Nothing better than a quaint beach to relax, not overly crowded..
And kids just happy to show their moves! They look so happy !
I would rate this video a 10/10! Amazing!! I have probably watched all of your videos. This video is special, it touched the core of my soul........I have always planned to move to the Phil's since I married my filipina here in Banff, Canada. Since I got to know her family back home after we married, I have been drawn to the idea of ultimately settling down there one day. I'm coming home Phil's!!!!
Thank you and wide open arms await you coming here that much I know
As an Australian living in Urbistanzo ( San Juan) La Union it was great that you came here but people who think that there is no surf here have obviously NEVER surfed. The waves vary in size depending on currents and other weather conditions. Las t week the waves were between 4-6 feet ! The surf is similar to Siaragao where I have been 5 times.
Yea I dont know how big the waves get thanks for letting us all know :)
4 to 6 feet! Not too bad. Bit like Noosa on a good day 🤘
Very clean wave 👍👍👍👍👍
I definitely appreciate big waves! Even though I'm probably too clumsy to surf lol
how is the water clarity in San Juan ? it looks murky ..compared to the clear waters of Siargao
I go to Thailand a lot. When I get out and around all of the locals, I feel like I’m in the middle of a musical all of the time. It’s stimulation overload. Love their communal energy. Beautiful people…
I was stationed at Clark 84-86 and 89-91 loved going up to La Union and Hundred Islands Wallace AS. Good times
Yeah.... neighbors dancing.. that has to be one of the best things I've seen in all the travel videos...
La Union is Spanish for The Union.😉 I'm so amazed by your foreign connections, Michael. You're the man!
Thanks for all the video :) I am from Montreal Canada but with wife’s family in Caloocan. If ever you plan to go to Caloocan let me know you can stay at our place :)
Thanks so much I'll screenshot this so I can remember
I am so insipired to go and see Philippines when I retire, I was born in Cebu, Philippines; left there in 1983...now living in Ohio 🙂
Love your content ✨️ bro you be winning I lived in Baguio off and on nice and cold 🥶
I live in San Juan, La Union, I love it. And wasn't those young people dancing in the street the sweetest?
Loved the night dancers. so awesome!!!! Great video
La Union is known for their sunsets and Kahuna Resort seems like a great place to spend the evening watching it. Not sure why its a surfers spot as ive seen bigger waves in Lake Ontario. Again, great footage of the local people gathering and just appreciate how they rely on each other for leisure and not technology for entertainment. Thanks Michael!
Once again, Michael, you're the man!
Happy people dancing in the street!
Literally brought tears to my eyes.
So heart warming.
Really shows the quality of the people and the heart doesn't it
Yea. Just don't start thinking you're gonna stay here and ruin everything with your crappy americano anticulture😅
Welcome to our country Philippines. Enjoy and be safe.
I was in Baguio and almost took the Kennon Road to La Union...now i think ill go check it out..Thx for the vid...
THANKS OF SHOWCASING HOMETOWN PROVINCE THOUGH WELIVED IN SUNNY SAN DIEGO CAL FOR ALMOST HALF A CENTURY !
La Union 🇵🇭🐊🦞🐠🦑🦐🐋🦀🐒🍹👙😎 is awesome ❣️
The drone footage is an awesome touch.
Pretty cool town and people are just so welcoming. Nice video
Not only the sunset and the beach but also the mountains of LA Union like Top Allan and the great wall of Santol have also an awesome view.
Wow, nice to see Sophia. Great sense of humor. I'd love to meet her.
I think the the dance and the basketball players was the highlight of this video so wonderful to see such positive vibes considering all the negative things going on here in America if only the newscasters could highlight this maybe it could bring everyone back to the true values again great work Micheal❤❤❤
Traditional values and community are the backbone of why the world lives Filipinos
@@ThatPhilippinesLife so true
Wow, this is amazing i Love it
Thats my second home and province San Juan La Union❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
I have sat on a beach in Batangas and never get board watching the sun go down drinking a can of San Mig Light..... Great Vid going to have to plan a trip North next time I am there but long trip from Cavite
What a great setting. I love the peace. That's the most expensive hotel I've seen in your travels. Roll up the sidewalks at night. Very quiet. Right up until you found all those people dancing. So loud but such good dancing.
Yeah that ' s the Philipinnes to see dance challenge , and you said it , Canada you don ' t see those things . Love Philippines ,was there in December for 4 weeks . Beaches is beautiful. Samal island is a nice place from Davao.
Keep the great video .
Ottawa Canada
Heard great things often about Samar thank you for your input
Canada and US are the land of the walking dead😊

Beautiful place Michael, thanks for showing us😊. I just booked a few days on Agoda around 5300 Pesco per. Can't wait, thanks again. Be safe
Fantastic enjoy the surf and beautiful sunsets
Nice place thanks for the tour enjoyed the video
Love your videos, I started watching your video two week ago and like it. 🥰🥰🥰
I’ve been subscriber off your channel awhile now and I gotta say you find some off the best places , I don’t know how you do it like I follow hmm 2-3 Filipino bloggers and still they don’t get your content it’s almost like they have over looked the areas you been , so my friends keep doing what you doing because I’m making my bucket list from your visits around
Those ppl dancing in the street was so cool. I went to a Fiesta in Palompon in Leyte it was just like that..The people were great
7:58 Best video yet. Excellent drone footage. It really made the video a step up from all previous videos. Thanks for all your efforts, Michael....Jim
The most expensive units at Kahuna are one of two 3 bedroom 3 bath houses which share a private pool. We looked at going there last fall but ended up at a dive resort in Batangas
Thank you, I wish I got more help but I think they were sold out but that one room
You're on the wrong side of the country, ruined by decades of american whoremonger presence. Go south
On our island a family of 3 lives comfortably on $900 / month. Hardly any 'foreigners' so its 100% decent people here!❤😅
I stayed at Kahuna in 2013. Looks like nothing has changed. Can be pricey, and often hard to get a booking. Back in 94, I visited San Juan and there was a single small Aussie owned surf resort on the far left, and a single Local bar in the middle, where Kahuna is now. And thats all. Just further North up the beach were beach side houses where a lot of Expats were building. But there are houses from the road to the beach now.
That actually says a lot in a positive terms, to keep and maintain a property in the beach looking great 11 years later is not an easy task
Ive never met a person from the Philippines i didnt like. Such fun loving good people.
Last year I went there for few days stayed near 711 theres a way going inside beside 711 if you want to stay in 1 room and not cost too much 2500 and at there restaurant near the beach so you can see the sunset and sunrise all you want
great vid! hope to see u around here in Elyu (La Union) 😊🤙🏻
Wow, nice cozy place.
Cool that they danced for you. And that song, wow! "Body Dancer" has been around for about 38 years. Glad to hear it again.
With your comment, I was able to find the exact song: Shake Body Dancer by Magic Fire (1986). It was driving me nuts that Shazam could not find it. THANK YOU SO MUCH! 💪👍
My pleasure! That song was a huge hit in the Philippines when it was released.
14:36 You meant SAN FERNANDO, right, Michael? ...
California Dreamin' = I'm luving the vibe -- even from afar. But it sounds spendy. 😕
💖 Your kindness and sincere intentions shine, esp when interacting with the locals. Michael. We appreciate that very much.
Thanks so much and yes the city is San Fernando and beach town is San Juan (I mixed it up a bit)
wow i like.the beach its not very stony just fine sand.
Sand was so soft they keep good care of it too
2:37 that's Mhai Co Cey Na bus stop and restaurant popularly known as bulalohan in Barangay Namonitan in the town of Santo Tomas. Thanks for visiting and featuring our province☺️
I COULN"T WAIT TILL NEXT MONDAY, PI HERE I COME !
Holy snap this is where my great grandmother is from?! I gotta go
What a nice place. First time to see a video from La Union. Love the way you interact with the locals. Keep the great videos coming ,Michael!
More to come!
Great video, I really enjoyed this one!👍
Beautiful places ❤😊 of La Union
bringing me back to my roots... i mean provincial life, quiet and slow
That Philippines Life Dance Challenge would be a good segment, a nationwide challenge,
Yes! That would be so cool
mahal kita Pilipino at Pilipinas!
nice place and safety sir, this is my home town !
Very nice
I like that song a lot. Its not the first time I've ever heard it😅. They're having so much fun with that dance 😊
They did so great, such amazing community life
Nice video and drone shots. Hi Michael, I live in Angeles city area 6 months a year. I was wondering what drone you use..Mine is a dji mini 2..but, i don't know how to add audio to the video. The new controller has solved that problem, I guess..but wondered if there is an easier way.
Fun! The dancers were great! And yes, i have a couple favs.
So true u wouldn't see people dancing outside their house anywhere else😂 ❤
nice droneshots, perfectly edited
Thank you
It does seem to have a California-esque vibe to it... Love the Sandy beaches and beach volleyball, but for me personally the impression is it might be too expensive for what it is, for me. Still, that's valuable information for me. It simplifies my search a bit
Thanks for featuring San Juan La Union. Its a city in the North
BEAUTIFUL 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
welcome to my country bro enjoy and be safe de las islas pilipinas
That’s a good itinerary! Make sure you enjoy the food in each places as well if they have a provincial specialty dishes they’re known for. I think Vigan will surprise you. It will remind you of Spain if you’ve been so very strong historically
All I can say is stay tuned (don't want to give anything away)
San Juan Municipality is a booming town in terms of tourists and beaches b4 in the early 2000s its a sleepy town but now its a booming town near San Fernando City La Union the capital of Region 1 or the Ilocos Region🥰😍🤩❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
La Union or ElYu = California Vibes of the Philippines North! ❤
Major buses going North of the Philippines Region 1 is Victory Liner Bus Partas Bus Viron Transit Bus Candon Lines Bus Farinas Bus and Florida Bus depending also to the areas youre going to like Pangasinan La Union Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte 😍🥰💐👍👌❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭Enjoy and take care always
You're right Filipinos have an unusual reverence for light skin. I too was light skinned till I moved to the US.
I think it's all of asia too, but the truth is the sun ages you so they are doing it right staying out of it, (chemical bleach stuff aside)
Was there in the late 60’s, it was packed by U.S. military height of the Vietnam War. Across that sea would be Vietnam.
Great to finally meet you!
Michael you were a wonderful host thank you again!
Nice video and happy people out there in aringay mike.nice to see also to sir Michael onstad,he's a good and straight forward man to his client .I tried to get health insurance specially for my husband before we come back home for good in the Philippines but sad to say my husband refused it.but pacific cross is a good health insurance specially to expats .
Surely, launion is beach paradise. 🌊👌👍
Definitely
Glad you are enjoying the North Luzon. ❤
The fun and action takes place in Barangay Urbiztondo along the hi way near the beaches in San Juan La Union not in the towm itself but San Juan town proper today is very promising for some good developments but not as active like in major cities or other first class municipalities🙏🙏🙏🥰😍🤩❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
I compared the San Fernando to San Juan to Nagguilian "triangle" in La Union to the Crescent City, CA to Brookings, OR to Gasquet, CA "triangle"... Very similar Coastline & Land forms to my hometown area. The distance to Baguio City is very similar to the Crescent City, CA to Grants Pass, OR distance... After my stay in Cebu City, I'm thinking about visiting the area. My only concern [for living there] is that the area is pretty exposed to Storms. I live through Nasty Winter Storms where I am & Tropical Storms are much more energetic.
I believe its better than the East coast when it comes to tropical storms and typhoons?
@@ThatPhilippinesLifeYes, but the "Coin-Flip" was for Cebu City. Also, if China "Jumps-the-Shark" there are Military Bases in the La Union area that make sense to Neutralize.
Theres a family from Toronto I think vlogging too “Simple Ordinary life?” They are building their beach house in La Union
I have seen their blogs before but I didn't remember it was here
Wow 🤩
Hi Mike,, the beach u stayed looks awesome with beautiful hotel n pool , I think La Union is or has now a SM mall and its so changed since I was Their 2002....I thought u was going Bataan during your excursions but not to be...anyhow great video and enjoy your stay their
I do go to Bataan it's just the very last place I go instead, three very whirlwind 🌪️ days there
Pretty nice but my wife and I fell in love with Da Nang during our last month trip to Vietnam.🎉.
La union ... My. Mothers hometown
Travel galore! Wow!
Fantastic video Michael! Now I want to travel to San Juan! May I know the title of the song you played for your resort and beach montage? 8:13 thank you so much
I think what's going on by Neffex or Track tribe (RUclips provided music for creators)
@@ThatPhilippinesLife thanks Michael!!
Nice resort but a bit pricey. Loved seeing the kids practicing their dance for the fiesta.
You should have checked out san juan at night, it was so lively, many night outs , bars and restaurant along the road and beach.b
Yea would have been nice but since my friend lives in this town that is where we spent out time. But definitely looked like it does well at night. (And it was a Tuesday)
Ingat kanagi pre 🇺🇸🇵🇭🇵🇭
wow injoy idol. in the philippines❤❤
i like your solo videos style a lot more, very genuine
I and my wife lived from 1996-1997 in San Juan ... opposite the Church of Jesus Christ ... the house right of the Montemar Village. It looks just a little different now ;-) San Juan at this time was nearly nothing ... we had to go every time to San Fernando to buy groceries. Anyways, thinking to live there again perhaps in 2 years time ... different options ... Iloilo, Bacolod or La Union.
Wonderful they all have their own unique benefits 😀
I subscribed because you were the content in your prior channel and unlike so many of these Beta SIMPS I have had a very nice "social" life as for a period of 25 years I was that high value man. Now reality set in after I was negligently hurt and the surgeries, pain and discomfort add up. This is why the Philippines is where I was going to retire when the pandemic hit. I would not have been hurt as ,y move was planned for May 2020 and I was hurt in December 2020.
I hope you recover soon, life is so short and I'm sure you are like me just itching to follow through
Yea I'm from Huntington Beach and thats not surfing. I've seen bigger waves on Lake Tahoe. Sometimes I wish I could talk my wife into us retiring in the Philippines but she wants nothing to do with it, and I dont really want to do that to our kids. But it looks like a cool area and maybe we will visit sometime.
Nice Limo!
Beautiful fiesta dance
Yes it was
Very nice it was great that come here but people who think there
Great stuff Mike! Any chance of you checking out land prices in the area? Thanks & stay safe!
Unfortunately I couldn't stay long enough to really go in depth but I'm sure some will chime in from the area
@@ThatPhilippinesLifeI think you have to be citizen to own land in the Philippines. Perhaps you can lease contract.
I hope you can visit Pagudpod and kaputpurawan and sand dunes and Hundred Islands too in Alaminos Pangasinan.
Hi can you tell me if there is any country music in the Philippines ?
If you lion at my valentines day you'll see them all country line dancing, so yes there is
welcome bro " ❤
"March 9th?" That let us viewers know how long ago you made this video and how long it takes to edit then release it.❤
Only because this was a non stop trip over 3 weeks, normally I'm usually the next day
Rooms at some beach places under $50. Little Surf maid and such. But not as nice. I think Surf season is more like October and November there..
Thank you, I was wondering this
When you asked that girl what they do for fun......and then wonder why theres so many kids roaming aroind... lol
