Totally love it. I'm in South West Florida. So snow we never have. But enjoy most of all Europe. Spent three months inside Norway way back in the 70's. Traveled all over Europe. Really enjoyed your tour. 😊
As a medieval reenactor, This pit house and all the pictures and videos on it are absolutely beautiful. I use a Viking Aframe style tent for camp-outs and this structure is perfect. I have to say this this is top tier work. Thank-you so much for sharing this.
@@larrainepalmer7558 Lack of any provision for water and sanitation would be a chore. Maybe you like those chores. No oven. One tiny surface to cook on. I dream of camping full-time, and have done it many summer and winter vacations, but I've got better cooking setup in camp than there is in this house, which is more of a comfy bunk house for guests or hired hands. Still, I like the little Viking touches, like the way the roof is made, the fact that it's dug into the ground, the extra time that went into the wood carvings, although I'm indifferent to decorations, myself. Never would've thought of making a chimney out of an exhaust pipe. I wonder if it's cheaper. Hard to imagine it is, since stove pipe is so cheap, but I bet it's rugged as heck! With my knees, I would grow tired of the steps. especially coming in with wet feet. But you could grade things a little differently and have a gentle path to the front door and into the dwelling. Making it snug and dry would be the trick. I've never heard of using fiberglass walls. That was interesting. I eventually do want an earth-sheltered/dug-in home, eventually.

Hi, thanks for your comments, it does not lock with the wooden latch, you can open and close it from the inside or the outside, it must not be too clear on the video, sorry.
I could not get to the building supplies during lockdown so I decided to make wooden ones, they worked better than expected and I love the loud creaking when the door opens! Thank you for your kind comments.
@@vikinghamer that loud squeaking is a security device too, in a book I read they would let their metal door hinges get a little bit of rust on them so they could hear anyone coming through.

You really paid attention to detail. I could just see a couple of kids being vikings for a night. And the miniature solar installation is great. Well done.
Beautiful work sir, the quality of your craftsmanship is very impressive. I remember reading that some Viking pit lodges used thin oiled animal membranes(stomach liner) for Windows.
