Haec Dies is a Roman Catholic antiphon sung on Easter Sunday (the Resurrection of Our Lord) and the octave week following. The text of the antiphon is taken from Psalm 117:24 and Psalm 105:1 and set to Gregorian Chant.
This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us be glad and rejoice therein.
Haec est dies quam fecit Dominus; exsultemus, et laetemur in ea. [Psalms 117:24]
Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus, quoniam in saeculum misericordia ejus. [Psalms 105:1]

Makes me cry knowing that all of these beautiful treasures of the church were pretty much dumped in the trash and left there
And that was much before Vatican 2. In Germany, it was very unusual to hear the propers of the mass sung inna normal parish even in the 19. century. Instead, the people would sing hymns in the vernacular while the priest recites the propers of the mass.

The principal ones of these Gregorian chants are still taught and sung in the common liturgy, and new chants are being magnificently created to continue singing the psalms, initially in Greek, in the local languages... The Church is always on the move and draws from its treasure the new and the old...
