In my honest opinion General Finishes Milk Paint is The Best of the best.. I have used it on many projects, Kitchen Cabinets, a Buffet Credenza, and I just finished painting all of the windows and moldings in my 4 season sunroom.. The finish is Flawless and I love the sheen of it after it dries. 🚩Just note that if you use a Topcoat on a white color ,it may yellow over time. This is the paint that they use on furniture when you go into an unfinished furniture store where you can order a piece and pick your own color…❤
Thank you so much. I haven't tried the line yet, but going to use it on the nightstand and dresser I am renovating. Using water I heard on the brush also helps in applying the thick paint. Awesome review.
Karin Peters thank you so much Karin. The vanity piece of furniture is absolutely beautiful. The choice of color in the Sherwin Williams line meditative color is calming and blends well with my decor also. How cool does the vanity look. Yep, zibra brushes are the best. Thank you for the tips!
I have chalk painted almost all of my furniture. I've never used milk paint but I loved the general finishes top coat so I decided to buy some of the milk paint. My question. it says on the can that if you are painting over wood not raw wood to use denatured alcohol. that is kind of expensive I thought. did you use that underneath your milk paint or what did you do? thanks for sharing.
Thank you sososososo much, I love GF products. But I have always used the Oil Based Stains so this will be a first for me to use the Milk Paint. Thank you for being so detailed.
If I was painting GF milk paint over a piece that was already painted in something else should I sand it first or can the GF milk paint go right overtop of the existing paint? THANK YOU
Hey Dee. It's the Home Depot "Best" roller with a 3/8 fiber mat. It is white with a green line. It's pretty great and I use it for all furniture! Thanks Dee!
Great Review! Would you recommend the General Finishes for cabinets. Also, could I use a water based primer underneath the General Finishes Paint? Thanks!
I used GF milk paint for cabinets twice so far, it is excellent and the coverage goes a long way. I did my whole kitchen with a quart and a half, and it is very durable. Use the high performance top coat and they are so easy to keep clean.
very nice review / comparison. bought some of the General Finishes gel stain today. Also picked up a satin clear. I figured it was good stuff.

SW Pro Classic ..with heavy use as in kitchen cabinets does it need a clear coat? If so what brand and that doesn't yellow?
Just spent half an hour trying to find Behr Best 6" microfiber roller covers with no success. Where do you get yours?

What was that roller again--Bare Best? I couldn't find it.

I think it would work well on cabinets but I think it would be a really expensive option verses other latex paints.

Great video. Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Every time I've refinished a piece covered with latex paint where I need to strip it, I swear I will never do it again.
General Finishes milk paint is 100% acrylic, not latex.
Hey Samantha, it is but most acrylic paint is categorized as latex. In the video I clarify that it is a latex paint that is specialized for furniture.
