How Much Money Do You Need For Beginner Vanlife in Japan? Sharing our Budget! [Expensive?]

- Our two month trip is just about up! We head back to Chiba to get ready to leave for America for Christmas. On the way we get revenge at Mt. Fuji, finally seeing the snow topped volcano!
In this video we will be discussing our expenses as beginner vanlifers. We will break down our monthly expenses and what we needed and why. There are many things we can change now that we've learned a little bit. In the first few months we made a few mistakes (like not bringing a winter blanket) We tried to just include what was needed for regular vanlife without our mistakes.
Please note! In this video we share the expenses in YEN. We've used the recent average exchange rate of $1.00 = ¥150. So...it's not quite equal. Yen is very weak right now. A few years ago Yen and USD were almost equal. So when you look at the prices in USD you may think "gosh that so cheap!" but please note that we are paying in Yen, not USD. So while $100 may seem cheap, we feel like we are paying $150 due to the Yen. I hope that makes sense!

Hello! We are Tetsu & Reid, a Japanese and American couple living in Japan with a goal to travel around the country, van style! This is our experience buying a used van in Japan that we are converting into a livable space for our trip. We will show the process of making the van and the travel that follows next. Thank you for being honest about the expenditure, the positives and negatives of your adventures. I am sure you will not regret it when you go back and watch the videos - it’s an experience that is so precious and not everyone gets to do it or are able to rough it out like both of you did.
It has also brought much fun and relaxation just watching you journey through the different places. Most of all, let the frustrations help both of you grow more patient with one another. To appreciate the strengths as well as overlooking the weaknesses of each other. 💕
@@Traveljet14 thank you so much for the kind comment. It is definitely a trying environment at times when you think about it but the kinds of things we get to see are those of dreams. And we’ve definitely learned a lot about each other!
Amazing Fuji time-lapse ❤ really interesting to hear about costs as well
Tetsu filmed and Reid was sleeping! I'm glad that you noticed the view!
@@TetsuReid Fuji is my favourite! I hope you can continue your van life journey
@@nataliepriddle9909 Thank you!! We hope so too!! haha
Very useful for anyone considering van life! You should include the total cost it took to build your van as well, as I’m sure that was a major upfront expense.
Thank you! It was a lot for sure! Not only money but time too.
お疲れ様でした。
