    I'm about 6'1" with long legs and a thing that shorter people don't notice is that in all cars when you move the seat up it also moves forward slightly so as you move the seat up you end up closer to the pedals each time with less room for your legs that's why i prefer to have the seat almost all the way down in the majority of cases.
    When you are tall ergonomics advise for cars don't work, they are practically useless this advice only works for short people, short people have no idea how different are the things for tall people.
    I want car ergonomic advice specifically for tall people with long legs for people over 6 feet tall.
    All these ergonomic advise that only work for short/average size people.

    Very informative. Thank you! I was wondering why this pain existed in my front right hip after driving. This makes sense.

    the way to tell if its the seat making your body hurt or if it the pounding of the bumps going down the road. Go out and seat in your car while its parked not moving.Then see if your back still starts hurting when your not moving. Just sit there reading or watching videos for the same time you drive eah day. If you back dont hurt parked then theres really nothing you can do except dont drive so much.

    When I start driving, after about thirty minutes, I experience pain in my right side waist and hip, and my leg feels stretched. Could this be related to seat adjustment, or might it indicate a spine problem? I would appreciate your expert opinion.

    I have bucket seat / racing seat in my car , i can not exit the car without damaging my nerve in my left thigh ..... just one trip entering the car and exiting the car makes me sick for 2 weeks and i can not move , how the hell are people supposed to exit a car with bucket seats without getting this nerve damage in the thigh ..... ! the huge side tip of the bucket seat digs right in to the under side of the thigh each time i exit the car : (

    Thankyou will share results. Will it be fine if we keep an extra cushion

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  3 месяца назад +1

      Depends: seat cushion is OK as long as it doesn't slide forward (= slouched back). Backrest cushion can be OK as long as it doesn't increase the risk of whiplash (i.e. if it isn't too thick).

    I have been having trouble when I get out of the car my legs won’t work. I have to stand there for a couple minutes before I can walk. I don’t feel pain. I just can’t move my legs and I feel like it’s coming from the hips so I’m going to try these suggestions.

    Thank you. What if I had surgery and removed bulging disc's. Is it appropriate to still wear my back brace to help since I am still healing and have to drive. Surgery date- 9/2022

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  Год назад +1

      Reg. surgery, I'm always very careful with distant advice: only your surgeon knows what's appropriate and not. My general advice is to try and define with him a trajectory that will define how long & for which activities you need the brace, but I'm not very comfortable giving you a black or white answer in the context of this channel....

    Hi, what do you recommend higher seat close to pedals or lower seat far away from pedals? Thanks

    • @dantheman1337
      @dantheman1337 Год назад +1

      From watching the video you want as high as possible first and then far as possible 2nd

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  Год назад

      It's a very good question, especially as the seat moves diagonally when you raise it. The whole adjustment procedure is explained in this other video: ruclips.net/video/WUDDYPf9Uyo/видео.html. The seat height is by default adjusted to the head clearance... but then, you have the possibility to do micro adjustments. In particular, you can lower the seat when you feel that you slide in it, or raise it if you feel hip pain. Makes sense?

    Bonjour Olivier. I have a new car, Subaru Crosstrek..my back starts hurting as quickly as 5 minutes into my drive. My car has the ability to raise the seat up & down, but no seat tilt..the seat has my knees slightly lower than my hips, which is think may be the culprit to my pain. If I raise the seat higher, my neck & shoulders start hurting, if I lower it down, my legs & knees start hurting and my back & hips hurt when I’m set between those positions, basically picking which body part will hurt. J’apprécierais énormément ton opinion car je sais pas quoi faire avec mon auto, je peux même pas la conduit plus que 10 minutes. Merci pour les vidéos que tu affiches ici!

    I drive a manual and am having hip pains. I have a hard time getting the distance down right. Either im too far from the clutch or too close to the gas/brake… would it be wise to give up my manual?

    • @OlivierGirard
      @OlivierGirard  5 месяцев назад

      I'll be very honest... I gave up manual many years ago. I drive 45'000 km a year, so an automatic car is the only option. My manual car is the S2000, with which I drive less than 2000 a year. Manual is fun but not ergonomic, period...
