Check your power input make sure you have a good breaker and source like 220 highly recommended. I have a Lotos 60amp cutter and had issues until I upgraded to 50amp breaker and bigger wires to the unit. All is good now. These things are power hungry.
My issue was that I could hear the relays tapping before I upgraded my power source. By the way I also ran 200 amp all the way up to the pole for my home. Total cost for me to do it alone was under $900.00 going from 60amp to 200amp upgrade to my house.
Yes on the pilot arc - I did drag the tip in the video, but they suggest maintaining an 1/8" gap. Dragging will chew up the consumables. I have been looking into whether you can buy tips for dragging but no luck as yet - if you have any insight on that please share. Good luck...
Higher voltages - lower current necessary to do the same amount of work/ less heat developed in the circuitry. Easier on the unit/ longer life. Always try to use 240VAC and maximize the equipment’s full potential.
Lotos biggest POS i ever i bought , the first one wouldnt even strike an arc , the replacement would not cut the top out of a 55 gallon drum , thin ass metal , this machine SUX
Towards the end of the video, much of the steel I cut / tested was rusted and it handled that well. Not sure about painted steel, but as long as you had a good metal to metal ground, I suspect it would be fine.
i found that welder cable Parkworld 691821A Adapter Cord Welder 50 Amp 6-50P Male right angle to 30 Amp L6-30R Locking Connector . well i got in the mail yesterday and looking over the specs on it did you realize it a 50amp 30 amp cord? you realize the the cutter is 50amp and not 30amp? i called lotos and asked about this they said by using this cable it would not get the full amperage out of the machine and did not recommend using it, it was better to make a 50 50 cable due to passable burn up of the cable using it high setting of 50 amps and possibly a fire.
Very interesting Kevin. I think the trick here is whether your wiring for 110 V or 220 V. My cutter came pre-wired from Lotus for 220V with a 30 amp L6- 30R plug. In their manual, they list the input amps for 220V at 30 amps and recommend a breaker of 40 amps. If I wanted to wire for 110v, I would need to change the plug as they recommend 40 amp input and a 50 amp breaker. Make sense? By the way, I am not a electrician, do not recommend doing what I do, and defer to the professionals for final advice and council and how best to wire.
I enjoyed your video very informative I ordered this unit Would have appreciated links to the cords oh well lol Thanks for taking the time to make the video You EARNED MY subscription
Nice Plasma Cutter! This brand is in the dark and frankly I don’t know why. I have the LOTOS LTPDC2000D (the RED one), purchased at Home Depot on late 2017, and it’s been a good solid machine. I wanted to try out the plasma cutting feature because for 20 years I had been using oxy-acetylene to cut metal at my auto repair shop. This machine will do a fine cut on ¼ inch plate, rough cut on a 3/8 inch and will go up to ½ inch leaving a severance cut. Good video and thank you for sharing.
@@RickRabjohn hi rick One question. Mine is like yours but I have 60/65 air but it does not have enough sparkle and the air turns it off the fire what a problem
That's aweful, but I have not had that experience. Did you take it back or call Customer Service ? I suspect you already double checked the basics like power, air, consumables, connections?
..Well Zeus, looks like you aint going to be choking on grinder dust or dumping shavings and chips out of your shoes. I may have to talk the wifey into getting a job...!
Excellent review! I just purchased the ltp5000d and your video was helpful to me. I also love your welding and plasma cutting table. I'm searching for that video next. Thank you!
I have been looking for one for quite a while I am totally confused what to buy I'm a beginner to yesterday I finally bought this machine but it says it's brown I hope it's the same torch I know it's pilot torch
Funny you asked as I recently finished a butterfly wind sculpture with 16 butterflies cut out using a plywood template. I used 20 Gauge steel and was able to cut three at a time.
Yes - speed is a factor - too fast and it stops cutting through - too slow is OK but may generate more draws....so you have to practice a little to get the feel for it.
Outstanding video. LOTOS should use this instead of their nonsense video. you covered most of the important aspects of the machine including information that is missing in their manual. If you can post what you found to be optimal amperage for different thickness would be great for all newbie to plasma like me. Thanks a lot.
thanks, I just finished a project where I needed to cut 20 12" x 12" Butterflies out of 20 gauge steel. Plasma cutter really worked great and saved me a ton of time.
rick I am glad I,ve had mine for about 3 or4 months just takes time if you ever get a chance go to allens welding\woodworking on youtube man hes like the Picasso metal work
5 FT GROUND IS PLENTY , BECAUSE U BOUGHT 25 FT EXT CORD
Great job Rick. Your video is one of the first that addresses power cords. Anything is pretty worthless if you can't plug it in.
Ha - your right about that Ron - thanks for your comment!
Hello Rick you helped me a lot specially on the extension cord.
Thank you. I am glad it helped; Booyah!
I bought this Lotos and no matter what I try it will not even cut through 1/8" plate. Am I the only one with this problem?

Looks like a good unit Rick, cuts the thicker bolts better then mine would and mine cost alot more. cheers.
Thanks Loz - I love this thing
How do you do it with ground cable is very short 5 ft and you have 12 feet of gun cable? And you can also weld with that machine?
I agree - you would think they would make both cables the same length - seems odd.
In terms of reviews, this was a great one. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Elected hardware l hot from lowes for $ 62
Is this a pilot arc machine? Looks like you were dragging the tip right on the metal, is that correct
Yes on the pilot arc - I did drag the tip in the video, but they suggest maintaining an 1/8" gap. Dragging will chew up the consumables. I have been looking into whether you can buy tips for dragging but no luck as yet - if you have any insight on that please share. Good luck...
whats the link for those 2 cables? that 691821a not being found,,,,
Why not just change the L6 plug to what you have for power source and save some bucks?
Higher voltages - lower current necessary to do the same amount of work/ less heat developed in the circuitry. Easier on the unit/ longer life. Always try to use 240VAC and maximize the equipment’s full potential.
Thanks for the tips!
Seems like a decent priced machine, that does the job. The short cable is a bummer though....
Thank you and yes I may replace the grounding cable for sure. take care..
Good job
Wonderful video to the point well done!
Thank you, each video takes a lot to do and I appreciate it. Booyah!

Wowza IB - thanks for sharing and sorry you got a bad one. Ugh!
How’s it do cutting dirty? Paint, thick rust etc....?
Towards the end of the video, much of the steel I cut / tested was rusted and it handled that well. Not sure about painted steel, but as long as you had a good metal to metal ground, I suspect it would be fine.

just following up - how did you make out?
How much does this run for?
About $420 on Amazon and Home Depot....Which is about what I spent on mine.
All you had to do was buy a new plug end swap it out... Thanks for the review 😊👍
Thank you!
Best part of the video is the American flag and the Budweiser flag.
Thanks Lunch Lady!!!
I enjoyed your video very informative
I ordered this unit

Hi. Please could you tell me where can I get pieces
Those "air arc" cutters won't produce that kind of heat. A real plasma arc torch will!
Hey Rick..any info on your welding table,,?..purchased or custom made?
Never mind that..saw your previous video...thx
I made two welding tables - check my channel videos

Thanks for vid Rick. Unboxing mine tomorrow and with help from your video should be cutting by noon.
Awesome - hope it all works out
Great video my freind.
Thank you Steven!
My Mother should have seen this Cutter in Action.....
Why is that?
Thanks for showing all the things you cut with it, looks like it works fine!
Thank you rusty, so far so good - really good in fact. will see how long she holds up.

Hey Rick what is the number on your torch, I purchased the same and got a much smaller torch. Yours seems to cut much better than mine.
the only number i can find was in the manual CP243. No number on the torch itself. Good luck with yours.

can you report back pls? Did you maybe buy a fake Lotos? Did you buy yours from Amazon?
Mine is not fake, bought from Amazon.
@@RickRabjohn yes I know looks the person who made that comment deleted his comment.
Looks like a herocut I wonder if they are the same or just look similar
I will buy one whether it is suitable or there is better
as a former welder who has watched a few plasma cutter reviews. Yours do not suck. This guy knows how to cut with the ltp500000000.
hahahahaha - Thank you Joseph
Hey what torch did that machine come with
..Well Zeus, looks like you aint going to be choking on grinder dust or dumping shavings and chips out of your shoes. I may have to talk the wifey into getting a job...!
ha ha ha - yes good luck with the wife ...
I like his charisma and that's for the awesome review
Thanks!
Excellent. Been thinking about getting one for 2 years from Lotus. Never saw a review. Good video.

I think the brown is the newer model - so good for you - hope it's working fine.
yes straight to the point love it
Thanks!
Is it still working???
Yes - in fact I have been using it to cut 5/16 plate just two days ago - works great - building a home foundry so lots of opportunity to use it....
Nice vid - how does this torch work to follow a pattern piece for repeatable shapes etc.
Thanks,
Dennis
Funny you asked as I recently finished a butterfly wind sculpture with 16 butterflies cut out using a plywood template. I used 20 Gauge steel and was able to cut three at a time.
Does it help if you slow down or speed up and get a better cut either way by any means
Yes - speed is a factor - too fast and it stops cutting through - too slow is OK but may generate more draws....so you have to practice a little to get the feel for it.

Hi - were you 'drag cutting' towards the end of the vid?
Hey Dennis - No, I was resting the edge of the pink cub on the strait edge which puts the tip about 1/8" above the work.
Found it thanks
ok great John and good luck with yours
hello there new to the channel great video wish I could of seen it cutting the thinner plates but thanks

Rick, I enjoyed the information on the Lotos.I also have the same model. I've had nothing but good service from it.Thanks for sharing the video, Ken
Thank you Ken and glad you had the same positive experience - Booyah!
