Absolutely fantastic memories are priceless am i ashamed because ive listened to this over an over again with happy rears running from my eyes and im a 53 yr old man not ashamed one bit the best Saturdays in my life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There is just something about this tune, it brings back all the memories. I don't care it was done on a cheap 80's synthesiser, it is one of the greatest theme tunes ever!
I know, right, it's such an evocative tune. Hearing it makes me think that all scenes from real life should start seguing into illustrated cigarette cards from yesteryear!
Why did I have a tear in my eye whilst listening to this. We never knew how good we had it as kids in the 80s did we.......the sheer honesty of these guys, great players never earnt masses of money but did it because of the love of the game....
Yeah back then it wasn't abou tmoney as player didn' tearn much back in those days the yplayed the gam ebecause they loved playing and i fthe ywere the winning team by th eend well that was just a bonus. Players these days hav eno idea how muc hbetter off they are compared with these 2. Unless you offer them at least £100,000 a week they don' twant to know
I loved there shows every FA CUP FINAL DAY it was on for hours hours showing the build up the players at there hotels there buses coming into Wembley the interviews MEMORIES ARE PRICELESS
Rest in Peace to two legends of the game. Used to watch this before going to see my uncles play at Brentford at Griffin Park. Rest in Heaven gentlemen 🙏🏽😢🙏🏽😢
People forget how this programme came about ... it was a feature on World of Sport called "On The Ball" many presenters hosted that spot .. Ian St John came on and later on Jimmy Greaves joined him ... after a period they re named On The Ball into "Saint and Greavsie" then the World of Sport programme ended and "Saint and Greavsie had thier own individual programme called Saint and Greavsie!. remember On The Ball ( With Gabby Logan) came back in the early 2000s for 2 to 3 years.
The same thing happened with Football Focus ... that was a feature on the B.B.Cs Grand Stand Saturday sports programme, and yes Grandstand ended yet Football Focus carried on as its own programme!.
RIP Ian St. John, it brings me straight back to 89 as a 10 year who was already in love the game, never missed a show and also repect to Sir Jimmy greaves as he have had a knighthood over 20 years ago
RIP to the saint and Greaves....I have been humming this tune all day long.. thank you your contributions have helped make the beautiful game even more beautiful.
I have been waiting for years to get this music in it's entirety, good things come to those who wait, with music i guess. I am holding back the tears with all the memories of these two legends. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. April 2021🔴⚪🔴⚪🔴 🙏❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤🙏
Great tune & memories of a great fun football programme, hosted by two legends of the English game . RIP Saint & Greavsie, you were simply the best football programme presenters ever .😊👏👏👏
Basically yes....the original Saint and Greavsie theme was like a marching band tune with whistling (started by a referee's whistle!).....this was used by Baddiel and Skinner in their Euro 2004 Fantasy Football programme as their theme
Saint & Greavesie are deserving of the term 'Legend' why? It's because they were whizzes on the pitch and in the commentary box, than for entertaining the masses fellas, farewell may saint's Andrew and George keep you safe. Motherwell, Liverpool& Tottenham won't forget you that's for sure!
R.I.P Ian St John at 82

Mostly but not their original theme which was a marching band-whistling tune...series 1 I think!
Two greats of football from yesteryear who became two household names on TV we won't see the likes of Saint and Greavsie again. Legends

@@markborland1979 Yes it was, Aztec Gold by Argent/Van Hooke.

I have been searching this theme tune, for years. I alway thought this was from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. My bad, I was a toddler.

ITV4 round about saturday noon , The Best of S&G, oh ,now if they could just have the best of WoS Wrestling, my weekend starts here!
So did this just become the S&G theme after the 86 world cup?

I think from memory this was the original Mexico '86 score from ITV, then they carried it on with S & G.
Correct, Aztec Gold by Argent/Van Hooke.
The world was a much better place back then in the 80's, i'm sure we all laughed more.
