My husband was a huge George Winston fan. When we first started dating we would listen to his albums again and again. There was such beauty in his hands.
My husband died suddenly 13 years ago today. I had forgotten the titles but not the melodies when I accidentally saw it on RUclips. I can still see my husband and I enjoying his gift. Didn’t know he had passed. His songs will live forever and I’m so glad to have rediscovered them and introduce them to my 2 sons who had never heard them.
We saw him in Carnegie Hall playing Vince Guaraldi in stocking feet and in inviting the audience to dance to Linus and Lucy. He was amazing.

My absolutely favorite pianist. I had tickets to see him but COVID shutdown postponed the show and then cancelled due to his failing health eventually. Rest in Peace George. He left a legacy of beautiful music that speaks to your soul and I thank him for that.❤

My favorite artist. I heard this playing in a coffee shop in 1982 in Santa Rosa, California and had to ask what it was. Ever since, I've collected - and gifted - every "Seasons" album. Thanks, George Winston!

I first heard it at a December wedding reception around 1990, maybe? Hooked ever since. And like someone said down the thread, it stays on near constant-repeat in the early days of my Christmas music. Which starts, by the way, on Labor Day every year. Thank you, George. And happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Growing up in the United States, as a musician, I'm accustomed to starting to sing Christmas music in August/September. But the actual holiday itself doesn't start until Thanksgiving (which is close enough to the start of Advent as to not matter), and it has to be kicked off with George Winston's "Thanksgiving"... followed by about one month of having the "December" album on near-constant repeat. Don't get me wrong, I love my Christmas music, and my collection of stuff is very particular, but this album, and this track in particular, always gets my mind in the right place. I think the "Thanksgiving" piece is one of the most lovely bits of music I have ever heard, and while part of that is certainly the music itself and George Winston's playing of the piece, I know some of it is just that it always serves to put me in a reflective mood (even more so than "Reflections" from "Winter into Spring"), and get my mind and heart in the right place for the closing of the year.
Thanksgiving is truly one of the most poignant pieces of music I have ever heard ❤ So grateful to Mr. Winston for this gift to all🙏❤️
