Clear communication is everything ⁣when it comes to helping your clients find the best color for them. ⁣

I like to break it all down to 3 major components (“The Big 3”):⁣

    1️⃣ 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 ⁣
The level & tone of the background/foundation⁣

    2️⃣ 𝗗𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 ⁣
The level & tone of the focus, the contrast, the “show-stopper” of the look⁣

    3️⃣ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 ⁣
Is there more “vertical dimension” (babylights, #moneypiece, small balayage sections) or more “horizontal dimension” (ombré, large balayage sections with saturated ends)? How much of each type & where? ⁣

    𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭: ⁣
In order for the client’s end result to look like the inspo pic, all 3 components must be a match. If one or more of the components won’t work for the client’s lifestyle, beauty-budget or hair type, then help them find a different picture where all 3 components will. Ask them what it is about that original inspo photo that they like. What’s the vibe in that goal pic? Then help them find a different goal picture that encompasses a similar vibe, but better suited for their needs. ⁣

Thank you. Any examples if the questions to ask are so helpful.

So do you still color your clients hair during the same consultation if you’re able to? I’d hate to drive all the way to a consult and leave without getting my hair done
