Edit: I say this cause imo when someone says two people hate each other it’s usually equal and for similar or aligned reasons but with them is wasn’t, and most of it was from Marianna The thing is though Marianna was a very toxic and problematic character. She got better as time went on but she had a tendency of being self-absorbed and projecting her problems and mistakes onto others and victimizing herself when she was really at fault.

The Fosters was the best show, it touched on so many important topics and had the best main character who wasn't whiny or self absorbed, she just wanted to do the best for everyone. She tried so hard to fix her mistakes, maybe not always in the right way, but she tried so hard.
I love how Callie is never the perfect anything, never a perfect person, daughter, sister, friend, or girlfriend but she remains at her core a kind and considerate person, shes always thinking of other people even if it'll get herself in trouble.

Callie in the FOSTERS is SO much better than her in GOOD TROUBLE. Maybe it's just the storylines. Maia does a great job with the American accent. Maybe she lost her Australian. Love her scenes. Being fostered , I can relate to CALLIE'S situations.
She didn't lose it, she just took lessons to speak without it. Kevin McKidd and Camilla Luddington both are the same way on Grey's Anatomy. There are A TON of actors and actresses that learned to speak without their natural accent, but can turn it on and off just like that.

It’s so funny hearing grown ass adults shame children for being reckless. Callie’s parents died and she had to ensure her kid brother’s safety. Mariana was neglected almost to the point of death as an infant and toddler. Brandon doesn’t have much of an excuse, but he’s still a dumb teenager in a house full of adopted kids. Adults love to say that these middle/high school age kids are shitty people for making childhood mistakes and maybe I didn’t make those same mistakes, but I also didn’t grow up in the foster system not knowing if I’d get a meal today
One thing I can say is that when Callie knew she had a problem she tried to fix it and I also loved the growth and character development between Callie and Mariana
The only reason I cannot watch the fosters anymore was because of Brandon. He was tolerable the first couple seasons, but when he literally gave up his dream life for a random girl and her kid, and then didn't listen to anyone, and ended up blaming it on those who warned him, is what made me really hate him. And even after Callie was in loving and healthy relationships with other guys, he still had the audacity to get upset with her and ruin the relationships. He was just a big whiny baby. Even his own parents couldn't stand him. The only time I started to like him was around the time he started dating Grace.

I started watching The Fosters after one of the episodes’ clips showed up as a Reel. I love how the show runners wrote Callie as someone who will take shit from nobody and always advocates for herself. It’s so satisfying to find a character who doesn’t hesitate to speak up when presented with a bad situation.
I don’t remember a whole lot from this show but the way Brandon treated Callie always pissed me off. Yeah, they had mutual feelings, but Callie was saying from the beginning that she didn’t want to pursue a relationship because it would screw up what was probably her last chance of getting a family. Brandon just kept pushing and pushing, and sometimes she went with it but she said on several occasions that she ultimately didn’t think it was a good idea and it would screw both of them over.

Mariana was always on her high horse, there were times where I was on the EDGE of my seat waiting for her to get dragged 🤣 But I'm not gonna sit and pretend I liked Callie more LOL. I loved the Fosters because everyone managed to annoy me at least one time, which is definitely more realistic than a character being loved all the time.
Yeah all the characters had their moments of just being really irritating, but ultimately I still love most of them.
