Merci infiniment l’artiste!

This is the best version. He manages to squeeze a lot of emotion into such a temptingly dry fast tempo. To be able to do both is quite impressive..

It is like it is just him and the music...as if Beethoven is reaching through his soul and pouring out this music. There is no audience, no stars, no planets, no universe...just music. He is a lot that way when he conducts as well, but it shows through even more in his solo piano work.
It is just amazing that his only piano teachers were his parents.

It's not only about playing all the notes correctly. It's about the story he's telling with this. The passion behind it. You can really hear and feel it in this recording.

His interpretation was incredible. The contrast of agitated exposition and emphatic warmth . The Epitomy of Beethoven.

  • @Jammys217

his performance of this is really unique in how delicately he treats it. most pianists put more power into it all over, but barenboim aims his power at the important parts. very precise, yet emotional. very good.

I'm sure some young people will genuinely not enjoy listening to classical music, but all of my friends the same age as me(17), who've actually tried listening to it properly, love it. The only ones who say they don't like it, when asked, admit they've never really listened to it properly.
I find a lot of the time on classical videos anyone posting a comment who seems at all immature just get's abuse from other dudes thinking this is a grave disrespectand they must be KILLED BY ELECTRIC CHAIR.

I Love the power, feeling in which Barenboim expresses through his playing and his slurs.. He simply understands how to perform music of the classical period for listeners to interpret. He takes us back to the classical period

  • @Edou467
    @Edou467 14 лет назад

Barenboim's interpretation of this classic virtuosity piece is full of mystery and anger. The tempo changes emphasize the dark atmosphere. Barenboim always thinks about what he does and how. Every dynamic on every note, every rythmic fluctuation is always fully considered fully and controlled. Congratulations ! Thumbs up!

I must say Barenboim is one of the very rare musicians that has gotten better with age. His performances seem much more passionate now than they did thirty to forty years ago. As if only now he has finnaly gained full empathy of the men whose music he is performing, or he has finally shed some long standing inhibitions in his interpretation.

I agree with patrickjohn84. I've listened to the versions presented by Gould, Horowitz, Kempff, and Perahia, and this is the best one here. Not that the other versions don't have their own merits, but I feel that this one is the most expressive and best captures the nature of the piece. I particularly love the liberties he takes with ritardando/accelerando and dynamics; his phrasing is so personal. At 1:24, he brings out the introspective quality that the others all seem to ignore. Brilliant.

    People, People. So much criticism.
These performers ARE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME. They are the GIANTS of todays classical performers. They have earned the rights to individual interpretations.
ALL stay well within Ludwig's expressionistic boundaries as notated by him.
If not we wouldn't be listening or, for that matter, even knowing about these performers.
Dynamic symbols in composers manuscripts are to limited to achieve 100%
Only audio recordings from Ludwig himself could achieve that.
