Why would you hate to break good news to people? I forgot this guy even existed and just seeing him come in and body zombies made him easily one of my favorite characters and I can't wait for his stand-alone game.
In the original, in a radio call after Mike's death, Saddler compares it to killing a fly and Leon responds that insects' lives doesn't compare to human lives. Funnily enough, in the Remake it is actually insects that kill Mike.
I like the dichotomy: Original Mike is a professional who does ludicrous amounts of damage and gets punked by an RPG he really should have seen coming. In the Remake, Mike is having the time of his life until he runs out of ammo and then gets wrecked by something he had no way to deal with.
To be fair, sending a chopper alone to fight a fortified position that's furthermore enclosed sounds like a reciper for disaster to begin with. It's a testament to Mike's skills that he was even sent in the first place.
Bro he is a PILOT. They got a lot to deal with in a helicopter already, and they are NOT usually trained to deal with a threat LATCHED to the outside of the helicopter. Why would he think he needed a damn gun INSIDE his helicopter when its armed to hell

You'd be surprised, the closest real life example would be the *WW2* British pom-pom AA gun and they were littered everywhere on British warships back then. It wouldn't be so overkill in this type of situation.

The remake version makes MUCH MORE SENSE AND COOLER than the original version (where Mike's death seems comical)... Instead of getting caught off-guard by RPG because he is chit-chatting with Leon, this time Mike needs to be low and stationary since he needs to pick Leon up with rope ladder... and he's not being careless, since the enemies are unknown type that can literally turn invisible.
Mike's accent sounds Cajun in the remake and sounds Brooklyn in the original. I like both, I just think its an interesting change. It makes sense though, a lot of midwestern and southern military aviators.

Combat pilots in light helicopters are nuts there was a video where a Kiowa Warrior was going after a bomb maker fleeing on a dirt bike so the helicopter pilot pulls out his M4 hovers low and pops the guy. They would do shit like sweep enemies with machineguns and rockets while 10 feet of the ground going full speed.
The way Mike's death was handled bodes ill for the remakes. This in addition to the focus on Wesker and his spiel at the end speaks to 5 being the next remake instead of them doing the one that needs to be made: Code Veronica.

We only knew Mike for about 5 minutes. But we had more of a connection with him than anyone else.

Combat pilots are supposed to have a SERE kit. Since Mike didn't use it to fight the bugs before the crash, he could use it to escape.
