After 15 years of training with weights I realised that the functional strength required in your day to day movements is completely different than weight training. When I first started at age 14 I was training arms like everybody else until they reached 17 inches in 3 years. Then I focused on not being chicken legs and started training legs hard every second workout. Now I think that the Core is the key part of all this equation and it doesn't matter how big you are if your core is weak. There will always be equipment and tools to move heavy objects at work or home so you don't need to be Superman strong. All you need is to feel pain free and great in your body. That's why Calisthenics is the best.

This is not a either one or the other thing. You can do bodybuilding and incorporate calisthenics into your routine or do calisthenics and add some lifts to strengthen your posterior chain. Usually if you are good at one, you are decent at the other too

Take a money saving tip: Push ups, planches, in all the variants, L-sits, pistol squats, sit ups, tricep extensions.
All good, none of which require any equipment at all.
Do all of them for an extended time to prove to yourself you'll stick with it.
I already own some of the finest, most expensive clothes hangers known.
Don't make the same mistake. Do all the free body weight stuff first, before you even think of buying equipment. And even then, just start with a yoga ball and a doorway chin up bar.

Working on coreis my fave and tbh after a 2018 year of spine surgery and rehab I think all the core work i did over the years is what saved me so I can't wait to learn more and practise.
I'm 270lbs or 122kg so I'm not small and I'm trying to lose weight but it doesn't come off easily and that's eating a balanced low sugar and carb diet with no milk and little bread.. it's one fish way from vegan haha.
Anyway I wanted to say thanks for sharing this wealth of knowledge and I hope this time next year I can post a vid or two showcasing my strength improvements.

    Hey Chris!
    Thanks for this new vid!
This morning, I did your morning routine (I do it quite often and I can feel/see the great results).
I started with push ups, with tight/solid core, to work on perfect form and the difference with when I do "dumb" push ups (only focusing on arms) is amazing.
So I totally agree with you.

@@freeltamon7208 Thanks for the curiosity! I have a sprain on my left thumb atm (because of those excessive training, including with the straddle one), need to slow it down, sadly.. I train with single leg planche for 10 sec+ at the moment.
Im using parraletes by the way, that's how I messed up my left thumb (because of the leaning forward and extreme pressure, while forgetting my grip push strength). I reckon maybe in the next 1-2 months things should be normal, I can train with either straddle or full planche again. Hopefully!

I love how in this video, the focus on exercises that contribute to basic core strength, were mostly exercises that require low impact to the floor, and could mostly be done from a stationary position. In a lot of your videos, you've incorporated burpees, mountain climbers, etc into the workout.
I live in an apartment complex where it's literally in my lease that we have to be mindful of noise, or be fined, and it explicitly outlines exercise as one of the items. The floors are thin enough that you can hear people simply walking above you, and the walls are thin enough that I can hear regular-volume conversations from my neighbor... Soooo...exercises like burpees would totally get me fined, due to my downstairs neighbor.
For now, I've just been hitting the gym for these parts of the workout, but have been piecing together exercises like these that I can use to add a morning workout to my routine, that I can do straight from my apartment.
