what if i told you that its been almost FOUR YEARS since the first caves & cliffs snapshot?

Its been 13 years since I remember them adding beds in beta 1.3.
What if I told you it's been EIGHT YEARS since they made any noticable changes to the End Dimension (when they made maps work there and added return portals) which was a dimension added THIRTEEN YEARS ago?

lol we do caves are so unbalanced and ruin game loop. No quirky gen which makes mc less fun and more ores=faster progression = less fun
1.22 - Hot update (updates desert, savannah, mesa. Adds Volcanoes, hot springs)
1.23 - Cold Update (updates Forests in general, snowy stuff. Adds Maple forests and other colder biomes)

I want a biome similar to dripstone caves with higher aquifer counts but with massive calcite crystals instead of dripstone and higher geode spawn rates maybe with basalt scattered about

there was once a teaser for 1.21 to be called the Horizons Update, I think mojang should use that for a 1.22 warm biomes update

Ik many people are saying we already got a cave update, but tbh exploring caves is one of my fav things to do in minecraft especially since that update (the generation is so beautiful plz) that I would absolutely adore anything added to caves. More crystals? Yes. More underground biomes? Absolutely. But I’m just a casual player, so honestly anything they add I’m happy with! I’m still exploring all the new content from previous updates.
You think that caves and cliffs is the only update for caves, there will be more in the future.

Agreed, one of the biggest missed opportunities in Minecraft history.
They like to avoid fun sometimes, usually it is some complex of theirs like rules they set themsleves "mobs that lost will NEVER be added"

Mojang could do a (underground biomes):Crystal cave, Ice cave, Luminous cave, Spore cave.
For structures in the sky, it should be an Illager airship almost similar to the End Ships in the End. Another structure they could add in the sky is a Cathedral but around the area of the Cathedral are thunderstorms every time. This is so that it is harder to spot and less obvious. The Cathedral will be the structure for Ghouls and maybe a home for the Phantoms
Speaking of the sky, there should be more weathers like hail when there is an Ice Spike biome or natural disasters like tornados.
Maybe more structures, that can be in the Sky Update, could be crash landed vehicles.
That sounds really neat and I would like to see it

I think we need the hot update. They already have the ideas for Savanah desert and badlands. Just give me baobab
How I would imagine new cave biomes to be like:
Hotsprings/geyser biome: a biome with geysers that shopt the player upwards, hot water pools that steam and form a fog around the biome.
Magma biome: a volcanic biome that generates near large lava pools. Consists of lava spouts and sulfur deposits.
Crystal caves biome: the natural home of Allays. Grows many types of natural crystals with higher chances of generating amethyst geodes.
Would be neat if the rascal was like some sort of guide for the caves. Like maybe to the unusual biomes? Or even particular biomes, like the deep dark. A friendly creature that either guides u or helps u reach food or wood if ur almost empty.
Structure Redux and End Update are the 2 highest hinted update.
Given all the types of biomes we have we need more villages.
I like the idea of underground biomes being dark versions of above ground biomes. Like mushroom caves under mushroom islands, just with new poisonous mushrooms. They could be the “reason” for the lack of hostile mobs. Or sand-filled caves under the desert, because the sand from above has filled a lot of them in. You would have a legitimate reason for the archaeology stuff. Maybe have large magma/lava biomes under mountains/volcanoes, so you aren’t required to go to the Nether for massive amounts of lava.
There’s plenty of ideas to be had.

would be cool a frozen dripstone cave like a dripstone cave but is made of ice and you can find it in mountains
the problem is that i don't know what block/mob/item would add to that biome

I'd like special biomes, twice as rare as a stronghold.
A full crystal cave for example

I'd like to see a pyramid return, made out of a block that cannot be broken, forcing you to partake in trials that are not combat but puzzle and platform.
I think the next update for Minecraft will be the biome update where they update the biome. They said they would update and add new stuff on top of that or end date or an update would be cool. I would love that. Whatever you decide to do. I’m excited either way.

My fantasy is that the portal in the ancient cities take you to a different time. From a game programming perspective it would be a different dimension, but in-game it would be like the overworld before...something? Before the piglins started leaving their stinky portals all over the place?
We need a End update!
People forget that mining was supposed to be the original selling point of this game. Last update was literally a cave update with half of it being in a cave dungeon.
I would not be surprised if they continue adding cave content.

I wonder if the removal of Drowned in Dripstone Caves had something to do with Mob Griefing considering only the Trident has the ability of snapping Dripstone from the ceiling. Either way I feel like players would be decently accepting of such a unique hazard.
I wouldn't be surprised if the trail ruins and the trial chambers themselves were originally planned for the Caves & Cliffs update.
I feel they should just add either add all the mob vote mobs or make a vote with all the past ones and keep doing that till they’re all added.

I think it's unlikely that the next update will be related to caves, but I would like, for example, caves full of slime blocks, magma caves, caves with flowers or giant ferns, caves with pockets of mud and mud volcanoes, the possibilities are incredible, In my opinion, the update of the caves and cliffs should have been like, for example, 1.17 increases the height and modifies the mountains and 1.18 throws everything in the cave, instead of leaving both half in one version and in the other when released it is just something raw, that has already come.
I would love to see an update where Mojang decides to go back and remaster a bunch of old features, to make them feel fresh with modern minecraft again.

i kinda feel like 1.22 will do something with the nether, the nether updates intentions from what I got were to make the nether as fleshed out as the overworld, and the devs talked about expanding the nether in the future. maybe a nether cave update paired with increased height and 3d biome generation could put it on par with the overworld?
The next update should be the "Sculk&Nether" Update, imagine making Minecraft progression more harder, like making the eye of ender that shows the end being crafted using the hovering inferno and sculk ender pearl that you get from the sculk dimension. With this update they should add everu single lost mobvote mob

1.21 - Trick Trials Update - Caves and Cliffs Part 5 (Expanded Copper and Tuff block palettes)
1.22 - ??? - Caves and Cliffs Part 6??? (Bundle?, added Caves updates?)
I think that this just shows you just how much content was spoiled at Minecraft Live 2020.
To be fair the things they added ended up being much better than promised. Warden without the ancient cities would've been much less interesting. New copper and tuff blocks in 1.21 are an expansion rather than something they initially planned

I'd be really happy with every feature you brought up coming through next update, but at the same time- I'm so tired of caves... I want the surface to be revamped so bad, something big up there
make the world depth go to -100! (so you can add bigger structures or to make trials/ancient cities more hidden)
1.21 added bogged to the swamp biome
combat revolution. think about the last time they updated combat. and while yes, they added another trident-like novelty weapon, it's not like people are going to regularly use it, and people can't even get it until mid-late game.
i am talking about overhauling the crit system, swords, and axes. maybe add combat maneuvers like dodge rolling and combo attacks, dual wielding, and maybe new early game weapons like a polearms and javelins.
enchants they need to add to the game with the combat update:
poison aspect
wither aspect
(all aspects would be mutually exclusive)
poison protection
wither protection
bane of end (end dragon, endermites, endermen, and shulkers)
bane of nether (piglins, hoglins, blazes, ghasts)
really the combat update would be a great opportunity to overhaul the enchantment system, and also librarians (but not the way they presented in the experimental features). personally, i think villager trading should be a tech tree where you choose 2 of any unlocked options instead of RNG sadness. the RNG of the enchanting table should also be removed. it was a dumb feature and i never was able to understand notch's heavy reliance on RNG in everything
This update better be groundbreaking as its Minecraft's 15th birthday, like something that genuinely changes the gameplay like they used to before

Idea for a new cave biome: The Crystal Caves! Kind of like the dripstone caves but everything is giant shafts of huge crystals. Such caves do exist and I think they have been explored extensively too. Problem I can see with my idea is what to make the crystals out of? Quartz is the first idea but then that removes the need to go to the Nether for quartz so maybe some other form of crystal that could be used for some other purpose OR just make them so rare that you're more likely to trip over the deep dark a few times before finding even one crystal cave.

Well they can add more crystals like amethyst but not as geode, just a ravine with crystal blocks and clusters. It would be nice. Amethyst geodes would always generate in this biome ideally.
I think they are just gonna update the warm biomes over multiple updates. Like camels and armadilloes.
If it is a new cave update I wouldn’t mind if they only added cave ambience and echoing sounds it would make cave mining so much better
Tbh I could see a world where oxidized copper gullems are found around the triled chambers, with tuff glems positioned around, almost like wheeping angels, but they don't attack you
Honestly I’d love if they added a new underground biome or 2. A rare underground mushroom forest that tends to spawn under Dark Oak forests maybe? Could either go with the pre-existing mushrooms or add a new glowing (Overworld) mushroom. Edible as a soup and gives you night vision but also hunger perhaps?
Hot take/prediction: next update will probably be another overworld one but it will balance/fix enchanting and add data driven potions & more to prepare for an end update after it
I think the caves are cool, but i missed some features, such as Ice Caves, Mushroom Caves and Desert-Caves as well as marble stone

I hope they update strongholds and mineshafts, it would be cool if you could ride mineshafts and they had powered rails and carts you can hop on and ride with a bit of risk you get sent underwater and drown or fall off the rails into lava

I honestly don't care if we get a cave update part 6, I'll probably just stick with my modpack. But I really want to see if Mojang sticks to their word about the backlog mobs not being lost to the void.

Since the tricky trials update was more combat focused, I feel like the next update will do a 180 and be more of a causal chill update. A farming update would be PERFECT for this.

I know there have been some people complain about the Minecraft updates, but I have realized over the years that mojang has its waves of up and down, and me are unfortunately in the down wave, but I think in about 1-6 years Minecraft might get its redemption. A kid can hope, right?

my hope for 1.22 would be a Beastly Update that adds more hostile mobs (and some friendly ones) and fleshes out existing mobs that have only one purpose
I just want a few end biomes, maybe a new type of gray or purple wood but honestly I kinda get it if they don’t do that because at least on bedrock only around 5% of players have beaten the dragon, so it would only be a good update for 5% of players and wouldn’t get more people to buy the game, so might not be worth putting time and resources into
What if Mojang has decided they have enough [overworld] biomes for now and so they're focusing on adding epic content to what they already have?
I think 1.22 will be a red stone update. They said at Minecraft live 1.21 was about “combat and tinkering” we got a few things of redstone stuff (copper bulbs and crafter) but 1.21 was mostly focused on combat. That’s why I think 1.22 will be redstone update
Copper bulbs and crafters are a big deal already. Last time they added something that was as important was observers in 1.11
I hope it’s gonna be a farm update bruh like all farms are good for is just food and most of the food isn’t even that good enough to be useful for anything in any situation other than early game food, like bruh I barley have storage for anything, but bowls are cool and I feel like I should be able to stack them.
If they update caves again before they update the regular overworked biome or the end. I will loose my marbles lol.

Did you know in the trial chambers at the trials if you put a barrier around it floating water that flows the one side a trap door so they fall through the hole The whole must be two cubes deep if you got husk just allow the water to flow right into the hole which will drag down the husks and turn them into zombies after a bit then you can kill the zombie and get the armour and weapon there holy I’ve been doing that since I was testing my theories on the trial
I also forgot the one with the trap door for skeletons turns them into the frozen ones and you’re able to get the armour and weapons off them plus slowness arrows
