabi popped up yesterday, still waiting on beets and peas.
New subscriber… :-) I also am in North Carolina a little closer to Raleigh. I was so glad to come across your channel and made it so much easier for me to know what to do and what not to do. I look forward to exploring the rest of your channel loved it so much. Thank you again for sharing.❤
I love watching your videos. I learn so much. Tfs
You’re welcome! I’m glad the videos are helpful!
Wow! Live this video- thank you for the monthly planting suggestions! This is so needed every month of every year!!
You're welcome! I've been providing a video like this each month for the last year since it's been helpful to people.
Well I've been working today on putting up my t-post and rebar so I can put up the shade cloth and hoops. Yeah I watched another video and on Saturday I had to go buy a bunch of supplies which means I spent more money. It's going to be real nice though. I will finish it up tomorrow.
I'm taking your advice from a previous video and getting some cooler weather tomatoes out very early (for our climate up in the hills of Washington State). I haven't even gotten the rest of my tomatoes started yet, but I'm very excited to experiment with these and see how they do! (Siberia and Oregon Spring)
Another great video. I often take notes from your videos to keep as a quick reference. Your channel is very educational. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I’m glad the videos are providing value.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome!
Love your videos, always full of good info.Rain tree has been a good nursery for me as well.. all my bare roots I have gotten from them have done well..
Thank you! They're really nice people over there. I talked with them for over an hour.
What a wealth of information. Thank you again. I really enjoy your videos.love your adventures with Dale. He 8s a cutey. ❤❤❤
You’re welcome! He is a very handsome boy 🐶
Another amazing video 👍👍
Thank you!
very good, and timely, video... I can use a lot of these tips!!!
Thanks! I make one of these every month.
Thank you
The plant recommendations are very inspiring, they make me want to garden too
I can’t recommend it enough! It is a life changing thing.
ILM friend here. Thanks for your videos. Starting my first real gardens at my house off Market St near Ogden. Put in Blueberries today for upcoming years. Ill be deep in your videos. Thanks
I wish I could get into my garden to cold and wet in Michigan. I started a bunch of plants in the house but for some reason I lost a lot of plants. So I replanted fingers crossed they will all live. Thanks for the tips great video
Man do I wish I still lived in ILM. Found your channel today and have watched multiple videos because I'm doing my first garden right now with raised beds and growing figs.
Im part of the small portion in central Florida so i appreciate that added tid bit as i did not even consider that but yes you are absolutely right it doesn't rain much here in that time span baring any crazy storm. I planted a loquat a month or so ago, and i have been having to water it a good bit
I learned that a few years ago from Florida growers. The "dry season" is warm and sunny, and it's actually brutal on trees since days frequently get in the 70-80 degree range, so it's pretty stressful. It's actually easier to transplant them in summer. It may be a lot hotter, but the afternoon clouds and rainfall actually lead to less stress. I bought land in Central Florida last year for 'early retirement' one day (if I'm lucky), so I've been researching Florida growing for awhile.
Man, your videos are so good! Comprehensive, interesting, practical and always something more to learn, even for an experienced gardener 👩🌾😊
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Great video thank you!!!
You're welcome!
We just harvested a bunch of snap peas yesterday in 9b Clearwater Florida!
Nice! They’re one of my favorites!
Dale is one heck of a gardener!🇺🇸👍
Just last night he chased a rabbit out of the yard...at 11PM 😬 That nose of his...he is obsessed.
Still love the show, i live in Southport nc near you.. keep up the good work
Im not crazy im just obsessed lol. Zone 5 b here im starting tomatoes and peppers this week. Future idea. When you do the videos on what veg is frost hardy can you mention what garden flower is also is frost tolerant? ❤❤Dale❤❤
Love your videos.
Thank you!
I came across your channel this year and i love love your videos.
I hope to own a big garden someday, but for the mean time, I'll utilize the space i have to showcase agriculture on My Channel.
Thank you! I appreciate it! You don't need a lot of space to grow a lot of food. A little bit of planning goes a long way. This video may give you some ideas: ruclips.net/video/gi1qiTECKHo/видео.htmlsi=vtTUWR6b1-NLIHVW
Snowing outside here in Cedar Rapids! ☺️
Started my fruit trees last month in Texas n tree cuttings plus some bare root strawberries, blueberry plugs n blackberries.
Nice!
COASTAL SC, 8b here. I've said it before, I love your channel, and my garden has been more productive over the years since I started with you just a few years ago. I started many vegetables in seed trays. Plus, I direct planted basil, squashes, cucumbers, and sunflowers under milk/water jug greenhouse. My red and yokon gold potatoes are getting ready to flower. I started sweet potato slips a couple of weeks ago and amended the grow spot. Thank you so much.
I'm glad to hear you're having success! It's tough to grow food down here, especially if you didn't grow up here. But once you figure it out, it's great. Shade cloth has been my #1 success story.
Kudos to you.
Ugh, there is potential for frost/freeze this Thursday and Friday. Saturday is iffy, and needs to be monitored. So transplants, flowers, mushroom spore, and warm weather crop seeding is on hold for a few days. I gave up on my Bing cherry tree. I dug it up, and sure enough there was no new root growth. I replaced it with a Dwarf North Star cherry tree. My sister-in-law gifted me with a lemon, or lime tree. She doesn't know which it is. I'll have to wait until it sets fruit. So now my orchard is two apple trees, two plum trees, two pear trees, three cherry trees, and a lemon or lime tree. I have seed sprouts for peppermint, chicory, yarrow, oregano, catnip, chives, and parsley. I have transplants ready to go in the ground for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, zucchini, crookneck squash, Lemon squash, and basil. Already planted and thriving are Malaga radish, German Giant radish, golden beetroot, Oregon Giant snow peas, Arrow Peas, assorted lettuces, potatoes, kohlrabi, Elephant Garlic, grocery store mystery garlic, White Creole Onions, Red Bead bunching onions, Japanese Giant Red Mustard, Southern Curly Mustard, Fordhook Spinach, and Seascape strawberries. As soon as the danger of frost passes, I'll sow seeds for Red Noodle beans, marjoram, dill cilantro, marigolds, zinnias, straw flower, bachelor button, cosmos, and spore for Wine Cap mushrooms. If I have room, I may plant something else, but I don't know what. I think I have all fourteen raised beds, 18 growbags, 3 GreenStalk towers, and a few assorted pots accounted for, but if there is room... I have Seascape Strawberry plants fruiting and flowering, but it will be about two weeks before I get my first ripe strawberry. My last will be in late November. Alabama zone 7B
Yeah boy. My russet potatoes were planted at the end of March. I'm in 7b (or old zone..not sure about new zones). Its been warm enough and I only had to cover them with a frost blanket for two nights. They were fine. Growing beautiful now. I have carrots sprouting and onions all looking good. Out my indoor tomato starts in the ground this week.
Got LOTS of sweet potato slips growing at different stages. About 25 clippings already with nice roots and about twice that many more that I clipped this week and have in water rooting right now. Gonna be a busy year for me but we all need to learn to be self sustainable.
Thank you. I'd like to grow purple potatoes. I hope you have a video on that. My sweet potatoes havecsprouted following your directions!!!
See here from 2 weeks ago: ruclips.net/video/p13FS2LXmC8/видео.htmlsi=gQQ_DmxYW8k2h0iB
One of my favorite nurseries is Raintree.
They’re great! I got to meet them face to face. Very nice people.
When are you doing an update on the espalier figs? I attempted to start mine this year but I think I neglected them for to long. Started fertilizing them again this spring and they’re doing great but still look a little tired. I’ll probably cut them to the ground this winter and totally restart next spring
Me up here in zone 6b in southern Ontario, "I'll see you in a month+!" Sadge :(. Right now, it's beginning to sow cold weather crops and trim back perennial fruit and flower bushes. The basement's going strong with seedlings though. However, still always get a bit envious this time of year watching your videos ... but the garden looks great and the videos are as always fantastic.
Oh! You are so lucky to live in a 6b zone! I live in a 3b zone up here in Québec! 🤣
Hi, I really want to implement the lower and lean system for trellising tomatoes, and I'm debating the materials to use for the trellis. I have seen them constructed with wood, with cross bars that the tomato hooks hang from. If you are using a metal bar or cable similar to what you have in the video, and the hooks are suspended on rings or loops, does the wind blow the rings/loops out of place? Does that happen and if so, is it a problem? Thank you so much for sharing your advice and experience!
Hello, I recently found your channel and subscribed. I have watched many of your videos. Good info!! What do you use for like when storms are coming with hail? I was thinking maybe the shade cloth might work for that to stop damage from a hail storm. I recently purchased some hail netting for my hoop garden. I also purchased that 40% shade for the hot summer here in Louisiana. Do you need both, or will the shade screen work?
Thanks!!
Raintree is very helpful if you have questions also. They were very nice.
I'm hoping our grape has survived the deer and transplant to deer proof location. Nothing showing yet.
Great video, thank you
My vegetable starts just stopped growing? Any reasons why. There like inch or 2 just got second leaves and nothing 😕
What tips do you have for controlling/preventing wasps? Whether it is in garden or around house, etc. I don't like dealing with red wasp and yellow jackets.
Thank you for the information. I've been trying to start my sunflowers this year through direct sow, but my group of little sparrows that lives at my house keeps munching them before they get very big :[ Thankfully I have a lot of sunflower seeds to spare.
After you sow the seeds, place a piece of agricultural fabric over them and place bricks or rocks on the edges. The agricultural fabric will allow water and sunlight in, but it'll protect them from birds. You can also lay insect netting down on the ground. I have all of this stuff in my Amazon Storefront in the video description. You can get 20-30ft pieces of it in the $10-15 range.
From lower PA, Lancaster Co. Prime Ark still dead asleep, blueberries just starting to leaf out, strawberries - nope!... My daffodils are up!!! Oh honeyberries are flowering too!
It's ironic I love watching you all in tee-shirts this early while I am still in winter hats and heavy gloves. However, I am out working soils and planting cold flowers, herbs and onions. Then suddenly the switch will go off 40 to 80 over night. Enjoying cooler & taking advantage damper weather before heat heads north.
T-shirts today, sweatshirts tomorrow. I still can't plant my tomatoes, because now the forecast changed and shows upper 30's/low 40's for 4 days straight coming up 😠 It goes from 39 degrees to 89 degrees here.
April is the month that there are more garden projects than my back can handle! I also am in zone 8b (PNW), but your garden is way ahead of ours. I have a question i have never seen addressed: if i have a water soluble 20 20 20 fertilizer, can i dilute the concentration by 75% to get a 5 5 5 fertilizer for my transplant seedlings? For example, if the directions call for 1 Tbs. per gal of water for 20 20 20, then only use 1/2 tsp. per gal to get a 5 5 5.
Peredovik sunflower are a great at attracting of insects. You plant them off from your garden.
April planting of fruit trees in Texas is iffy. We often hit the triple digits in May, and newly planted trees will struggle hard. Most local nurseries have stopped getting new stock of trees at this point and will start discounting soon. Texans swear by fall planting trees, but I find as long as I get mine in before the end of February they usually do well as long as I mulch and water well once the heat hits.
😂 9b Houston was 53 degrees this morning. I took my dog to get his vaccines the SAME WEEK LAST YEAR and it was so hot we had the dogs waiting in the cars with the A/C on. It's been a VERY strange spring here thus far.
Another great video, MG!👍
My Meyer lemon is full of blooms. It's in a pot. Do I need to keep the soil at a low acid number to get a good fruit set?
Howdy to handsome Dale. 🐕 He really loves his dad!😃
Thanks! I’ve never done anything to soil pH for my citrus. Roughly neutral will be fine. You will want to make sure it is well-fed. Containers have limited nutrients, so feeding it to support the blooms is important. Just don’t overdo it with liquid fertilizers. Too much water soluble fertilizer can cause flower drop.
@TheMillennialGardener Thank you. I'm following your feeding advice for fruiting plants. I'm using the Bloom Booster and fish fertilizer now. I did the wake-up feeding of organic pellet fertilizer, compost, and the high nitrogen liquid feed. Now, I'm changing to the high phosphorus feeding.
@@valoriegriego5212 oh good. Just be sure to not use too much. It’s powerful stuff.
@TheMillennialGardener Okay...will do.😃
I'd love a video on growing fig trees. I grew up with one just outside my window, so I know they can grow in Texas, but I've never successfully grown one that fruited.
I have dozens of videos on fig trees if you search my channel. My original content was mostly figs: www.youtube.com/@TheMillennialGardener/search?query=figs
Hi there - i like the white hoops you used to put the cover protection on your trees - i can’t see them on your links, can you please send a link here? Thanks
I bought some okinawa sweet potatoes from our Asian market as you suggested. They are starting to get soft and look like they are spoiling on the ends rather than sprouting. There are eyes that may sprout in the middle of the potato eventually. I did toss one bc it was clearly rotting. What do you suggest in regards to the rot, should i just try to plant them?
Alright alright! I've done a lot of this already! 🎉 I have a question though. Why can't I make peas grow? I start my own tomatoes and peppers. I can't understand why I can't grow peas.
We're having a snow / ice storm here in Massachusetts today. 😫
Set yourself up hoop houses like I do. It may snow, but it's not very cold and won't last. The severe freezes are long gone and any cold spells are very brief.
Hi, friend. I have some 7 gallon grow bags. In zone 8a, near Macon, GA, what could I grow in them? Thanks for your great advice! My challenge is arthritis and limited income in retirement. Through experiments I have developed a few things I could possibly share with you that may be helpful. And thanks for the advice on those grow bags.
I use grow bags for tomatoes, peppers , cukes, cantaloupe, snap peas. I have RA, and appreciate that I can just move a stool along the row of them to maintain instead of having to stoop down so much. Tomato cages in the bags work great for the cukes and small melons.
My Okinawan potatoes are not sprouting. I keep trying over and over again so maybe this time it will work. Maybe the potatoes were sprayed with a growth inhibitor the way white potatoes are treated?
Is being really hard to get started why you kept vines growing from last year? Are they just that hard or slow to sprout?
I planted pea seeds 2 weeks ago in WV 1.5-2" down. Then we had a week of wet 50 degree days. I have no signs of germination. Should I wait longer or try again?
I would like to know the nurseries where you purchased your cara cara trees
I bought some of your grow bags they were a good price
I appreciate it! Thanks!
Funny. I live in Seattle which is also Zone 8b. But April rarely gets above 60° F. While Wilmington, NC regularly gets into the 80's in April.
Last week I planted three peach trees and one apricot tree.
Raintree Nursery is great. I've purchases many plants from them.
I live in washington soap lake 6b now 7a, April we get a few days over 70s and may is when it's consistently in the 60's with temps over 79's sprinkled through the week😅 very interesting how different the climate is just hours away. I used to live in everett and Arlington so I know the area very well. Was a change moving a few hours away!
Yeah I was thinking the same. Too early for potatoes, corn, beans etc.
All that really matters is the overnight temps. Things will grow more slowly your way since the sun is weaker and temps cooler, but they'll still grow as long as the nighttime temps are mild enough. For warm crops like tomatoes and peppers, placing milk jugs (without caps) over the young transplants works well.
@@TheMillennialGardener thanks )
@@TheKlopovClan 82 yesterday and possible snow and 33 tonight lol
We have to hold off on a few things here lol. A few years ago we planted cabbage and it was big ,and then it dipped to 11 😔. Not much survived.
I want to start planting sweet potatoes but I do not have a place where they will be protected from frost. Is it a wise move to start putting the lips into the soil?
I planted 2 grapes this year, I got one planted and as I was digging the hole for the second one, my German Shepard/Border Collie puppy was digging up the first one. edit: it also appears that even though I'm kind of a desert, my growing season is relatively short compared to yours, I'm about a month behind you with a last frost date of May 5th.
D'oh! I learned a few years ago with Dale that the best thing to do was to have him by my side when I was planting things and putting down fertilizer. That way, he was familiar with the scent and knew what was going on and that the fertilizer isn't food. He doesn't dig anymore since he's used to the smell. He'll still sniff around, but he's learned that that odor isn't food.
The high desert is tough because it doesn't hold heat at night. It evaporates in the thin air, so the growing season is pretty short. Lower elevations have thicker atmosphere. The thicker the atmosphere, the less heat escapes.
Sooooo… I live in the Myrtle Beach area not to far from you!
You mentioned that we can plant out string bean seeds closest to our last frost date…
My average LFD was March 31st…. But next week we are expecting cool weather again in the 30’s & 40’s…
SO MY QUESTION IS, is it still okay to start my bean seeds… or should I continue to wait??!!
Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in… gardening is work enough, and you make great content to go along with it!
Yeah, same here. Friday and Saturday night say 40, so that means my yard will be 37 degrees and I'll probably wake up to frost on the north-facing rooftops 🙄 You can still plant string beans today, because they won't break ground until late next week. Even if it frosts, they'll be safe underground, so it'll be fine. If, for some reason, we get a frost in 3 weeks (which is virtually unheard of) after they germinate, just throw a blanket over them. The chances of there being a cold event after this is really low, but then again, this cold event shouldn't be happening, either...
I certainly appreciate your reply! Happy Gardening!
Is that a lemon tree behind you? I am in SC and have not had success. Do you have a video on how you care for your tree?
Can you do video how to plant sweet potatoes in a grow bag (if you can). Thanks.
I have one here: ruclips.net/video/0igp5IzO21g/видео.htmlsi=L7TO0LsBYL6U7N2d
Just stick the slips in your grow bags instead of the ground. It's the same procedure. Use 20 gallon grow bags, minimum size. Put 5-6 slips in a 20 gallon bag.
I will be using grow bags for my tomatoes. What soil do you use for them? Also can blueberries be grown in grow bags?
I've been using grow bags for tomatoes for years and love them. Regular potting soil with some added bone meal. The only issue is that they require very frequent watering.
What is the black tarp-like product you are putting your raised beds on? Please let me know. My land is not good and I need what you are using.
It is called weed barrier. I have a video all about it here: ruclips.net/video/FasBDbVi3Hw/видео.htmlsi=A9lBF-Bnbo5ECJio
Zone 7b and I keep getting recommended to wait until around may 12 to move the cucumbers, tomatoes, etc out into the garden. Is this normal? It is getting to 30 Fahrenheit Saturday.
