What do you think of Airfix's 2025 release announcement? Good or bad? What are you thinking of pre-ordering (if anything)? Let me know in the comments below!

Great video - put together really well in such a short time.
And nice to see you enthused about many of the releases!
As a 1/72 WW2 AFV man, there's nothing to excite me, but I have always loved the German E-boat, so might be tempted!

I like the releases they've announced, yes some minor niggles over what's not there, but overall this is a very good teaser and I'm certainly looking forward to building a number from this. This includes the 1/48 raf vehicles which I've been looking out for for a while now. It's good to see that they've "found" some of the lost moulds that have enabled these reissues .
Don't forget too, that airfix have a habit recently of special announcements later in the year, so overall I'm quite happy that this will mean that airfix will be around for some time.

Thanks Alex - I think this is the most interesting release schedule from Airfix in years. Great mix of old and new and a chance to showcase the depth of the back catalogue. I think the little Wessex has unfortunately been lost in the hype of the 48th Jag and Tr.9, but at £25 is probably the new tool I'm most likely to get - even though like you I don't build many helicopters!

    G'day
Have to agree that the relaese list this year is a HUGE improvement on the last.
I am a vehicle modeller (mainly but try my hand at anything really). And at least this year they actually got an option for vehicles. I just wish they had more 1/35, more 1/35 World War II, and just well more vehicles in general.
You're right they do have 2 compete against the likes of Tamiya and others.
But surely if you're ever going to release at least one kit in this scale you may as well commit to releasing more. And doing it properly (i.e. having a decent range)
We will see what the future brings but I think this is the best start epics has had for a long time
Thanks for going through all of it with the rest of us
look forward to getting some of them from your shop in the near future
    Neil

It's a brilliant release this year, especially the 1/48 Jaguar. I'll definitely be grabbing at least one of those. I might have to get 2 so I can do the GR1 and the GR1a in the Buster Gonad livery. The Stalwart looks great. I'm not big on armour modelling, but I do like a subject that is a bit more quirky. That 2 seater Spitfire is also a possible. We have a nice one here in New Zealand. It would be great to do a model of that one if I can get some appropriate decals. I always wanted the Saturn V rocket when I was a kid. I built the Saturn 1B, but my grandmother insisted on dusting it when she visited from England, despite strict instructions to not touch it. It was cobbled back together but was never the same. I can fit the Saturn V in my cabinet if I move some shelves around, and it then leaves a big gap which the Artemis and Shuttle can fill up.

  • @quiddity1977

I loved how varied it was!
I'm still in my infancy (48 but never really modelled before!) & I actually have the space shuttle & saturn V when they were last released but they are sat unbuilt, waiting for a time when I can do them well!
I've been buying lots of cheap kits, especially starter sets, to practice on.
For me, I really like how they are doing the space starter sets plus the alternative packaging is a good move.
I'll definitely be getting the artemis!
I'm actually going to join the club for the first time as I like unusual kits & the me410 has my name on it! When I do I'll be preordering the artemis, Boeing clipper, 3 point fueller, land rover, lockheed Hudson & the amazing looking wetland wessex! So much detail in a small kit!

A very good announcement day with a few more kits to be announced over the coming year according to Dale at Airfix.
I’ve preordered the B.17 as I have been after the RAF version for a while.
I’ll definitely be getting the Wessex,Puma and the MTB and RAF launch.
The Jaguar looks fantastic I tend to stick to 1/72 but may make an exception for this.

With the negative news last year about Hornby plus the current range on the Airfix web site looking a bit tired. Things weren’t looking good. But hopefully withe these new releases plus some of the re releases things will be a lot better. I pre ordered the Lysander when it was announced, I have now added the three Spitfires and the Mustang Mk IV/ K to the list.

Would have preferred a new 1/72 Jag and although the Wessex looks amazing, not sure I'm going to pay £25 for that particular version....I'll probably wait for the Navy or maybe RAF and RN rescue versions

One more thing - I have always been a fan of the Space Shuttle so I will definitely be getting hold of this re-usable masterpiece of space tech! I understand why the real thing was finally retired but I do miss it. It's good that they are doing the full launch stack too. Looking forward to future kit releases of 'Dream-chaser' which hopefully should launch for real this summer, another re-useable space platform and a very cool design.

The space stuff is unexpected for sure.
I've just built the revell 1/144 space shuttle as Endeavour myself. Which is a tricky/old kit but with great new decals.
The vintage classic Jaguar and Puma interest me and maybe the wessex.
As for the usual spitfires and hurricanes with new decals 😴

    It's OK.
The 1/35 scale stalwart is unusual but it's a unique and specific model, once you buy one would will probably never buy another.
In my personal opinion why not try to reintroduce some more classic models.
My personal favourite would be the BN2 islander.
There are so many operators the colour schemes would be amazing if the IMPS set up a SIG.
In turn leading to more sales

The Wessex and the twin seat spitfire I thought wow, I'm not a fan of helicopters either but will be getting one. I'll also get the RAF ground crew. Then the wish list will be the shuttle and the two rockets.then the armour vehicles. I wonder if their next super release of post war will be a centurion or chieftain. Airfix done good in my books...defo going in the right direction at least.
Been hoping for a 1/48 Jag GR.1 for ages.. even going so far as to buy the kitty hawk version (it's not as bad fit wise as some reviews would have you believe!!)
And also a chance to grab the Victor re-release without paying ebay scalpers ludicrous £100+ prices for it.
Wessex should have been 1/48 to match my Lynx and Merlin...heres hoping!!
As for Airfix logo change...well i guess it kept someone busy...i"m surprised it didn't get a rainbow makeover...😂

I'm pleasantly amazed that any of the major players are putting out a new real-space kit (especially after the initially-promising Horizon Models has gone out of business). I'm resigned to the fact that new ship kits aren't going to happen (recent lifeboats notwithstanding), but these three maritime re-releases are an attractive offering, and something a bit different to just another battleship or carrier. Airfix are the logical choice for British post-war AFV's in 1/35. Still waiting on my Scorpion though...

  • @MrPDoff
    @MrPDoff 9 дней назад +1

Well for me it was the Wessex. That would have been enough for me. I would like to have seen one depicting one used in NI. That was me happy for 2025 then came the re-release of the Puma, a new told would be nice. I would like to have seen the Wessex stable mate the little scout battlefield taxi. Now a new tool of that in any scale including 1/24 would be awesome🙏🏽🤞. A small enough aircraft that would make a nice bigger kit. Then came the Ferret, and i just noticed on this show, it comes as both Mk1 variants, then the Stolly. A fantastic move on Airfix behalf. Post war British military vehicles in 1/35, seeing as Accurate Armour have packed up. Having build a few AA ferrets the Airfix one is a good match IMHO. Then came the MTB and Airsea Rescue Launches. So for me it's great line up. It would be nice to Know if Airfix/Humbrol are going to try and developed a good PRU Blue, as I could be tempted in a MkIX and the PR Spitfire.

Well done Airfix, with a couple of reservations.
Reservation 1: Wessex wrong scale, should be a 1:48 to sit next to the Seaking and Lynx. Would have made a great trio. Maybe in the future.
Now the major gripe. Another bloody Spitfire yawn. When the should be releasing a 1:48 Sea Harrier, as no other manufacturer can produce a decent rendering, as Tamiya’s is not worth the plastic and Kinetic isn’t much better. So don’t tell me a Spitfire will always sell, and a SHar won’t?!
Come on Airfix give us a great quality, accurate Sea Harrier in 1:48

I have to admit. I'm a little disappointed with the twin seat Spitfire. I'd buy it if it was in 1/72nd scale. Then it would sit nicely with my (unbuilt) twin seat Buchon. Both twin seaters would be added to my 1969 Battle of Britain movie collection.

Overall i found it disappointing. I like the Stalwart, but its not a must have. I’m glad a lot of people are getting a Jag (but i’m not that bothered personally) and i like the SLS-Artemis and will probably buy, nut will it just be another dead end (like the Type 45) ? Aiming at new customers is a freat idea though (but I’d prefer no paints and brush and a couple of quid cheaper).

I asked the same thing of a group of 20-somethings at Telford in 2023 as to whether they were in the IPMS and what they had bought. None were members of the IPMS, and all had bought subjects from WWII to the cold war, nothing modern. So I think the answer to your question is yes, they will want to buy and build them. Perhaps because WWII was the largest and most diverse conflict to feature combined arms and it created some pivotal changes in technology, cool camo schemes and some truly bizarre things. Subjects ranged all over the world in every type of geography, giving a plethora of possibilities, regardless of the distance in history. I'm from GenX, with no direct connection to WWII and still found it fascinating - I'm sure many who are likely to enter our hobby feel the same way.

  • @stevemanklow5128
    @stevemanklow5128 9 дней назад

Slightly disappointing for me, too much emphasis on Spitfires for my liking. OK I know it's a popular subject, but there are sooo many other options from other manufacturers available, not to mention aftermarket.
The Wessex looks awesome and is a must-have, a 1/48 Westland Wasp or Aerospatiale Gazelle would've been nice too.
I think my main purchases in the near future will mainly be from the Vintage Classics re-releases, I'm looking forward to the Puma and Jaguar in particular from my youth and the RAF Rescue Launch and Sopwith Pup look interesting.
It would've been nice to see some of the old Royal Navy warships brought back in Vintage Classics guise as well (Leander, Devonshire, etc) or indeed new ones. Some will say it's too much of a niche market, but for me, HMS Illustrious and Trafalgar in 1/350 were EPIC!
Finally, if the re-release of the Saturn V is the same one that I have from way back when, it's best avoided if you're not one to swear frequently!

Don't moan about 'another Spitfire'! This, from the supplied images, looks an outstanding tooling with good panel lines and rivet detail, I for one will be buying at least one of these and I am especially intrigued by the trainer version with the extra seat, a nice addition for Spitfire officianados. Good price point on these too. I reckon the Jaguar will very quickly sell out, looking forward to that one. One thing I won't be getting is the strange choice of the Artemis gift set - whilst I am a huge fan of spaceflight and rockets, this is a very unappealing rocket, about as bland as they get, the real thing being a very expensive and one-flight-only call back to the Apollo days, well behind the exciting and forward looking Spacex Starship - that is one I would like to see in kit form! A re-useable giant of a rocket with both booster and second stage being completely reusable, very cool.

Even the Falcon's are wat more expensive than any original saving projections, and whilst it's a noble goal, saying it doesn't make it so. @@MannsModelMoments I think you need to look at the cost per launch - Spacex launches are way cheaper than any other launch system which throws away all it's hardware each launch. He is already undercutting every other launch provider by some margin and I think it is nothing short of criminal to be throwing anything away. I see throwaway vapes discarded every time I walk my dogs, a small thing maybe, but indicative of a very poor attitude to the way society has been going for too long - we need to be conserving the planets resources, not carelessly discarding them and making completely new ones to replace them.
