Woke Bullcrap. That's what I think of it. Marvel has Truly fallen from grace. She has NO, I repeat, NO story arc. No growing. No lessons to be learned. Nothing. Terrible. Probably the worse Marvel Series on Disney.
I got an idea for these screenwriters. Why not change the title to She Hulk! The Social Justice Warrior liberal! In that way they will make every mealy mouthed pablum puking liberal in Hollywood happy. C'MON MAN!
It was crap. Heck, even my friends where some are women (a couple even are feminist) felt this show insults men's and women's intelligence and "the concept of humanity" equally. And the shitting-on-men, and the "hate all men" mentality in media needs to stop since forever.

This dude is awesome. He's actually fair and balanced when it comes to his critiques of "woke" culture and crappy comic book TV shows and movies. He doesn't just post thumbnails with googly eyes and just hate on everything like G&G, Nerdrotic, etc. He's very articulate without sounding robotic and doesn't have 3 hour streams talking about the same rhetoric without offering any type of solutions like those 'outrage' channels do. Yes these companies suck and you need to put them on front street, but there's ways to do it that are more nuanced and mature. Great job man 👍🏽

Right? Her rants were silly enough by themselves, but it was especially stupid to have her deliver them to Bruce. The audience has a history with Bruce. They know about his dead friends and love, his loneliness, his shame, his guilt, his suicide attempt, his feelings about being trapped inside hulk. That knowledge made her "I can deal with anger better than you" line so much more hilarious than it already was.

This show is an insult to women. The writers don't realize that why we empathize with a character is because we see their weakness and vulnerability. If they were smart, they would of made her struggle like Bruce had to control the power, maybe make her Hulk out during a court case and almost kill someone. We like characters who we can sympathies with and can get behind, not this crap.
Exactly. Somehow this show claims to support women and then touches on every female stereotype imaginable. We want our heroes to be the better version of ourselves we wish we could be, and that includes overcoming vulnerabilities. A Mary Sue character gives us nothing, it's just boring.
Yeah with these female superheroes we don’t ever see them really get a training period where they are struggling or getting their ass kicked…they’re just naturally OP. Unlike Tony in the cave, Tchalla losing to killmonger, Moonknight losing multiple fights etc.
Yeah, those types of characters are just boring. I have nothing to root for and no struggle to relate to. Now Homelander is a very interesting character. He's a villain, so the rules are a bit different, but you love to hate him. They also do a good job of showing how his power feeds his psychosis.

@@callmehalimede6831 Female characters can totally be shown to be more badass than their male counterparts, and everyone will love it. The best example of this is Hit girl from Kickass. She is a tiny little child who comes in and shit talks the male protagonist and even is better than him at everything. All the things people complain about female heroes doing. But it worked. It worked because we also see her get the shit beat of her, and we have the exposition that she trained basically from birth. And we know that her condescension towards Kickass is not sexism because she looks up to Big Daddy. She isn't condescending towards Kickass because he is a dude, but rather because he is a noob and she has been training for years. It feels earned and deserved.
The worst part to me is that the She-Hulk from the comics is a Mary-Sue done well and they STILL ruined it! She has confidence out the wazoo, she is an ace attorney and knows it, and she loves her new super powers. Her character arc is actually learning to be a decent person. She was perfect for this kind of show, and they still ruined her.

I can't call myself a comic fan, but I had to watch Amazon massacre The Wheel of Time, so I understand what it's like to see a show runner crap all over a character you love. Beyond that, though, its just a bad show. I think people could forgive diverging from the source material if the product we got wasn't so awful

Some people call it a feminist show, but if you think about it, feminists should despise this show. Let me explain. Literally everyone who isn’t “woke AF”, and even most who are, will cringe hard to this show. The shows message won’t only fall flat to those who disagree with the woke worldview, it will cause people to actively root against the modern feminist “movement”. If you want me to sympathize with her, you have to give me a reason to feel sympathy, but they don’t. This show makes a joke out of woke ideology without trying to, and It will be shows like this that people think about when they think of wokeness. You want a strong female lead? Cool. You make a very good point. A lot of people think, “Feminism is about equality, why do people hate it so much.” Yet this show is trash, and it’s created by some feminists who actually think like this, and they don’t get called out. So now feminism isn’t associated with equality, it’s associated with man hating. Hence why it’s unpopular. I used to be a feminist. In some ways, I still am; my opinions never changed. But if feminism as a whole can’t disown this crap, I can’t be a part of their movement.

(2) the chance to make a memorable female character who is also the main character; . (3) and a built-in audience for, if nothing else, the first episode (which is rarely guaranteed to a new series debuting). . Then any worldbuilding, backstory expansion, easter eggs and Marvel Universe crossover elements would've been a plethora of cherries on top the ice cream sundae of a good show. Instead of the desperate attempts at catching and keeping the fans' attention that they are.
It really bugs me how people use the fourth wall as a reason this show is amazing or that the comics did it. Yeah the comics did it better and it’s no excuse for the bad writing
I was gonna watch this series to see Daredevil's return but it's so bad I couldn't finish the first episode. No doubt they will destroy the Daredevil character too. Also the CGI looks like friggin Shrek only less realistic. Great review!

Anything Disney stole back from Netflix is going to be horrible. Sure Netflix has their different departments of Films and shows, but when it comes to the gritty badassery of DD and Punisher (I'm not sure Disney stole that back yet), just add a bucket of Water, and alot of SJW BS and feed it to the brainless "Disney and Marvel are the best thing ever" dumbasses that will actually watch it.
I got a feeling that Dare Devil will either be in it for a few minutes or maybe he will be in a whole episode, but its fair to say given what we have seen so far that Matt Murdock will likely get emasulated. She will not want him to mansplain that he's also a lawyer and a hero and knows what its like to balance the two. Imagine an episode where they are both in court representing different people. Obvious they would not let Matt Murdock win for his client against She Hulk! If they are smart they would not put them against each other like that.
I'm afraid there are no good outcomes for Murdock. You're right, they will either be opposing counsels and she will slaughter him, or they'll be on the same side and she'll outshine him in some contrived way. The only glimmer of hope is that they are making a daredevil series in phase 5, right? Maybe they'll stay his castration because he has a show coming up?

Disney writing has gotten rather lazy in recent years and it's a pretty low effort way to show a character having growth, especially if you only have a few episodes and you need to cram in character development
Man, I tired... I genuinely tried. I watched like the first three episodes. I suffered through it. And I hoped, truly, that it would get better. And then... it was just... no. Just no. The writing is so terrible, it would be an upgrade to call it "hot garbage."
Yes and in further ep they will show men having a feeling of lust for her and she will get all the popularity and attention. Even then she will deny the fact that this is due the superpowers she never wanted to have and then she will be like: "my brother also have similar powers but he was just an ass hole destroying cities I know how to use these powers coz I'm better.
It won't matter what happens, she will overcome every challenge with ease. I haven't watched the second episode, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to watch more just to make more videos

All my sympathy to you, you poor unfortunate soul, in pain for our sake. Also thank you for doing it so some don't have to, and others will have some company in their misery for also having suffered through additional episodes.
Why she-hulk though why couldnt the mcu fricking make a hulk series/movie I mean lets be clear Mark Ruffalo is the only OG avenger who hasnt got his own movie or show and now the mcu introduces us with a random women whom we have never seen before and she gets her own series on her FIRST appearence and at the end we see hulks son sakaar introduced so how convinient of the mcu to bring these characters in for the mantle of hulk
I don't mind that others can like this show and character but i can't. I need to see more hints into an interesting character arc. Right now, its like going back in time before Tony Stark became Iron Man, giving him the Armor suit without being held hostage and growing as a character. If i remember right, that's kinda the way he was in Iron Man 2 when Tony thought he was dying and was just being a dick. So its kinda feels like that before extended with no or slow progress.
You're right, and by iron man 2, we had a character we cared about so we endured the childish behavior in the beginning of the movie. The Tony Stark magic is sorely missing from the new phase.

The 1:20 "smile more" ...I was exiting a grocery store mere days ago, and a homeless man was sitting by where cars go in or out to the parking lot. I had my window down and turned my head in his direction to check for oncoming cars. And the guy commands, apropos of nothing, "Smile!" Because even when that far down on their luck, men persevere in their duty to remind women of their obligation to be socially pleasant and appealing to men. . It pissed me off when I considered that it made She-Hulk's self-righteous monologues and contrived caricatures of irl interactions between men and women, look/sound slightly right-er. The writing (and character) is still terrible overall, ofc.
3:50 The thing is, even if we shared their worldview, the writing is still awful. It lacks any subtlety or wit, there's no moment of doubt she won't come out on top in the arguments, and her conversation partners just hang out and let her monologue The Reason Why You Suck (trope) and etc. at them without inconveniently interrupting her or walking away or otherwise acting like actual people. . There's no satisfaction in the win even for people who support her winning. It's the complete opposite of a slow-burn story. It's like a badly written fanfic that starts out "once upon a modern time..." and then three pages later it's "and then they had lotsa hawt sehkysee times and she climaxed like a million times ina hour and so hard she saw supernovas and passed out". . Bad scene writing aside, there's no anticipation, and everybody knows (or should, by the time they're old enough to be hired as professional writers in Hollywood) that anticipation is half the fun. And payoffs are only rewarding if there was real doubt about getting them despite all the character's hard work (that we got to see) put into the achieving them.
Easy money. I think at this point Disney knows they will make money on basically everything, so why try hard? Look at Thor 4, which has been widely panned as lazy and silly. It's hundreds of billions of dollars in profit at this point.

Reviews aren't meant to give constructive criticism, that's what critics are for. Good characters have flaws and good writing tells a story. This show has neither of those and is instead using a one-dimensional character to drive a wedge between men and women for some reason. If that's the type of show you look forward to finishing, then by all means renew your Disney+ subscription.
That line was from the end of the video, so kudos for watching the whole thing before telling me why you dislike it. That's rare. I tried to avoid some of the gender stuff, but it's impossible with this show. A core concept of the show and character is "men bad", which makes for bland content. I did mention that it's possible they are leaving room for growth, but they didn't take even a single chance to start showing any of. In fact, it seems like they almost purposely didn't. It's true we are only one episode in. That is an indictment of the pacing and storytelling of the show that so much exposition was crammed in, and it's also a consequence of the new 8 episode streaming seasons, which I dislike. I guess we'll find out more as we go

this was how she was written from the beginning. She-Hulk was written as a goofy female who acted like a child even though she was an adult female with a powerhouse job. She-Hulk was a comedic comic book character from the start. They are actually protraying her as she was written. If you dont like it. dont watch it. I loved it

Correction. In the comics She-Hulk began as a female hulk clone with the exact same issues as the hulk. That was her canonical beginning. It would be later that she gained the ability to keep her mind when she transformed. Then, just before Civil War 2, she fought Thanos, was hospitalised and was medically dead when her heart stopped. This was when the fun, compassionate, witty and intelligent She-Hulk died. What came back after the doctors restarted her heart was a brooding, traumatised, PTSD feminist She-Hulk with none of what made her popular with readers. She-Hulk was. Feminist icon, but it was an early form of feminism that taught woman to be confident in themselves and be their best selves. After CW2, she was written to be a modern feminist. Full of victimhood narratives and man hating rhetoric without foundation… The audience is over this kind of woke Hollywood output. It will be called out and scorned for the regressive social pressure it represents and though it will never be destroyed, with time we can see to it that it’s buried away where it won’t cause anymore harm to society, as we call for a return to proper entertainment. The Orville represents the writing She-Hulk should have strived for. Instead they were lazy and gave us a low effort CGI fest where even the CGI people got stiffed.
Alan, if you enjoyed it then I'm genuinely happy for you. However, I have to agree with these other folks that the tone and theme is so horrible, it has to be talked about. The truth is that I wasn't planning to watch it or do a video, but my kids started it while I was making dinner (an absolutely incredible shrimp Alfredo that erased the show from my mind as I ate) and it was just so wildly awful that I had to make a video. If she hulk had just been a goofy character and the show was mildly entertaining, that would have been one thing, but what we got was an anti-man rant from the writers. I can't even call it pro-woman. It was just angry and man-hating.
That's incorrect, Alan. The She-Hulk was NOT written like that from the beginning. She was shy, mousy, and somewhat suppressed as Jen Walters, and when angry, became the She-Hulk. That was in the Savage She-Hulk series. Years later she later gained the ability to change between Jen and She-Hulk, and then years after that, lost the ability to change and was She-Hulk permanently. But she had a more upbeat and extroverted personality only as She-Hulk. When she was stripped of her powers by the Radioactive Man, she was horrified and was in isolation for weeks, before being able to become She-Hulk again. In this series, they picked Tatiana Maslany of all people - an actress renown for playing multiple people in the same series - and they went out of their way to give her the exact same personality between her Jen and She-Hulk forms. It's not in-line with the comics, and fails to utilize the talent they hired in the lead role.
Disney certainly is taking it seriously, or was. Entertainment is big serious business, but they are no longer delivering the quality to earn the viewers' time and money.

Lol, nice line. I think Disney is having far more misses than hits lately and is just phoning things in. The truth is that I wasn't going to watch the show, let alone make a video, but my kids had it on and it was so bad that I knew I could make some talking points about the writing. This was also a convenient stop gap because I'm still working on a video about Disney's overall poor writing of women, but the great and mysterious RUclips algorithm demands consistent uploads.

I call bad writing as I see it. They made the decision to cram too much in one episode and the show wasn't good. Bruce's whole story line is about regret, shame, and flaws. When we first meet him with Natasha going to collect him, he is hiding so as not to hurt anyone. Then he finches at her and she pulls a gun and proves that everyone is terrified of him. He reveals that he tried to kill himself at one point. In the she-hulk show he gives her the line "once people see you as a monster that doesn't go away" and Ruffalo does a good job of putting a lot of pain into the words. The character suffers plenty of consequence and shows growth. Now, it's fair to say that Banner has had the advantage of more screen time than Jen, and maybe they'll develop her (I address this at the end of the video), but the portrayal of the character thus far suggests there will be no growth because she is already perfect.

Some people call it a feminist show, but if you think about it, feminists should despise this show. Let me explain.
Literally everyone who isn’t “woke AF”, and even most who are, will cringe hard to this show. The shows message won’t only fall flat to those who disagree with the woke worldview, it will cause people to actively root against the modern feminist “movement”. If you want me to sympathize with her, you have to give me a reason to feel sympathy, but they don’t. This show makes a joke out of woke ideology without trying to, and It will be shows like this that people think about when they think of wokeness.
You want a strong female lead? Cool. I can get behind that. I literally have no issues with female leads. My issue is with cringe girl power, cringe “all men are evil”, cringe “im perfect because im a wahman”, etc.
Feminists should be pissed about this show because it doesn’t argue the worldview in a way that can bring in new people who didn’t share those views. That would've made for such a better show. I'm so disappointed in the show for a lot of things. But especially that they were given :

(1) the perfect visual metaphor for unseen inner struggles;

(2) the chance to make a memorable female character who is also the main character;

(3) and a built-in audience for, if nothing else, the first episode (which is rarely guaranteed to a new series debuting).

Then any worldbuilding, backstory expansion, easter eggs and Marvel Universe crossover elements would've been a plethora of cherries on top the ice cream sundae of a good show. Instead of the desperate attempts at catching and keeping the fans' attention that they are.

I was gonna watch this series to see Daredevil's return but it's so bad I couldn't finish the first episode. No doubt they will destroy the Daredevil character too. Also the CGI looks like friggin Shrek only less realistic. Great review!

Anything Disney stole back from Netflix is going to be horrible.
Sure Netflix has their different departments of Films and shows, but when it comes to the gritty badassery of DD and Punisher (I'm not sure Disney stole that back yet), just add a bucket of Water, and alot of SJW BS and feed it to the brainless "Disney and Marvel are the best thing ever" dumbasses that will actually watch it.
I got a feeling that Dare Devil will either be in it for a few minutes or maybe he will be in a whole episode, but its fair to say given what we have seen so far that Matt Murdock will likely get emasulated. She will not want him to mansplain that he's also a lawyer and a hero and knows what its like to balance the two.
Imagine an episode where they are both in court representing different people. Obvious they would not let Matt Murdock win for his client against She Hulk! If they are smart they would not put them against each other like that.

Disney writing has gotten rather lazy in recent years and it's a pretty low effort way to show a character having growth, especially if you only have a few episodes and you need to cram in character development
Man, I tired... I genuinely tried. I watched like the first three episodes. I suffered through it. And I hoped, truly, that it would get better. And then... it was just... no. Just no. The writing is so terrible, it would be an upgrade to call it "hot garbage."
Yes and in further ep they will show men having a feeling of lust for her and she will get all the popularity and attention. Even then she will deny the fact that this is due the superpowers she never wanted to have and then she will be like: "my brother also have similar powers but he was just an ass hole destroying cities I know how to use these powers coz I'm better.
It won't matter what happens, she will overcome every challenge with ease. I haven't watched the second episode, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to watch more just to make more videos

I don't mind that others can like this show and character but i can't. I need to see more hints into an interesting character arc. Right now, its like going back in time before Tony Stark became Iron Man, giving him the Armor suit without being held hostage and growing as a character. If i remember right, that's kinda the way he was in Iron Man 2 when Tony thought he was dying and was just being a dick. So its kinda feels like that before extended with no or slow progress.
You're right, and by iron man 2, we had a character we cared about so we endured the childish behavior in the beginning of the movie.

The 1:20 "smile more" ...I was exiting a grocery store mere days ago, and a homeless man was sitting by where cars go in or out to the parking lot. I had my window down and turned my head in his direction to check for oncoming cars. And the guy commands, apropos of nothing, "Smile!" Because even when that far down on their luck, men persevere in their duty to remind women of their obligation to be socially pleasant and appealing to men.

Bad scene writing aside, there's no anticipation, and everybody knows (or should, by the time they're old enough to be hired as professional writers in Hollywood) that anticipation is half the fun. And payoffs are only rewarding if there was real doubt about getting them despite all the character's hard work (that we got to see) put into the achieving them.

Reviews aren't meant to give constructive criticism, that's what critics are for. Good characters have flaws and good writing tells a story. This show has neither of those and is instead using a one-dimensional character to drive a wedge between men and women for some reason. If that's the type of show you look forward to finishing, then by all means renew your Disney+ subscription.
That line was from the end of the video, so kudos for watching the whole thing before telling me why you dislike it. That's rare.
I tried to avoid some of the gender stuff, but it's impossible with this show. A core concept of the show and character is "men bad", which makes for bland content.
I did mention that it's possible they are leaving room for growth, but they didn't take even a single chance to start showing any of. In fact, it seems like they almost purposely didn't.
It's true we are only one episode in. That is an indictment of the pacing and storytelling of the show that so much exposition was crammed in, and it's also a consequence of the new 8 episode streaming seasons, which I dislike.
I guess we'll find out more as we go

Not to make it about gender or anything, but I never really see this much hate for new male characters. Only the female characters. But hey, just my observation
this was how she was written from the beginning. She-Hulk was written as a goofy female who acted like a child even though she was an adult female with a powerhouse job. She-Hulk was a comedic comic book character from the start. They are actually protraying her as she was written. If you dont like it. dont watch it. I loved it

Correction. In the comics She-Hulk began as a female hulk clone with the exact same issues as the hulk. That was her canonical beginning.
It would be later that she gained the ability to keep her mind when she transformed.
Then, just before Civil War 2, she fought Thanos, was hospitalised and was medically dead when her heart stopped. This was when the fun, compassionate, witty and intelligent She-Hulk died.
What came back after the doctors restarted her heart was a brooding, traumatised, PTSD feminist She-Hulk with none of what made her popular with readers. She-Hulk was. Feminist icon, but it was an early form of feminism that taught woman to be confident in themselves and be their best selves. After CW2, she was written to be a modern feminist. Full of victimhood narratives and man hating rhetoric without foundation…
The audience is over this kind of woke Hollywood output. It will be called out and scorned for the regressive social pressure it represents and though it will never be destroyed, with time we can see to it that it’s buried away where it won’t cause anymore harm to society, as we call for a return to proper entertainment.
The Orville represents the writing She-Hulk should have strived for. Instead they were lazy and gave us a low effort CGI fest where even the CGI people got stiffed.
Alan, if you enjoyed it then I'm genuinely happy for you. However, I have to agree with these other folks that the tone and theme is so horrible, it has to be talked about. The truth is that I wasn't planning to watch it or do a video, but my kids started it while I was making dinner (an absolutely incredible shrimp Alfredo that erased the show from my mind as I ate) and it was just so wildly awful that I had to make a video.

That's incorrect, Alan. The She-Hulk was NOT written like that from the beginning. She was shy, mousy, and somewhat suppressed as Jen Walters, and when angry, became the She-Hulk. That was in the Savage She-Hulk series. Years later she later gained the ability to change between Jen and She-Hulk, and then years after that, lost the ability to change and was She-Hulk permanently. But she had a more upbeat and extroverted personality only as She-Hulk. When she was stripped of her powers by the Radioactive Man, she was horrified and was in isolation for weeks, before being able to become She-Hulk again. In this series, they picked Tatiana Maslany of all people - an actress renown for playing multiple people in the same series - and they went out of their way to give her the exact same personality between her Jen and She-Hulk forms. It's not in-line with the comics, and fails to utilize the talent they hired in the lead role.

I think Disney is having far more misses than hits lately and is just phoning things in. The truth is that I wasn't going to watch the show, let alone make a video, but my kids had it on and it was so bad that I knew I could make some talking points about the writing.
This was also a convenient stop gap because I'm still working on a video about Disney's overall poor writing of women, but the great and mysterious RUclips algorithm demands consistent uploads.

Bad writing for writing a REALISTIC scene that happens to many women outside of a bar when approached by a group of intoxicated men....yeahhhh completely horrible writing.
I call bad writing as I see it. They made the decision to cram too much in one episode and the show wasn't good.
Bruce's whole story line is about regret, shame, and flaws. When we first meet him with Natasha going to collect him, he is hiding so as not to hurt anyone. Then he finches at her and she pulls a gun and proves that everyone is terrified of him. He reveals that he tried to kill himself at one point. In the she-hulk show he gives her the line "once people see you as a monster that doesn't go away" and Ruffalo does a good job of putting a lot of pain into the words. The character suffers plenty of consequence and shows growth.
Now, it's fair to say that Banner has had the advantage of more screen time than Jen, and maybe they'll develop her (I address this at the end of the video), but the portrayal of the character thus far suggests there will be no growth because she is already perfect.

The point of the video is that the show lacks necessary elements of good writing, like character development and conflict. You want to take it to male ego and sexism and I think that says more about you than anything.

She was mid swing when she got tackled and normal humans die when punched by a hulk.
Now some people argue that she was in full control at that moment and wouldn't have actually punched them. That's not what we are shown, but even if that is true, it just feeds into the idea that she is a character who is already perfect and has no room to grow
