We combine unschooling with Charlotte Mason. For example we aim to finish certain lessons per week instead of per day. We don't schedule time for learning, instead we allow the child to complete the task whenever they want as long as it's finished and some weeks we might not finish all tasks, that's okay, we continue the week after. Quality over quantity. We might even skip a week to go on a spontaneous trip or work on a project. We have a Charlotte Mason curriculum but we change and adjust it to our child's needs.. It's the best combo so far for our family. 💕

I researched unschooling as well and was very grateful to find some of its appeal available in the Charlotte Mason method as well. Great video!!

Thank you Sonya. I was pretty overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. I feel like I have been drowning and you just threw me a life saver. God bless you!

It’s the second tendency I’m concerned with. My oldest two love some structured learning time, but I’m so exhausted with a 1 year old and my current pregnancy, that any plans seem to fail quickly because I am either wiped out or something else with baby requires attention. I don’t want to make it too hard on myself with 4 small children. Do you have advice on this?

At this point you are in a season of life that is difficult. Depending on the age of your oldest, you might need to step back a bit. You may want to simply focus on math, reading/writing, and adding enrichments (picture study, music, etc.) as you can. Some ideas for adding enrichments would be a special read aloud between you and the oldest in the evening, beautiful artwork and a poem shared with the family (while kids are occupied with food) at the lunch table, memory verses read at the breakfast table, as well as a Bible passage or story, classical music played regularly in the background, and some time spent outside. This truly is a season that won't last forever.

I'd like to know how a day of a CM Life with a 5-6 year old would look like :) Thank you.
