Welcome to the Northwest! You will love it here! I lived in Vancouver and worked in Portland for a year. Vancouver is a great place to live. It is a pretty quite town with literally no traffic ever, I lived downtown off of main. The Saturday market there is full of vibrant local produce. Or you can pop down to Portland, they have a HUGE Saturday market. Mon Ami is my favorite coffee shop, it is right on main. They have an eclectic style and you get a little toy dinosaur as your table marker! Chucks Produce is the local organic grocery, it has amazing prices. Of course Portland is full of tiny vegan heaven's. Most of the population of Vancouver are church goers so Sundays are quiet in town. Crossroads Community Church is a great church. The pastor Daniel Fusco is a funny New Yorker with dreads who plays the base in the worship band! :D Hope you have a safe and easy transition! 🤗
Ok this is not related at all to the video but I can’t not share this! My sister is home for the summer and decided she wants to go plant-based for the summer! She also said when she goes back she’ll be cooking meals for her VEGAN ROOMMATE. I’m literally so pumped. Even if she isn’t vegan all the time it’s so much better than not trying at all. Also one of my friends who is not vegan is cooking me a vegan meal for dinner and we’re going to do a taste test of some fun things. I’m just so happy right now!
I moved from Tallahassee to Seattle in 2015. I grew up hating the Florida heat (still do) and have always enjoyed the rain. I will say, the winters here are no joke...seasonal depression is real and weeks without any sunshine really does get you down. Take vitamin D. But I swear you get amnesia as soon as summer arrives, like the winter never happened. It is unbelievably beautiful. It's even better than you're imagining. This is a great time to move. I may try and escape and move to California before the next winter, but I've really loved living here. The progressive vibe and breathtaking nature is a dream. Welcome!
Yay for Portland! I've lived here for 4 years and it's great. It's definitely growing like crazy and lots of new people coming all the time, so things are always changing. There are an amazing amount of vegan options and countless restaurants. The winter can be tough, but we're all in it together! Vancouver does tend to be a bit longer away than 15-20 minutes because of traffic, but just don't try to drive during rush hour and you'll be okay, otherwise, it'll take about an hour or longer to get back to WA. Hope you have some meetups!
So happy for you! I have always wanted to live in Portland and just decided that I would start saving/paying off medical bills now so that I could move in two years! Portland is vegan Mecca and this girl from Kansas, where I hardly have any vegan options is just super excited!
I lived in Vancouver WA for a summer internship years ago! I loved it. You're making a great move - best of luck to you! Looking forward to how the change might change your cooking/recipes...
I know this is silly but I've been following you in insta since you had like 500 followers AND NOW you are this incredible vlogger and blogger and doing all these fun things. You inspire me so much Caitlin, and I feel so excited for you. A west coast trip is my dream (especially as a vegan). I wish you all the best 🌱💕
Caitlin, can I just say I'm super proud and happy for you! I've followed you throughout your journey to this point and its so inspiring to see how you've grown into and remained such a sweet and independent woman. I'm the same age as you, so to see someone else make it out there in this tough world is truly uplifting. I can't imagine how hard it's been to support yourself and now to make this huge change so good on ya! I know you're already out here on the west coast, but I hope the rest of your transition is smooth and you get to where you want to be. Best wishes and super proud of you girl!
Great choice moving to Vancouver! We live in Battleground, just north of Vancouver. Living just minutes from Portland will be fun for you guys. Welcome to the neighborhood.
I love living in Miami, I have been here since I was 3 and half yrs old, this is home for me, and I would never move from here. I'm super glad your you have found a place that suits you more though, I wish you the best ❤❤❤
I wish you the best of luck, Caitlin! You seem so happy just talking about moving! I love your content and have learned so much about cooking from you. Keep being awesome :)
Congrats on moving to the Pacific Northwest! Get ready for rain 90% of the year starting in October and the transportation department is bad at preparing for ice and snow if we get it in the Winter. People here are not umbrella users so if you use one it is obvious you are not from the area, and a Columbia Sportswear omni-tech rain coat and completely waterproof. It folds up tiny and only has one small logo. Beaverton (suburb of Portland) is home to Columbia Sportwear and Nike and the sets of orange bikes in Portland are owned by Nike. If you love good coffee and beer you are set we have in abundance locally made in the state. I have heard Doe Donuts in SE Portland has awesome vegan donuts.
I feel u girl! I went to college in Miami, stayed 4 more yrs and then moved to WASHINGTON! The weather can't be beat, but I was missing that personal connection. Ur gonna love the PNW! 💗
Congrats on the move! I'm originally from the Midwest US and now live outside of Seattle. I LOVE the Pacific NW. It is beautiful and the culture is relaxed and eclectic. Wishing you lots of success and happiness in this new journey!
You're going to love the PNW! I live in the canadian Vancouver (which you should definitely come check out) and theres just so much greenery and mountains and beaches and nature to hike and explore in. Plus tons of local produce. It will take no time for you to destress here!!
I think the Pacific Northwest suits you perfectly. I lived there years ago and loved it! You would also love the part of Sydney, Australia I live in. Best wishes for a wonderful future!
hey Caitlin, I'm so excited to hear you're moving to the PNW! I moved here (to downtown portland) about 13 months ago and I'm in love! As someone who recently went vegan it's the best city to be in! If you need any recommendations on restaurants or grocery stores let me know!
GIRL DRIVING IN MIAMI IS TERRIBLE OMG. You're so right, and even in general Florida drivers are awful. Your pacific northwest vlogs are my favorite! you totally seemed more comfortable there. You climbed a mountain by yourself, that's so badass! Honestly, you totally inspired me to be more independent and go after the things I want in life. Yesssss more marthas vineyard volgs, those are always so relaxing! I totally want to visit one day. Im so proud of you! you've been doing amazing in the past year straight hustlin lmao. good for you girl, go after your goals!
Welcome to Vancouver! We love it here, more and more vegan options all the time. You must try Nonavo Pizza if you haven't yet, their veggie pizza with hazelnut ricotta is life changing!!
You’ll absolutely love it here in the NW! I currently live in Vancouver and one of my favorite vegan/health-related aspects of it is this natural market called Chuck’s Produce. Depending on how close their two locations are to your house, you should check it out! Welcome (in advance) to the area. :)
I live in WA... Kitsap county. Summers are perfect here but in my opinion, winters are rainy and dreary... Vancouver is nice, i have lots of family that live there. They always go grocery shopping in Portland on the weekends because there's no sales tax over there... You get the best of both states. Wishing you the best!
Yay! I only live 40 minutes from Vancouver! Maybe I’ll see you sometime. I’ve lived in the PNW my whole life and I love it here, hope you enjoy it as much as I do. ☺️
I’m in Boston right now for a vacation! Highly recommend dig inn, sweet green, and my vegan Thai cafe! If you head in the Harvard area stop by VO2 vegan cafe. So gooooood!! For a short three day trip definitely do the Freedom Trail. It’s a under 3 mile trail but it gives you a great overview of Boston and brings you up into the Charleston area which is so beautiful. This is my favorite city so I hope you love it as much as I do 🤗💕
You will love living in the Pacific Northwest! I have lived just outside of Portland for most of my life. People are pretty laid back and friendly. There are tons of vegan spots too!
You so deserve this fun and exciting move!! I’ve been a fan of your channel for a while now and always appreciate your content and admire your work ethic. Sending you positive vibes for your next chapter in a new location... 💞🌎💖
My in laws live in Vancouver, Wa it's a nice little city with lots of hikes but also the ability to go into the city if you want. I'm so excited for your new journey! 😊
Hi Caitlin, I have been watching you since you lived in Pittsburgh. You have grown so much as a person and an entrepreneur. I wasn't vegan when I first started watching your videos and proud to say I will have been vegan for 2 years this August! My fiance and I are getting married this year and having a 100% vegan wedding. I make your recipes all of the time for us. I think you are doing great and love all of your content
i'm excited for you and your friends!! the pacific northwest looks like one of the most beautiful places in the country and i can't wait to explore there someday :) i plan on moving to colorado with my boyfriend to live near his family in the next year or so, from the tri-state area, so it'll be a huuuge change for us as well. let us know how the transition is! and good luck with it all ~
I used to live right near Portland. It’s beautiful in the summer!!! The winters are something to get used to with little to no sunshine but I didn’t mind that. I actually miss it a lot, it’s a great place to be!!
I live in Seattle, crazy news that you're going to move to Vancouver! You'll love it here, it's absolutely beautiful and Portland is vegan heaven. Welcome to Washington!:)
I was living in the Portland area for 5 years and have been living in Olympia, WA for almost 2 years. Welcome! It's a magical place over here :) Please please try out Yoga Union in Portland. It's a beautiful yoga studio and great community.
This is so exciting. I feel like not a lot of RUclipsrs want to live in the PNW and choose to live in LA instead. I live in and love Portland so much, you will love it here!
I just found your channel and I am really digging your videos! I moved from NC to Southern CA back in 2014 and came to Portland in 2016 after needing a break from the CA heat...I totally agree with what you said about the PNW and although you're in Vancouver, Portland is happy to have you 💕 You guys MUST hit Sudra for the Peacock Salad and Blackwater Bar (its grungy inside but do it bc its fkn good) for the Western or Scorpion Burger. Also definitely recommend No Bones and Virtuous Pie for a lil more spendy but worth it. Anyways..haha long comment but super cool that you're moving up here!
congrats on your current plans!! I support everything you do and btw I'm so happy to have seen you at VegFest :) best of luck to your future endeavors with Jasmine and Chris
Yes to both FoMu and My Thai! Also, highly recommend Taco Party (they have a brick and mortar location in Somerville and a food truck) and True Bistro (if you are looking for a nice sit-down place, also in Somerville). Although not entirely vegan, I love, love Myers+Chang (in the South End) - they have an excellent dim sum type menu on the weekends and their veggie dishes are so tasty!
Welcome to the PNW! I'm an original Californian born and bred. But I moved from of LA 3 years ago to Seattle because of the home prices being more reasonable up here. Plus the scenery is gorgeous during spring ,summer and fall. The winter sucks though lol. Hopefully you and Jasmine can arrange some cool vegan meet ups in the Seattle area. I'd for sure come because I want to meet more vegan centric people (I don't know of any other vegans in my area). Lastly, it is humid here as well. Most of the time the humidity is around 80% and upwards. The air is just so much cooler so,that's why it's not unbearable. But the summers can feel extra hot due to the humidity. However, I would never move away. This region is Great!
Aaahhhhhh Caitlin! I live in Longview! I had to move here for work and it’s super not vegan friendly... but I go into Vancouver and Portland to shop and eat all the time! Welcome to Washington!!! I’m a ranger at the Mount St Helens Visitor Center - come in and I’ll tell you cool stuff to do in the area :)
Vegan food at Clover (truck or store), Roxy Grilled Cheese vegan options are awesome, VO2 vegan is a cafe attached to a yoga studio with lots of vegan options!
Super excited for you! I didn't know that about the taxes living in Portland... I've been planning on moving there in two years, so thanks for letting me know that! Also, I just met you at Vegfest in LA and it was so awesome getting to connect with you! I hope you have an amazing time in the PNW!
I live in WA too, and Portland is great! Homegrown Smoker is a vegan restaurant on the north side of Portland that I recommend if you've never been! Mac and cheese is bomb! Welcome to the PNW! :)
Hooray, hooray! I live in Portland so if you ever want a hiking buddy, let me know! Also, traffic here is horrendous too, but maybe not as bad as Miami. Anyway, I hope you have a happy journey from FL to CA to WA. :)
Yes!!! I have been vegan and living in Boston for 3 years! The best places to eat is my Thai vegan cafe (in Chinatown), Veggie Galaxy (in Cambridge) and little fast food places downtown like By Chloe, Dig Inn, Clover!! Amazing amazing food and totally instagram worthy meals :)))
Welcome to the PNW. You're right, PDX has ridiculous taxes, on top of Oregon income tax. Vancouver is just across the river so you can enjoy all the benefits of PDX. Lots of awesome restaurants, great places to hike, bike, enjoy the outdoors etc. You will love it. Make sure to check out Blossoming Lotus, Virtuous Pie, The Bye and Bye, Paradox Cafe, to name a few :)
That's so exciting!!! I grew up in Ashland, Oregon and have moved north for college. Oregon is the BEST state! Portland has so many wonderful vegan restaurants. You should check out Homegrown Smoker, it's a vegan BBQ restaurant in the St. John's neighborhood. Their mac and "cheese" is amazing.
Congrats on the upcoming move! I live just outside of Portland as well and just wanted to make sure you know that the traffic on the bridge in and out of Vancouver during rush hour is really bad because a lot of people live in Vancouver and work in Portland.
The I5 bridge bottle neck from Portland to Vancouver is the worst thing I have seen in traffic history..Virtually makes them inaccessible from each other for most hours of the day. 1-2-3 hours to go 8 miles. Lol I was scrolling through the comments just waiting for someone to mention that 😂😂. And sadly their aren't any trains or anything from Vancouver to Portland. Personally I don't think you get to enjoy the charm of Portland living up there. I walk everywhere or bike or hop on a street car. 14 vegan spots within a 5 block radius. Parks everywhere..Vancouver is a good starting point though I suppose 🤷🏼♂️. Maybe someday they will build a bigger bridge with a light rail system...Until then more people are moving here and the bottle neck gets worse.
Don't get your hopes up about the traffic in Portland. IT SUCKS. But the vegan food is worth it :) Would love to meet you and chat once you're in the area!! Good luck with the move!
This is amazing! I’ve lived in OR my whole life and I’m moving to the Portland area in a few months! I would love to meet you sometime, you have such a PNW vibe!
Finally catching up on videos. So exciting for you all, Caitlin! Enjoy the PNW and your new journey. You're a hard worker, sharing amazing things with people and you deserve lots of joy!
OMG Boston!! when will you be there? I go to school here (I move out this thursday though) and I highly recommend Life Alive, Whole Heart Provisions, Veggie Galaxy, Fomu, and Honeycomb Creamery!
Would you make a healthy vegan version of scalloped potatoes, or potatoes au gratin? All the recipes I've found still include vegan butter and white flour and stuff but I know you come up with awesome recipes that use whole ingredients! Thanks, and can't wait to see new videos from the west coast!

It's already been a year since you went full time??? Feels like you just posted that a few months ago. Very happy for you!
I moved from Tallahassee to Seattle in 2015. I grew up hating the Florida heat (still do) and have always enjoyed the rain. Beth Ann Adams I am KS too! (Wichita) where are you? Not many vegans here where I live! I also want to visit Portland one day!
shippermd I live near Lawrence
shippermd whenever I move there, you can totally come visit!
Beth Ann Adams Awesome! If you are ever in Wichita, we should meet, someday! :) My hubby and I are not 100% Vegan, yet, but working on it!
Beth Ann Adams a
How fun to live with your best friend.
Amazing how you’re finding your way through life!
I’m a transplant from FL -> WA and I love it! Best move I ever made. Take care and safe travels 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I love the Pacific Northwest! I'm sure you will love it there, best of luck!
I lived in Vancouver WA for a summer internship years ago! I loved it. You're making a great move - best of luck to you! Looking forward to how the change might change your cooking/recipes...
Welcome to the PNW!! It's the greatest place you'll ever live, I promise

Welcome to the PNW, from a fellow Washingtonian! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, tbh.
Caitlin, can I just say I'm super proud and happy for you! I'm so excited to see how you guys settle into the PNW & all the awesome adventures you'll have out there. 😊
You’re gonna love here!! A lot of vegan and natural options!
I wish you the best of luck, Caitlin! You seem so happy just talking about moving! I love your content and have learned so much about cooking from you. Keep being awesome :)
Omg!! Girl, I live in Vancouver, WA & I love it 😍 you will love it here. Although, it does rain non-stop here from like October-April!
haha it's okay, I went to school in Pittsburgh and it actually rains a lot there too. ....and in Miami during hurricane season! lol
I would go insane and want to stay home and sleep and not go to work lol!
Living in the PNW is the best! This is the perfect time to move, it’s amazing here in the spring/ summer!
You won’t regret the move. I’m from the Pacific Northwest and I know you will loooove it.
you’ll love vancouver/portland! if you want some vegan friends to get food/go on a hike with let me know! my girlfriend and I go hiking every week 😎
omg that would be awesome!!!
Caitlin Shoemaker sweet! my email is adriana.lombardo10@gmail.com.. you can send me a message when you get to pdx if you wanna meet up!

Work those dimples girl! Sounds like a great move, very happy for you.
I've always thought of you has a PNW girl and thought it was weird for you to be in Miami. You'll love it! SO beautiful and so much to do.
that makes me so happy!

I moved from Oregon to Florida and will be moving back to Oregon in the future! 100% relate to your reasoning for moving from East to west coast.

Yeah PNW! So glad to hear you are here with us! Welcome.
Super excited for you! I didn't know that about the taxes living in Portland... I've been planning on moving there in two years, so thanks for letting me know that! Also, I just met you at Vegfest in LA and it was so awesome getting to connect with you! I hope you have an amazing time in the PNW!
Wow what an exciting time for you congrats on all the great things happening for you!!!
You seem so happy and excited for the future and that makes me happy 😊
Hey girl. Hope you get rest soon n no stress!! So glad you're happy and moving
I live in WA too, and Portland is great! Homegrown Smoker is a vegan restaurant on the north side of Portland that I recommend if you've never been! Mac and cheese is bomb! Welcome to the PNW! :)
Melissa Bishop BEST RESTAURANT EVER
omg yes! I went there and I loved it
Hooray, hooray! I live in Portland so if you ever want a hiking buddy, let me know! Also, traffic here is horrendous too, but maybe not as bad as Miami. Anyway, I hope you have a happy journey from FL to CA to WA. :)
Same!
Please have a meetup in Boston and PLEASE REVEAL THE DATES SOON SO I CAN TAKE THE DAY OFF! I would love to meet you!!!!!!!!!!
You look SO happy in your thumbnail! Best of luck! :)
We are going to love to have you. I live near Spokane Wa. It is so pretty here. COME THIS WAY OVER THE MOUNTAINS.
The Red Lentil is a vegan restaurant about 10 minutes outside of Boston and it is a BOMB brunch spot!!!! Highly recommend
You deserve all of the nice things that are coming your way. Have fun living with your best friends!
Do you like colder weather? Miami seems like Orlando in terms of traffic, and many tolls as well. Good luck on your journey!
Make sure to check out Blossoming Lotus, Virtuous Pie, The Bye and Bye, Paradox Cafe, to name a few :)
you HAVE to try Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge while you're in Boston! It's an all vegan diner and it is SO. GOOD.
how wonderful, i love jasmin and chris, so i'm really excited
I'm from Miami, born and raised, and I agree with you 100%. I don't live there but it's always good for a visit! Congratulations!!!
thank you :)
Happy for you, Caitlin! ❤️
I’m so happy for you, Caitlin! You inspire me to follow my dreams, so thank you. 💗
Congrats on the upcoming move! I live just outside of Portland as well and just wanted to make sure you know that the traffic on the bridge in and out of Vancouver during rush hour is really bad because a lot of people live in Vancouver and work in Portland.
thank you! Luckily we all work from home so I think we will be okay :)
I’m feeling that way about Vegas now. I’m thinking the northwest. I miss a seasonal year.
CAITLIN! I live in Portland and am so excited you're moving closeby...ok, that's all xoxo
OMG Boston!! when will you be there? I go to school here (I move out this thursday though) and I highly recommend Life Alive, Whole Heart Provisions, Veggie Galaxy, Fomu, and Honeycomb Creamery!
Yay I live near Seattle, it's such a nice area!! 💕💕 smart to move during the warmer months, because its FREEZING between November to March 😂
Life Alive in Cambridge (next to Boston) is amazing and you’d love it!!!
Welcome to the NW! It's beautiful here. ❤️
I lived in Miami for 6 years. By year 6 definitely ready to go!
Would you make a healthy vegan version of scalloped potatoes, or potatoes au gratin? All the recipes I've found still include vegan butter and white flour and stuff but I know you come up with awesome recipes that use whole ingredients! Thanks, and can't wait to see new videos from the west coast!
So happy for you! Best of luck!
