- One of the most essential parts of Mat’s job is to test the 0-60mph of any car he gets his hands on. As a result, that means each year he ends up launching a whole load of cars from 0-60mph and over the 1/4-mile.
So you know what that means? We’ve pulled them together into a single video for you to enjoy!

The pure look of terror with that first run in the McMurtry was amazing. Dude definitely saw the Old Gods and the total expanse of the cosmos in those 8 seconds.
That McMurtry is just on another level of fast, but I wonder what the quarter mile would be with no speed limiter.

It's not artificially limited, it actually is only geared to that speed for it's runs at FoS.
Hard to say what it would do, as the acceleration would be reduced with taller gearing, it'd certainly be faster though.

To be fair, we don't actually know if he is cursing. The words are censored so it will probably take a million years to decrypt the censoring and figure out what f*** and s*** actually mean.
The fact that the McMurtry hits the limiter about 1/4 to 1/3 into the 1/4 mile and still gets 7's blows my mind. I thought the Nevera was a whole new level, but this is just mindbogglingly bonkers!!
With the Spirling, "That hurt my head.....I am going to do it again!" got me chuckling.

They have to put a lot of effort into building a car (sometimes very weird, with crazy engines and so on) that accelerates better than a simple Porsche. The latter can be driven every day to go to work or to the theatre. Absolutely amazing! Thanks Mat!

I test drove a Model S P100D a few years ago (0-100kph in 2.4s) and trust me, you don't really want to be in a car that launches quicker than that. It's actually physically painful, like being hit from behind by a truck.

The fastest things I’ve found on RUclips has been the Kratos Viper, Larry Larson’s 5.95 pass, that McMurtry and Antron Browns onboard his top fuel car. Each one of the videos just blows my fuckin mind and I’ll probably never experience that kind of violence as far as acceleration. Maybe.
