Oathbringer is my favorite Stormlight Archive book it made Dalinar my favorite character and I'm still in shock from the fact that this was the ending of the THIRD book in a ten book series, it was jaw dropping ending and I loved it and I hope you will too and I also can't wait for your thought on rhythm of war as its the most divisive stormlight archive book I personally love it and its my second favorite but a lot of people thinks its the worst and I can see why but I like the character building and in that book way too much.
I will for sure get through he whole Cosmere this year. Has been a great journey.

John, I am so glad you're going to watch Princess Mononoke. Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli in general are so special to me. Spirited Away is an amazing movie too. Something to pay attention to is the soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi, who Miyazaki has been working with since the 1980's. A great composer paired with a great director and storyteller.
I am looking forward to it. Jakob has said he will watch it with me so should be a fun night.

Hopefully as i continue my Stormlight re-read Oathbringer will click with me, i tried to read it a few years ago straight after finishing Second Apocalypse and just as I was feeling the itch to get back to Malazan after a 6 month break. Poor timing on my part.
Since i haven't finished these yet they'll be carrying over but there's still a few days left.

@@Talking_Story I'd recommend Lions of Al-Rassan over Tigana. Tigana is good and popular for a reason but Lions, man, its something special. That's the book that made me a fan.

Studio Ghibli movies are pretty solid in general. I just got around to watching them the later part of last year. I'd probably need to watch them again to really claim a favorite though.
And having Too Packed of a schedule isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's when it gets Too Biggie that you start having problems.
I'd love to be part of a read along, but that would mean moving stuff around on my TBR and I really need to buckle down and try to read things in order. I just have too much and still find reasons to shoehorn things in! Can't wait for the book club discussion!

Also with your recommendation I'm going to try out The Belgariad series book #1 with my son, he may be just a bit to young, but he does love a good story. Princess monoke is great! Probably my favorite of the ghibli movies. Also loved Oathbringer. Personally I can't decide if I like Words of Radiance or Oathbringer more. Sounds like you have solid reading month in front of you!

@@Talking_Story Yeah, you're in for a treat. Although I didn't expect it to get quite this much love. Words of Radiance seems to be the most beloved of the stormlight books (for good reason) but still, Oathbringer for me hit just as hard as WoR.

It’s crazy how 1200 pages of Sanderson feels like 600 pages of many other authors. He doesn’t really have fluff in his books, it’s like 1200 pages of actual story.
The first 2 have kinda flown by for me.

I really liked the Dalinar sections of Oathbringer. The other bits, whilst still good, were not great. Lots of Cosmere connections. Have fun!

I saw Mononoke a few years ago, and thought it was solid. Though Spirited Away, that film rocked my world. I don't watch a lot of anime myself, but Spirited Away is a magical film. Good luck with your reading this month, I am hoping to get to the second book of the Edan series after I really liked The Way of Edan, and I'm hoping to get it soon. I also am on the way to my Summer readathon where I'll be reading a bunch of books over the summer...and finishing Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell while I'm at it. I'm also about to start Power of The Dog from Don Winslow, for whom I blame Carlos and Yolanda from Storytoob's bad influence on me reading.
I also just realized like a dummy that I accidentally got the third book of Edan rather than the second one as I intended...fuck! Anyway, great video uncle!
Now you just have to go back and get book 2. You would've book 3 eventually anyway😆
Looks like another great reading month for you. For June my TBR consists of The Warrior Prophet, The Will of the Many, Red Seas Under Red Skies, and then possibly the Sunlit Man or The Frugal Wizard.

Only three books on my June TBR:: The Vanished Birds, The Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson, and hope to finish Don Quixote.
That is a wonderful list. Many different tastes in that buffet.

My June is looking like expanse books 4 (if I dont finish within the next several days), 5, and 6. I may listen to audiobooks while I'm working, but having a difficult time making any headway on any as audiobooks are very difficult for me, more stays in my noggin when I physically absorb it and if I zone out, it's easier to reread that portion. As far as watching, didn't get any further with peaky blinders so when I get to that is anyone's guess, I only like to do 1 episode a day of something and not quite binge things unless I'm worried about spoilers. Then House of the Dragon will also be back in June so I'll be watching that, kindof wish I'd caught up on the lore beforehand, but too late now. I do think the plan is for 1 more season, so before the last one, I'll make it a point to do it. Everyone keeps hyping up ASOIAF on their channels that I feel I should add that to next year's reading. Seriously, there's too much to read and too few hours in the day.
Too many books never enough time😆. Yes ASOIAF is amazing!

For context the other stormlight books took me around 3 months but oathbringer I finished in about 2 weeks so be ready for quite the ride

Oh I am excited for you to read Oathbringer, especially if your favorite character is Dalinar. Oathbringer is my least favorite Stormlight book personally, but on another note- I am extremely excited to hear your thoughts on Princess Mononoke. My favorite Ghibli film is Howl’s Moving Castle Personally, but oh well. I’ve been waiting for the Way of Edan Special Editions before I check that series out because Dr. Chase is so cool. I plan on reading Fool’s Fate by Robin Hobb (I’ve already started it but I might binge read it so we will see if it ends up being part of June) but then I will read either The Exile+ Of War and Ruin or Herald because I am really excited to check out the Godeater Saga. And I might even start my reread of the Bloodsworn Saga so that I can be prepared for The Fury of The Gods. I loved the first two books so much and the third book is one of my most anticipated releases. Sad thing is, I have about two weeks of my schedule taken from me so reading will be limited. I’m done now, have a great day, I’m going to go read my book.

Also, it felt weird to see my last name written correctly in the correspondents and realize that I said my last name differently in the Town Square video. At this point I just changed the way I say my last name, because it's always written without the ~ in documents, since most textboxes don't accept "ñ". I'll try to remember and say it right next video. 😅

Hey John, have you ever read Batman: Going Sane? Came out in 1994. I’m currently doing a Batman read through and read it for the first time. Might be a top 3 Batman story for me. Not sure how it’s not talked about more. Basically a wait if Joker decided he didn’t need to be the joker anymore. Incredible. Give it a try if you haven’t already! Would be interested to hear your opinions on it.

“Princess Mononoke” is my favorite Studio Ghibli movie: Amazing animation, virtually everyone has motivations you can fully sympathize with, not to mention a phenomenal soundtrack by Joe Hisashi! Two things I would like to mention: “Mononoke” means “(Vengeful) Spirit”, so it is not a name: San is the “Mononoke Princess” of the Wood Spirits. Secondly, it is implied that Prince Ashitaka belongs to the Emishi People, think something akin to Japan’s Native Americans, being first pushed out of the native lands and later assimilated into the Yamato Majority of Modern Japan, hence why he is seen as a “foreigner” in Yamato lands.

I am currently reading “The Wise Man’s Fear” (Kingkiller Chronicle #2) by Patrick Rothfuss, and due to me have ploughed through the “Sun Eater” Novellas, I have pushed back “The Dragonbone Chair" by Ted Williams (Memory, Sorrow & Thorn #1, Epic Fantasy) to June, and will continue on with book #2, “Stone of Farewell”.
Next on my June TBR, I have “A Brightness Long Ago” by Guy Gavriel Kay (Historical Fantasy inspired by Renaissance Italy) and “The Darkness That Comes Before” (Prince of Nothing Trilogy #1, Dark/Epic Fantasy inspired by the Crusades and I heard it described as “if Frank Herbert of “Dune” fame, had written Joe Abercrombie’s “First Law” trilogy”…). Animes in my opinion should always be watch sub not dubbed. Its not the same thing. Since you are bringing a dubber maybe you are watching in English but to be fair it's quite different experience.... My five cents.
As a newbie I think I will go dubbed. I can at least enjoy a voice performance that I can understand and see what kind of choices the voice actor made.
