What captured my eye was the craftsmanship of the door hinges and the rafters and joists in the great hall being held together by wood dowels. To me it is amazing to see something like that because of the time, effort and skill it took to get the fit just right. I know these buildings weren't built 1100 years ago but the attention to detail in construction using techniques of that time period is incredible. Thank you for showing this.

Not everyone can afford the full kit. Reenactors buy what they can and prioritize. I notice on Grimfrost that the leather shoes are among the expensive bits.

I understand this is "simply" a gathering in a recreation village. But, the way humans shape their environment for functionality, practicality and aesthetics is nothing short of astounding.
