Tip cut some compression spring off 2 coils and it fits easier i find, the lid height is not affected this is what i done as i struggled with mine today
The designers made the springs accordingly to what they thought was best. Cutting the spring and not having enough pressure to put on a stopper valve could cause a leak possibly
Recently, when I tried to ignite my tall zaima, it would not light like at all. There was just too much butane coming out at a time. The flame adjuster barely did anything to the flame and I thought I was going to have to get it serviced. What I decided to try was put extra force on the flame adjustment wheel and just like that, it worked! The adjustment wheel was overturned to the increase size position and I realized the screw thing wasn't visible at all until the fix. Also, is it gold plated or is it like some brass material? Sorry if I bothered you or something.
sometimes those zaimas take a stiff fingernail to adjust.Once you get it to where you like it you should be good to go. Keep in mind that an excessive volume of butane coming from an extremely high setting will be harder to ignite than a small lower flame adjustment. If you are not able to light it, then your set higher than you will ever need to be.
Hello, your videos are insane thank you so much. I've just got a rollagas, there's work to do on it and that's ok but I've got a problem. The top screw that hold the friction wheel in place is missing, I leave in france and I've got a infinity of small screw (I'm optician) but none of them seems to fit. I wonder if the "norm" of my screws is different than the one on vintage lighters, especially on rollagas. Do you have any idea of wich norm they can be ? Thank you so much. Have a nice day.
Excellent thanks, to get the neddle out which tool did you use mm of screwdriver, did you place pressure on the tip of the needle vavle or the side, i have found some are a real pain to take out, would be keen to know from you
Thanks I'm learning alot off you, your very good at explaining the procedure on lighters and are easily the best 👌 on here. I ordered from the states last week a dunhill rollogas that has not been used since 1985, looks immaculate I hope it will work if not I will need to get the neddle seals and packing rebuilt, been in a box for over 30 years unused and not a mark on it, ordered from the states to the uk should arrive this week.
@@tripsingh3642 I just thought that if you want you could purchase a complete needle valve assembly, remove the inner valve and use the outside part of the valve assembly to put over the top of the valve you want to remove and push it down. This is if you dont want to push on the top stopper valve. Thanks for the comments, Doug
what are those cords and sponge for? i’m planning to buy one of these but the parts are fragile and maybe every month have a problem and nonparts available
@@totoybrown0908 no, gas leaks are not anymore of a problem than with any other lighter. High quality Buna grade O'rings that are 70 durometer should last for years if not decades, all depending on how you store the lighter when not in use, the butane quality, or where you store the lighter. Im sure there are other factors but im in a hurry to get to work.
No sir everything is metal on the zaima except the seals and orings and te small plastic plate that the thumb wheel sits on. Even the plastic plate will outlast you.

After Watching the video, I realize I need to bore the needle valve hole a little wider fory my 1mm cord.
Excellent video, used your instruction to repair my rollagas! Thank you!
Glad it helped! Thats what this channel is all about.
Thanks!
Thank you kindly!👍

Great informative video. Q is there a seal in the lid plunger that needs replacement when doing the main job ?
no its metal with a spring, so no need here
Use a plastic straw spliced at the middle lenghtwise to hold the spring and the other end if you get the idea.
I'm kinda of thick at times but ill eventually figure out what you mean. I hope!

A great demonstration of how to completely service the Dunhill.
Q: Is there a seal in the lid stopper that needs to be replaced? 🎉
I'm repairing mine, now the cover spring is a pain in the ass
What is it you are using in the bottom of the needle valve
Are you referring to the sponge?
If the top is slightly misaligned, should I fiddle with the hinges? Top or bottom? both,? or none of the above? Thx
Good question.

If you need to remove the needle just get something that will push the needle out from the top. something around 2mm in diameter
Thanks I have a 1.5 diameter bar I assume this will do the job, thanks

My dunhill is leaking at the roller wheel. There is some play in the wheel.
ARS lighter repair has parts should you need them.

The orings, Stopper and sponge should last for years if you take care and use clean butane.
