- We will be going over edge flows and iteration in this video. This will be one of the primary ways to identify how your topology needs to be laid out. Looking for Blender 3d resources? Check out my website for links to assets, addons, discord, and more.

It's always surprising how messy you can be in the beginning. The image in your head is so perfect and precise, it can be pretty hard to let that go.
Great tutorial! I thought it would be a 5-pole @12:00 at this vertex. It would be great to have a tutorial that walks through how to identify the E-pole and N-pole just by looking at the reference images.
+1 to this I’d also like to know. Did you find any good vids to answer this question? 😊 I imagine it’s probably related to figuring out where the main loops are in the model/ref (depending on where the main highlights/edges of the model are) and then working out what the best place is to reduce topology (and/or) redirect it?
Kinda like how this video talks about radiating topology and the points where they all meet is probably a good place to put the poles? ruclips.net/video/LRJOFCwiruA/видео.htmlsi=pRFdNw_72vjzBSrE (like if you see at the point in the video where he’s showing off the mesh with the screws, if you check around the screws there’s 4 poles in between the screws, the outside edges, and the base of the part of the mesh that extrudes out & down from the top middle area - the poles are placed in the areas where these different sections/loops intersect with eachother)
Thank you sir ! this is extremely informational, and you taught it in a very easy & managable matter, +1 well deserved sub.
Thanks for making these videos! They are very helpful to me.
I love your work bro. I wish the best for this channel.
thnx for the info you are amazing and this channel is underrated
can't wait for the bevel weight video
edit: although u did it but more examples would be nice
good to know these basic techniques, but really you can go nurbs to retopo for low poly or just use booleans or just use hardsurface technics in Zbrush, all seem to be faster and give you more freedom. Now I just do messy subd base mesh >zbrush for high poly >Low poly retopo
That's another workflow for sure. Z brush does have some major benefits.
im so spoiled with booleans 😂. i think i would lose my mind if i 3d modeled as a career and had to care about topology haha.
great video thanks
👍👍
thanks
I'm a maya user but love these videos i suffer with the opposite i struggle getting the shapes down lol and trying to shape out stuff, what would you recommend on drilling down more fundamentals in that aspect? I try to break down things into primitives and so forth but it's going from there it's like i have disconnect from what I'm seeing to doing it in 3d space
Look into how the objects are designed and manufactured. Cnc machining things like that. Should help a bit.
Try less talking and repetition.
Actually, thats how beginners learn, through repetition.
