Never knew about Arbor Low. Fascinating. Terrible they did all that for just a picnic. And a lovely description of your family traits by the way. The body never forgets.
Great walk gareth. I do the alton walk you did with 2 of my daughters every other year day and night time and alternating years were on the isle of wight and do the old railway walks. Always hoping to bump.in2 your dad. Hes a top man
Hayup Gareth very good that looks stunning I miss the feeling of authenticity you get from pitting yourself against the elements an the wide open spaces almost desolate feeling. of the dales. I once went out that way with my dad to buy an old scramble bike loads of off the beaten track paths then numerous gates an field drives down to a house, it was only when leaving that right in front of the house was a blooming great mountain that's imposing house was situated opposite an about half way up. near enough to feel like you could touch it, it was nearish or just outside dovedale past Iam or ilam. Arbor low has a look of old Sarum about it. On the road from Wilton to Warminster there starts on your right some to me unusual looking hills they meander like a serpent all of a certain height an look very sort of rounded an smooth with small stabaliseing terraceing, that'd be a big job with a spade back in the day? they culminate at the sight of a hill fort an three kinda triangular shaped hills! Can't think what they are?! I did venture up that way but it's the tank division an I was kinda outnumbered me an my Peugeot 205 against that lot. a chap did film the hill fort from above and a field or two, there's a lot of similar ridged or slight terraced hills around these parts, not sure you'd get a walk out of it, maybe it borders Salisbury plain. That jack hargreaves walk on the old kings road would be great to see updated, he did it in a carriage probably one for the summer as it's on a windy ridge. On a completely different note, as your a singer songwriter I come a across from time to time folks I feel are talented an I try to get em more attention an so on the tube, Ariela, song is, I like to get to thinking her own tune as is one called Ivory she does lots of covers aswell I think she's a bit good, thought it may be a break from it all. Good continuance with your daughter an the stones. Great stuff an cheers
I rode up there on my mountain bike last year, impressive place and a nice ride up through Matlock on the high peak trail. It's a bit steep in places though... I knew I'd had enough by the time I got home. 🤪
That's a lovely walk that one. I was booked in for groin surgery a few days back and didn't know how long I'd be out after, so did the high peak from black rocks to parsley and back. Managed 23 miles and the groin went. SOS call to my brother.
@@IckeWalks Sorry to hear about your injury, good job we have brothers to take care of us 🙂Hopefully, the surgery clears that up for you and you can get back to walking in good time. Do you post your walks on Strava or Komoot or something? I'd be interested to see some of your routes as you walk a lot of places that are in my area. By the way, it makes a nice change to see someone actually doing these walks rather than just driving to places in a car and pretending they did the work. 🤣
Great job. That did look cold! Did you figure out the smell? Have you ever seen The Land of Chem on RUclips? Mostly Egypt videos but over the past 3 months he has made videos from some time in England visiting some of those mounds and stone circle sites. Thought you might be interested.
Awesome walk Gareth fantastic as always
