The game won’t run for me anymore keeps saying I have run out of ram memory when playing but I have 16gb of ram and a decent graphics card I’m not sure how to fix or if anyone else knows?
@@THABONEZONE Hey friend, Download and use Intelligent standby list cleaner, it's what I use in order to be able to play Escape From Tarkov. If it that still fails to do the trick, allocate more RAM from your SSD. Plenty of guides out there showing you how to do so. For example I also only have 16gb of ram, however if needs be my computer can allow up to 40gb. When I play Tarkov, certain maps along Windows will consume as much as 26gb of memory. Don't forget your PC has to run Windows and all the background services and apps as well as the game. Windows alone will consume from 4gb to 8gb(5.8gb as I'm writing this with only have 3 Firefox tabs opened) depending on what you have installed. That leaves in most cases about 8-10gb of memory to play games... 16Gb is quickly becoming obsolete.

Squad is one of those games where a 4k monitor is genuinely useful. Just because of the sheer gameplay boost you get from using red dots and iron sights
I wish Squad would implement a fov system like Arma Reforger. In Reforger you can have a higher fov and still use the optics on weapons as the fov seems to toggle back to a lower setting when aiming. Also, when recommending clearing the user cache or reinstalling it would be helpful to include a note about backing up keybinds. I always have to look up a guide each time so that I don’t waste 15 minutes trying to remember all my binds.

It’s incredible work you’ve done here. It amazes me that developers put settings into games with zero education to their audience on what these things do or how to tune them. They’re clearly out there for the audience to adjust, but across the board the developers themselves completely neglect the education part.
Very true, maybe its just a matter of time, its kind of complicated and most people just go into a game and play without even changing settings. I always tweak games before playing so i wont have to do i t later. Powerful GPUs are a pretty new thing so maybe the environment has to evolve in its own pace

Pre V3 was getting a pretty solid 60fps capped (with odd dips when a lot of action going on), post V3 with same settings framerate is all over the place 30-50fps with the occasional 60ish (cleared cache after update, made little to no difference). Really can't enjoy the game with such a variable framerate, I'd go as far as saying it's barely playable, in general V3 is a step backwards. Ryzen 5 3600, 16gb ram, rx5700, installed on ssd. Edit: 3.0.1 hotfix mostly fixed performance and stability issues that were introduced with v3, still get 10-15fps less on Black Coast.
@@ltpetsema876 The hotfix (3.0.1) mostly fixed performance and stability for me, back to 2.16 performance on most the maps, a capped 60fps with a few dips here and there, Black Coast is around 45-50fps with the odd dip, much more playable now though.
I know a lot of people like it, but I legit wish they would have never updated the graphics engine. I haven't been able to play the game since the update.

@@BurtSampson this game can be run on a gtx 770 4gb graphics card and a i7 3770k cpu. Like 9 year old hardware. I found forcing the gpu to lower the post processing on squad helped with frames a lot. I forget what all I did but I forced several settings through that, and I went from sub 30fps to mostly 38-50 fps with short and occasional dips to 28 when explosions are going a bit nuts. Mostly low settings but with the GeForce settings altered and the cpu overclocked to 4.2 instead of 3.5ghz. I find it's 100% playable and I'm using literally the bare minimum in specs.

I dont know how and why but I was pretty much the only player in the world with a decent pc who had INSANE framedrops and total freeze for 2 or 3 seconds each time I encountered enemy close range without them even shooting at me. It became even worse when we both started engaging each other. So I was only able to fight from distance and try to ambush enemies and even then, if an airstrike came in anywhere on the map, I had framedrops and didn't hit the enemy but this is an issue many have as I heard. So anymways. When 3.2 (the new 3.2) came along, it really fixed those CQC stutters and freezes! 2 years in, I can finally play and have shootouts and do CQC and even kill guys!!! My experience with squad just turned up from 0 to 100 real quick. I really love this game eventhough I have been playing Arma 3 for 9 years now, it is not hard for me to say that I like Squad more for the fun of it. But nothing comes close to Arma 3 when it comes to actual intelligence and strategy in order to just stay alive. At some point in Arma you may even find yourself avoiding scenarios or fights but with Squad it's like "Arma Light" and Call of Duty just came together to give you a semi realistic yet hard and fun game in which it is most important to communicate and think rather than carrying big guns or rushing in.
I use a i7 3770k, and a gtx 770 4gb. Even at almost all settings at their lowest. I still have a hard time staying in the 30+fps. Games 100% playable after lowering post processing through the GeForce settings. Most the time I'm 38-50fps but with occasional shoet dips to 28 fps.

Il add this in just incase if anyone needs it, because TBH its a very important setting that was added recently and is NOT mentioned in this video. AMD FidelityFX is a MUST TURN ON if you are on a low end PC. Adding up to 20 more FPS on "Ultra Performance". Though most low end PC's like mine will do perfectly well on Balanced or Performance. As for FSR2 Sharpness, I saw no difference. Hope this helps!
Moi, the in-game settings aren't the only things that have an impact on your performace. You also have to tweak some stuff on the Nvidia control panel.

I am running the same graphics card as you and had all settings horribly wrong lol. I had all performance punchers on and mostly epic settings. Still my fps were not too bad so i didnt have a problem so far. I hope to increase my fps drastically now with your tips. Thanks!
Running everything on max. Still gives 5120×1440p ultra wide 120-140fps. Also 3840×2160 TV still gets 80-90fps. Using 12900k with a 3080ti DDR5 5500mhz 64gb Ram dual channel

Glad to see I'm not alone. Everythings going fine then all a sudden I suddenly drop to 0,xx fps for anywhere between 30 sec to over a min. Happens maybe once per game and I have no idea what's causing it, but due to this reason I'm scared to go pilot in live games, I'd hate for this shit to happen while I'm transporting a full squad...
on one of the Squad game maps I found an empty shack in the woods. with beds, a refridgerator, a table and laptops in it. and on the wall there were posters saying "IRONCLADLION", "KARMAKUT", "MOIDAWG", "HYPE"

Excellent vid! This is very helpful and greatly appreciated. I have a 1650 and if I play too much with textures or shaders it glitches out and all textures look like play doh. Deleting cache back to point of glitch remedies this.
Some problems with your explanation of VSync. VSync introduces a buffer system that adds a small amount of input lag in exchange for ensuring frames synchronize with your monitor. If your framerate is consistently 10%+ above your monitor framerate, it will work fine. If you have dips below your monitor framerate, VSync can limit FPS to integer divisions of your monitor's framerate (1/2, 1/3), which is quite bad. Many people have GSync or Freesync monitors (or some other form of Adaptive Sync) which will, when enabled, perform framerate-adaptive synchronization in a certain frequency range (often 50-144), with less input lag than VSync. AFAIK there isn't a setting for this in Squad; it's just on through your GPU and display settings.

Yo Moidawg can you make an updated settings guide when ICO drops? Thank you. Also, I can't really understand, my specs are comparable to you, but I can't seem to play at that settings. Specs: Ryzen 5 3600X RX 5700 XT 16GB 8x2 3200Mhz CL14 G.Skill FlareX RAM Squad on SATA SSD.
AA setting and samples do affect performance pretty noticeably for me, and so does the AO settings. I turn AO to low/off, and I only pick the AA samples (x8) and setting of High specifically because I can get away with it on my system. But it's bad advice to say 'just set these to whatever looks good to you...'. Biggest frame killers are Resolution Scale (leave at 100), AO, shadow quality, and tesselation. And of course if you run out of texture memory you need to tune this to whatever works well with your GPU capability. Always reset your cache after a major release, and leave vsync off.
I have low end pc and I get best visual with AA off and resolution scaling 125%. And performance is similar. My limitation is CPU so maybe that is why I don't see difference between using AA or res. scale. AA is too blurry for me and res.scaling fixes it but still lets me pick enemy player pixels far in the distance. FX6300@4.2GHz, rx570 nitro+ 4gb, 16GB DDR3 ram, SSD
I still have issues with really bad ghosting. When I turn antialiasing completely off it goes away but I can't live without antialiasing. Really wish the developers would somehow allow Nvidia control panel settings override so I could just use driver antialiasing.
One thing I noticed in my case is Squad runs a million times better on an SSD. I had lots of problems with lag and frame drops playing on an HDD until I switched to a m.2 nvme ssd. Now my frames are pretty consistent and the lag is almost non existent. Just something to consider. Also, I like to play at 4k native resolution and 50% render resolution (1440p). That way I get some of the benefits of 4k but the performance of 1440p. Works great for me.
Thank you so much. Squad was running great for 700 hours and now after that last small update I keep getting fps drops that makes it unplayable. I cleared my cache messed with graphics and used Navida to optimize the game but nothing seems to work. I gone to just reinstalling the game so I will try again when it's done downloading.

Same problem mate! On the new map black coast I even have dips as low as 20fps and massive lag spikes which makes it unplayable for me😔

If you buy a fast gpu, you basically need a fast CPU to keep up with it

I just went from 24gb of 2133 to 32gb 3200 and I got probably 10-15 frame increase. In this game every single frame matters
32gb RAM is a HUGE help with Squad. Good call!

Excellent vid! This is very helpful and greatly appreciated. I have a 1650 and if I play too much with textures or shaders it glitches out and all textures look like play doh. Deleting cache back to point of glitch remedies this.

Some problems with your explanation of VSync. VSync introduces a buffer system that adds a small amount of input lag in exchange for ensuring frames synchronize with your monitor. If your framerate is consistently 10%+ above your monitor framerate, it will work fine. If you have dips below your monitor framerate, VSync can limit FPS to integer divisions of your monitor's framerate (1/2, 1/3), which is quite bad.
Many people have GSync or Freesync monitors (or some other form of Adaptive Sync) which will, when enabled, perform framerate-adaptive synchronization in a certain frequency range (often 50-144), with less input lag than VSync. AFAIK there isn't a setting for this in Squad; it's just on through your GPU and display settings.
I turn on VSync in every game and have a global fps cap of 4 under my refresh rate.
I believe you just leave Vsync in game off if you have Gsync. I think there is nothing more to do as long as Gsync is enabled in Nvidia control panel.
@@AeroElectro I don’t think you have to turn on VSync for GSync, but there’s evidence that it still makes the game smoother if you keep the game from hitting the refresh rate. Check out this video where it’s tested in depth:

AA setting and samples do affect performance pretty noticeably for me, and so does the AO settings. I turn AO to low/off, and I only pick the AA samples (x8) and setting of High specifically because I can get away with it on my system. But it's bad advice to say 'just set these to whatever looks good to you...'. Biggest frame killers are Resolution Scale (leave at 100), AO, shadow quality, and tesselation. And of course if you run out of texture memory you need to tune this to whatever works well with your GPU capability. Always reset your cache after a major release, and leave vsync off.
I have low end pc and I get best visual with AA off and resolution scaling 125%. And performance is similar. My limitation is CPU so maybe that is why I don't see difference between using AA or res. scale. AA is too blurry for me and res.scaling fixes it but still lets me pick enemy player pixels far in the distance.

I still have issues with really bad ghosting. When I turn antialiasing completely off it goes away but I can't live without antialiasing. Really wish the developers would somehow allow Nvidia control panel settings override so I could just use driver antialiasing.
One thing I noticed in my case is Squad runs a million times better on an SSD. I had lots of problems with lag and frame drops playing on an HDD until I switched to a m.2 nvme ssd. Now my frames are pretty consistent and the lag is almost non existent. Just something to consider. Also, I like to play at 4k native resolution and 50% render resolution (1440p). That way I get some of the benefits of 4k but the performance of 1440p. Works great for me.
SSD + 32gb RAM will do wonders!

Thank you so much. Squad was running great for 700 hours and now after that last small update I keep getting fps drops that makes it unplayable. I cleared my cache messed with graphics and used Navida to optimize the game but nothing seems to work. I gone to just reinstalling the game so I will try again when it's done downloading.

@@levihill7897 nope. I had to put all my graphics to low and I still will get some fps drops it's just not so much its not completely unplayable. I don't know what happened though cause I used to play it on high.

Don't use Nvidia gerforce expierence to optimize the game. It will only make your FPS worse.
