This mill will buy green walnut from other mills fresh cut piled tight. Steam it so all the sapwood turns brown. Then pile it on our patented drying sticks. Kiln dry it. Then pupils it down tight again to sell it to customers all over the world they do that at the same time sawing our own walnut normally 2 or 3 times a year 4/4 lumber. 8/4. And 12/4 lumber. We get some logs that are 48 to 50 inches on the small end but also get some really small stuff too. Just live saw right through the heart.
Timber king I believe has one. And also we have a heartwood bandsaw it’s a double cut. But it’s a portable saw on steroids that we have made the stay in one spot. I have a video of it
12 years ago a friend of mine asked me if I could make one of his bandsaw blades into a double cut. Told him sure thing. Marked all the spacing off and did most of the grinding with a Milwaukee hand grinder and finished it off with his auto sharpening machine. Worked like a charm but it started to wear out his wheels,so he quit using it. At the time,I suppose if we would have had a wider blade where the back set of teeth would have straddled the wheel,it might have worked better. Kapeesh?
I should have also stated that we revamped all the guides on the machine (Wood Miser) and more or less customized the whole thing. But we weren’t expecting it to cut like it did at the time. Not to mention all the work it took to make the saw in the first place. ☺️
Thank you for sharing! Dan
Nice work and nice saw

Great video! Thanks much!!
It’s quite the saw. I’m waiting to cut some walnut so I can get a good video
@ that walnut does saw up nice. We normally sell any we log out because if we saw it, it’s just for ourselves. We will be watching for it.

I often thought that the portable bandsaw companies should come up with a double cut bandsaw.

They just aren’t set up to cut the other way I know a few companies do
Make larger portable double cuts

Very nice. What is the band's rpm?
I will have to find out. I don’t know the answer to that question
