dude my cousin has an iPhone 5 regular black and there was no scuffs or any thing like destroyed so yea. She had the iPhone 5 black for a year. So yeah. I think it depends on what type of person you are to handle an iPhone. Especially a thin iPhone.
The part about the iPhone 5 Black & Slate scuffing, my friend has a black & slate model, and she has like, AWFUL scuffs on it, I actually thought she dropped it or something. But she said her case did it, so I believe it happens due to cases.

if you buy it from you carrier like sprint or t-mobile it will come with a Sim card already in the phone and if you buy it unlocked i believe it does but you have to get it activated to your carrier

The black iPhone 5 looks awesome but I prefer the Space Gray color, it lasts longer because its less prone to scratches.
