    An ounce sure slows me down. Then again I shouldn’t smoke an ounce before playing.

    I started with the 6" freak kit. I originally had the aluminum inserts. I was pulling out the 685 in favor of 682 and dropped it right on a rock. The edge of the insert was bent in form a 3 foot drop. I later got the 6" stainless inserts. Dropping them was never a problem. I'd personally get the stainless kit for durability. The better internal polishing and lower friction coefficient of stainless vs anodizing on aluminum is a really small difference. You'll turn up your velocity juuust slightly to accommodate this frictional loss. Weight...on an assembled gun with a full loader...stainless vs aluminum...never going to matter. You buy stainless inserts becasue they are durable...no other reason really matters.

    Stainless lower friction and higher machining tolerances. The best benefit though is durability. Can't crush or scratch them easy

    I have the HK Army Lazr kit 8 inch bore set, I have the Freak 5 inch bore master kit, I just picked up the freak XL barrel on my Shocker CVO I'd get the stainless set just for the difference in bore size alone I don't care of weight but that bore size does mater so to have both is a good thing !

    I’m surprised that nobody covers the fact that aluminum will expand and contract much quicker than steel when exposed to temperature changes.

    I have the aluminum kit and I love it. No issues so far. Been playing for about 3-6 months with it. As far as the accuracy you can always adjust the manual dwell for accuracy honing.

    • @JustSujC
      @JustSujC 4 года назад +5

      Dwell doesn’t impact accuracy at all. Please don’t spread misinformation.

    Should I get one of these for a mini gs?

  • @ArthurMorgan45LC
    @ArthurMorgan45LC 3 года назад +3

    Agree to disagree. At the end of the day they both achieve the same goal with one not being any better than the other. The honing “tolerances” equating to perceived accuracy is totally dependent on the quality of the paint. Let’s not forget we’re shooting a round projectile out of a smooth bore, not a bullet out of a rifled barrel. Inconsistencies in paint will always be more apparent and pronounced than any inconsistencies in the machining in either one of these inserts. A paintball isn’t going to wear out the aluminum insert any more than the steel to the point you’re going to truly notice a drop in performance. If that was truly the case they would only make them in steel. Also, if an ounce isn’t that noticeable in weight it’s not going to be any more noticeable when “aiding in recoil”. If someone suffers on basic recoil control on a paintball gun they clearly need more practice and training because one ounce isn’t going to make a difference. Don’t get me wrong, quality gear aids in performance, but at the end of the day understanding and mastering the basics and properly executing them is what matters.
    To each their own though!

    Modern-day precision machining will get both materials for inserts spot on in tolerances. Modern-day measurement can get even more precise then .001 lol 😆 so that is not a good reason lol also the aluminum is a great insert and i can feel the difference in a ounce lol

  • @franknickell2191
    @franknickell2191 4 года назад +1

    Don't forget putting it in and out all the time. I bought the aluminum one and the inserts do not fit inside the barrel correctly so make sure you buy in store and test each insert into the back of the barrel

    They could coat the stainless in coating like nickel teflon or Titanium nitrade to make them even more slick and durable...
