I watched the movie in 2013, I didnt understand why it was such a big deal. But THIS PERFORMANCE BY JGL WAS HOT. I really wish he had released his own cover of the whole song.
Right? Love the way he sang it and his movements.... Ahhhhhh ..... I just played it over and over again after that & now it's my get out of bed song everyday 🤭
Absolutely. The more times you watch it gets better. I think a lot of people were disappointed because it was sold as a standard romantic comedy where two people get together. Where in fact, the whole film is just about JGL's character being in love with the idea of love. I think its much more refreshing than your typical romcom. The first time I watched it, I was like meh, it was okay. Then I watched it years later after I'd been through some relationships myself and just had grown up a little bit, and I loved it.
500 Days of Summer was a big deal. It is not only well-written and well-acted which is already enough to be a big deal. It just went against being the typical rom-com and went into being unexpectedly literary
What sucks sm about her getting married a few months after dumping him is the fact she explains in this scene that ‘there’s no such thing as love’ yet she finds it later meaning she never found love with him and that’s gotta hurt like hell
Yea that part got to me, reminded of some of my relationships. But I see it more as she could've loved him but he missed that chance due to his behavior, she said it was something she was "unsure" with him. Had he been the guy at the end of the movie he could've kept her for while but he needed her to become that guy as well.
Well this movie is way more about than just "the girl didn't find love with him"... It BEGS the question, and that's the whole movie IS about actually: why is SHE even WITH ME, if she does NOT feel anything? That's why we see the "expectations vs reality" part, which is dramaturgically and film techincally and on so much other level, like psychologically, is a masterpiece of a scene. It shows you how and why, this guy, Joseph Gordon-Lewitt's character, is actually not just not understanding why this "relationship" is so bad even from the start its flat, but even builds up in himself romantic and film-alike turnarounds, which NEVER happen in real life. This movie in my opinion, is a masterpiece about a psychological breakdown of a relationship from a "living-in-a-bubble" kinda guy's mental point of view.
I love 0:15 cause after he makes that comment, you know right then and there that summer didn’t feel that same connection. That was the very first thing Tom missed at the beginning of this relationship
This scene is so depressing to watch but in a good, relatable way. He's super drunk and trying to impress this girl. Begging to be loved. Then the film ends, we discover He's a moron who doesn't know how to deal with relationships. People then hate him but I think it makes his character more tragic. He never knowingly did anything wrong. He's just selfish and needy and it's sad
@@lardassbutternut3060 Unless it's a case of "the joke went over my head", he sure did. Summer is only guilty of doing whatever she likes... like when she danced with him at the wedding but this ain't no crime. She was straight from day 1 that she wasn't looking for anything serious. He's the one who couldn't understand that.
That’s not how it ended- he grew as a character by getting past the relationship that he once thought was perfect and focusing on his goals, making changes in his life that he needed a kick in the ass to do. And at the very end he meets a new girl, and it’s implied he’ll start a new relationship with her. It’s not a tragic ending.
Say all you want about this film I will always love it. It also serves as a reminder of what not to do. Don't be played like a sucker like poor Tom lol. If you've put the effort, and the game's working against you, then take your ball and leave!
I´d like to hear When I falling in Love by The Buzzcocks in this film or I want you from Pulp , Cause this couple never gets together .. So , by the other hand the all songs were excellent
I Know Summer meant what she said in this scene, but when Tom said "You know it, when you Feel it" she actually did. It just wasnt Tom. They Tried, and it just wasnt meant to be.
Summer - Eu não acredito em amor. Tom - Porque não? Summer - Porque ele não existe. Tom - Como sabe que ele não existe? Summer - Como sabe se ele existe? Tom - Vai saber quando sentir.
No, she wasn’t. Just like Tom, she had her own misconceptions about life, and could be petty at times, like when she spent a weekend at a friend’s wedding with him, when she was already dating someone, and she knew how much Tom liked her. She toyed with Tom, just as she toyed when she invited him to a party only to ignore him. But he made serious mistakes as well. She made clear that she had ambitions. She tried to motivate him to pursue other endeavors beyond writing greeting cards, and he ignored her. The look she makes after he says that nonsense about greeting cards being forever, but not buildings, was her thinking “I’m glad I’m not marrying this guy or I’d be stuck in life.”
I love how he's drunkenly slurring through the lyrics up until the end of the first verse and then just launches into an epic performance.
I think about this every single day
A song about a man coming.
shoot thats wrong
Can sorta see why someone would say that except it's not. It's about homeless people in trains dying in a California earthquake
I didn't like it because it's 69 likes and I want to keep it that way.
bruh 💀
Do your self a favor and maybe listen to the pixies

What a spectacular film this is. It's seriously weird thinking how perfect it is.

I’m a huge pixies fan but jgl sang it better than black Francis. Sorry not sorry.
