    Sean, your videos are such an inspiration and are so greatly appreciated. I still have my sunburst 1961 Strat that I bought slightly used for $250 when I was 15 years old. That was 55 years ago. I still play it every day and it has been to more than 40 different countries with me over these many years. It has of course outlasted all of my relationships and has never let me down. I can't begin to tell you how much it warms my heart to see so many young people still finding the same magic in the things that were so important to me so many years ago. I am of course referring to both Jimi Hendrix and this wonderful guitar... which has spent its life tuned to Eb. Your talent and your love for these things keeps them alive, so thank you for that. Now, if only I could figure out those 10 magical 'talking wah-wah notes' in Jimi's Still Rainin' Still Dreamin'... my holy grail of holy grails, I could die a happy man :) Thanks again for everything you do and best success to you in your musical and Internet ventures.

    Very cool. Never thought to leave the key. I am too rigid. I grab onto my Em penta boxes and never leave! Playing non-first position chords like that G opens things up as well. He teaches surprisingly well. Not all great players can teach- he can.

      Slow down the videos and break it up in pieces practice over and over till perfect then move on to the next part of the song that’s how I do it. I tend to have the original song playing as well from time to time.

    • @xfighter1117
      @xfighter1117 Год назад +1

      Also a lot of these lessons do a lot of theory which is good to know but not necessary for learning the song maybe look for a simpler lesson. I’ve been playing for 17 years or so now and when I watch a lesson and they start talking theory I get lost to. I usually just mute it and watch the playing as long as I see it I can play it. Everyone is different. This guy does a great job so not taking anything from him you can learn a lot. But sometimes just slowing the video down half speed and watching the playing is better than all the talking and teaching.

    • @xfighter1117
      @xfighter1117 Год назад +2

      Basically this lesson is showing you the chord progression and then to mix it up you play either major or minor pentatonic runs depending on the chord. Major chord=major pentatonic runs with it. For reference. Learn your pentatonic positions master those and this stuff comes easy good luck.

And you're pretty much the only guitar player on you-tube, that's mastered subtlety. Paul Gilbert (in his later years) would be the other.

    Cool video. That Strat reminds me of a Japan made 60’s Fender Strat I had in the 90’s. I traded it in the early 2000’s for a Les Paul and I’ve always regretted it. You can only get them in Japan now as Fender stopped selling them here in the U.S. because many people liked the Japan Fenders better and they were half the price of American made ones. Anyway, for me it’s the one that got away.
