Excellent! I'm getting ready to "tie" a quilt (a four block large Lone Star - the stars are crumb & string pieced, hence many thick seams). The only sensible way to quilt it is tying. Many thanks (I'll be using #8 Perle Cotton). ❤
Recently, I was given a 9 patch quilt top that my grandmother had hand pieced together. Thank you for this video, now I know how to finish it in the way that she would have.
Years ago we tied quilts on a quilting frame. Tying quilts was a method that was used as much as hand quilting, which is what we did, as there wasn't the fancy quilting machines. LOL It was an experienced quilter that could get the required number of stitches on a needle, to hand quilt, so I chose to tie!
Thanks for sharing about the bent basting pins (instead of straight safety pins). Even though I do know a square knot, I feel you should have shown how to do that for those who have never been in Girl Scouts nor Boy Scouts. For those reading: a square knot is= right over left and then left over right. I hope that helps someone. Your low voice made it more difficult to hear also. Thanks for sharing the thread loop method for threading the yarn.
Thank you for this video. Very good information, and instructions. Id love to have that much material. I like your sewing room. I like to quilt, knit and crochet.

Thank you - a very useful and clear tutorial - just about to try and tie a quilt that I have had lying about for a few years... :o)
Thanks for the tutorial! Time to go start tying my quilt then. Wish me luck!
Very complete explanation but still simple-thanks!

Very, very good.
Just curious. Does the yarn unravel with time ??
I saw another video where he put fray check on knot of yarn to prevent fraying…
This shares so much helpful info! I just wish it was focused abit better
how far apart to you place your ties?????
Love your channel!
Have you ever done a double tied quilt. Knots on both sides?
