Just a quick video showing how easy it is to replace the front struts on a 2014 - 2018 Mazda 3. This one happened to be made in Japan, but I don't think there is a difference in the struts. The owner bought the quick struts from TRQ and although they are working great and they are happy, there was a little more work required to make the brake line fit into the mount on the strut. I had to file the opening larger and grind off the metal tabs to make it work. Not a big deal, but just wanted to make anyone aware.
These were pretty reasonably priced as well, and I can only imagine how much the dealer would've wanted. If you live in a rusty area, you might want to consider ordering the sway bar end links too, because if they are really rusted on, they may need to be cut off and replaced.
Here's the link for the quick struts with the sway bar end links:
    amzn.to/3Ure5Jc
    Torque Specs:
170 ft lbs for the Lower Strut Bolts & Nuts
40 ft lbs for the Upper Strut Nuts
    Tools Needed:
19mm socket and/or breaker bar or impact wrench
17mm wrench or socket and breaker bar
14mm deep socket and ratchet or impact
15mm deep socket for the new nuts which are a different size
small screwdrivers to release the plastic clips
14mm ratcheting wrench or box end wrench
5mm allen wrench or hex bit for the sway bar end link removal

Just did both of mine today after watching video. Great video, it eased the anxiety going into it. I did find it so much easier to loosen everything up when I put the suspension under slight pressure using my floor jack, then just relased the jack just enough so only the control arm was supported. And sadly my sway bar link nuts were so bad, I wound up just clamping vice grips behind the mount and impacted them off...worked great...BUUUUUT had to make sure to not tear the boot while doing it. I wound up going with KYB Strut Assembly's, and everything matched up perfectly. All in all your instructions are very clear. Great video. I'll be using your other one on the rear struts tomorrow

Can you provide a link to what you got from KYB? I have a 2014 Mazda 3 and my left front strut is making noise near the bushing.

Thank you for this video I just replaced my struts on my Scion IA! There’s basically no videos on scion ia. So I always have to search up the closest alternatives for everything.(Mazda2/3,Yaris ia) But this was a great video for me our struts are exactly the same 🥳. I did hit a road block after I put the first strut on and I heard a clunk when I did a shake test(pushing the car down, with the wheel on.) I was sooo stressed but it was just my sway bar link I had to tighten it. And now everything is good!! So a big thank you from a first timer!!

Also I think we got the same strut and that tab that you’re putting the brake line back into was a pain. But I just spread the metal gap apart with pliers and stuck it in there, then pushed the metal gap back together. So the brake line is in there pretty snug, not too tight tho. For anyone who doesn’t want to sand the strut.

I just wanted to confirm I know you said it in the video. There were other videos saying different. Is it 170 ft lbs for the bolt connecting the strut to the knuckle? I used that amount and it snapped my bolt

117 ft lbs is the correct number

Do you usually rest the vehicle on jack stands instead of the jack? I know you're not completely underneath it on this video but still

Hi Dan, I replaced mine following your video with some KYB struts. I keep getting a horrible noise coming from the drivers side. Have you experienced anything liked this? Everything is torqued down correctly. Had I known this would be the case I would have just kept the OEM ones tbh.

Do we need to do an alignment after this job? Got a new strut KUB brand as I have the same exact vehicle as the video. Curious if this type of vehicles will need alignment after a strut change?

Man…TRQ looks like the only option for complete struts for my 2018 cx5. I really don’t want to use them due to that bracket issue you had in this video. KYB nor Monroe make front struts for a 2018, only 2016 and earlier. KYB only makes rear shocks for the 18. How’s your ride been with the TRQs? Any leaks?

Don’t listen to the torque recommendations. I have the same vehicle it’s 107-117 not 170.

So question after changing these and the bolts aren’t cam bolts would I need and alignment?

It’s always a good idea to get an alignment after replacing struts, but these are not cam bolts on this vehicle.

TRQ parts are no good. KYB is the better option for anyone wondering.

What was the reason to change the struts? I have the same car and I have a lot of rattle in my front end so I’m changing the struts, tire end rods, stabilizer link and I already changed the control arms a

It was because one side was leaking bad. Thx for watching! Best of luck to you with all that.
