Thanks for the information. I applied for TSA on Friday and received an email the same day maybe a few hours later saying I was Invited to the CBT. I was surprised because after watching a lot of videos people say it usually takes weeks or months and I also only have DoorDash as my work experience. But my test is scheduled for Wednesday now. I’ve been studying x-ray object identification on my own and have a pretty good idea on colors and identifying weapons and restricted items through clothes and etc. English is my first language but I sometimes suck at spelling. Hopefully it shouldn’t be too tricky but I’m hoping the English part is just common sense English. Do you have any tips or recommendations for the CBT? I’ve been focusing more on the x-ray parts because I’ve heard some people fail that part of the test. My father served 21 years in the USAF so I’m very familiar with the federal work environment so it’s nothing new to me. Do you have any advice and what were
your thoughts on the test personally, this will be my first official job and I wanted to do the same as you and start off my federal career with TSA to gain experience and hopefully either gain rank or move on to better federal jobs in my area. I live in Dayton OH area so the airport here is a connection airport for bigger airports so it’s a smaller sized airport but has many vacancies. Judging by how fast I got accepted do you think I’ll be moving along the process quickly? Thanks for the great videos! I also subscribed.

      Hey thanks for subscribing!!
The CBT is a basic test to see if you can read, write, and speak English. So if you can read the daily newspaper and understand what the article is saying, then you're going to pass the CBT. Don't worry about spelling unless your competing on ESPN. For those kids spelling is a job. Us Joes just use google.
The way you're preparing for the x-ray part is the best thing you can do. When I took it in 2009, I went in cold with 0 prep and RUclips was still in it's infancy. So not a lot of information. When I did find anything, it was mostly people complaining of about the job. So don't stress the test.
Since COVID wiped out a lot of TSA's ranks (as in people quit), they are moving VERY quickly. Took me 22 months to get hired during the previous recession. CBT invite took about 4 months. I've been in 1-on-1 contact with people and coached them on interviewing. They all got final offers within 2 days of interviewing. So TSA is really grabbing as many people as possible.
How fast the process goes depends on how much of a need the airport has and how quickly HR can process all the necessary paperwork for each applicant. I worked at Atlanta airport, so I was picked up in a mass hiring because they were opening a new terminal and needed 500 people.
My process was 22 months and some change. I had to switch my application to Atlanta airport because the one I applied to at first was a very small regional airport. I did this after I got in touch with a very helpful lady from HRAccess who advised me to do so and actually did it for me while I was on the phone. You can switch airports at anytime, but ONLY do it before or after your airport assessment.
When it comes time to interview or you start getting that itch to switch agencies, I do provide help with writing effective Federal resumes and helping people with Federal interviews. I'll be starting those services in mid-April.
Let me know of that helps.

@@theTSAguy Hey! Thanks for all the awesome a advice you gave me! It gave me a major confidence boost after hearing what you had to say, I decided to wait a little bit to update you but I passed my CBT and got the email right after! There were a few ones where there were no objects in the case but all the studying paid off for me. It’s crazy to think you went in there with no major knowledge of the X-rays because if I didn’t study I felt like I would’ve definitely failed that part of the test. I’m waiting for my credit check to go through and now I’ll hopefully soon get to interview with my airport. I’ll let you know if I get the job anytime soon but this journey is just beginning. I’m glad I found your channel and I will definitely be staying tuned for more!

Np, let me know if you need interview prep help. You can also apply to multiple airports simultaneously and that one test and interview will count for everything.

Thanks for this video. Who do you put down for supervisor on the resume if all of your jobs were self employed? Can you indicate this on the resume?
If you were an employee at a certain company and you had several managers, do you list all the managers?
If the last manager is no longer present at the company, can you list someone else at the company who can vouch for you?

If you were self-employed and you were your own boss then just list yourself as the employer and put “self-employed” on your resume
If you had multiple managers just list who your direct supervisor was. If that person is no longer there then put someone who can vouch for you.
