If you notice, Anne's behavior during sprig's birthday is very similar to how Sasha behaved during Anne's birthday, trying to give him the "perfect birthday" because, from her point of view, that's the way friends celebrate birthdays.

RuPaul is absolutely amazing as Mr. X. He's a force to be reckoned with, for sure. Just like Andrias, he mixes being eccentric and malicious perfectly, and he adds so much dramatic flair and hilarity to every scene he's in. Definitely my second favorite human in the series, right behind Marcy.

Camilla Noceda has no equal. She went from fostering 1 interdimensional being while knowing her daughter was in another world to caring for 6 kids as a single parent, then had no hesitation entering a new world to protect her daughter and the place and people she loves. She is peak mom.

I will say mr bunchoy is not a dumb dad trope but instead a goofy dad trope, he's sincire and says meaningful things but also sometimes just wants to play his games or watch his shows or say something funny in the moment when he thinks of it. I think everyone has some family memeber like that or some substatute thats the exact same
Yeah, overall I think this is more of what I meant. There's another episode where I harp on it a bit more. But what youre saying is more on point to what I meant!

So, the Plantars and their adopted human have once again proven themselves a threat to society, this time by robbing a museum. Well, at least they didn't summon some eldrich monstrosity so this is some character developement😀 But jokes aside, we do have a heartfelt scene between Anne and her parents in "Anne-sterminator" that sums up her transformation from an irresponsible slacker to a solid person who knows her strengths and weaknesses. The scene between Anne and Sprig in "Sprig's Birthday" was also nice even if Anne acted more like Sasha in that episode...
I can't say that Mr Boonchuy is shown as a foolish and/or bumbling person, more like a really unlucky one. As for the question about Anne and Luz moms - Luz's mom protected her dauther with a baseball bat while Anne's mom used a big sledgehammer. So Anne's mom.
I appreciate that we're going by the size of the weapons wielded 😂

- They really should've at least shown the Plantars *trying* to go home, not just bingeing TV shows xD
- If the Thai community believed Anne's parents forgot she was at tennis camp, I can see them believing the killer robots were middle school photo drones.
- Polly learned the whole of Thai language in a week and advanced robotics in a night. Bow before your tadpole overlord! (and pray for Mr. Boonchuy).
- I prefer Anne's mom to Luz's mom, by a *smidge*, and it's almost entirely because of the VA (who, fun fact, is Matt Braly's mom); still, she could have given Anne a bit of a break: that scolding had some deep cuts.
- I've never seen Ru Paul's Drag Race and barely knew Ru Paul before watching this episode, so I didn't connect the dots, but I enjoyed Mr. X's character thoroughly. Someone who can pull off being that silly and menacing is an A+ character in my book.
- As soon as Sprig tried to protest after Anne got upset because of the "top 3 birthday", I knew it had to involve his parents, somehow; thank god the reveal wasn't as sad as I imagined, I ain't letting my guard down like I did at Hopping Mall.
There, my one comment for every episode. Can't wait for the next batch (big ones incoming)!
I don't think Mr. Boonchuy acted dumb or overly silly. He just seemed like a typical gamer nerd who is very trusting and very supportive of his wife and daughter. It is more like he is just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Mr. Boonchuy knows his wife is the fierce one but he still steps up and does whatever it takes to defend his family when has to. Anne definitely gets her warrior strength from her mother and her good heart to defend others in need from her father. I definitely think Anne's mom Mrs. Boonchuy is a little better than Luz's mom Camila Noceda. This is probably partly cause Camila got far less screen time but overall her character development felt a little rushed at the end and if Owl House had a full season 3 instead of just 3 short specials we probably would have seen Camila push back a little more. You can really see Mrs. Boonchuy's strengths and flaws a bit better as she is genuinely a good person but sometimes a little short tempered with her daughter and doesn't deal with stress as well as Mr. Boonchuy. But overall we still see what her character goes through and she still grows and learns to accept what is happening with Anne and still choosing to be supportive. Mr. Boonchuy's greatest strength is how well he can adapt to almost any situation with minimal freaking out, stuff happens but he knows he can help his family better if he keeps his cool and acts as the voice of reason.

Yeah no I agree, I think the “Anne just went to Alaska, the end” thing they kinda keep poking at is the weakest part of season 3. It’s weird because they occasionally dig a bit deeper into the parents’ relief at her return and thankfulness to the Planters for taking care of her (the scene with the dad a few eps ago) and the full out casseroles the Thai community were giving to them while they mourned her being gone, suggesting they told at least SOME of them the truth, but the rest of the time it’s like the show is too scared to tackle the concept of “Missing Person” and it’s a shame because I think a lot of the emotional throughlines of this season would’ve hit a lot harder if the writers faced that reality head on. I almost wonder if Disney flat up didn’t let them be blunt about her being a missing, presumed possibly dead person because of the very dark connotations it has. Those deeper moments I mention suggest the writers probably WANTED to go there, but were held back.
It makes sense that the writers would've been on thin ice after what happened in True Colours.
